  1. I didn't mean to derail this thread. As mentioned above, it's a testament to the hard work and preparation of the crews to stop this fire like they did. Structural firefighting and wildland firefighting are two very different things.
  2. There was talk a few years ago of the city putting 2-way dashcams in all of our apparatus and it allegedly had a microphone. Someone found a tactful way to explain to the city manager the last thing on this earth that anyone in the city wanted was to hear what gets said in the cab of the fire truck and have that be open to FOIA. We now have one way dashcams with no audio capabilities
  3. I'm both. I'm an asshole in real life too, but in real life just like on here it's only to people that deserve it.
  4. Shit that doesn't even move the needle. Ever had someone chase you down and get out of their car screaming and yelling about how you air-horned them at the red light three miles back; all as you're trying to get your shit together because the house you're parked in front of has fire blowing out of every window and the last update from dispatch was that the neighbor is certain there's someone still inside the house. People are the goddamned worst part of my day.
  5. North Texas Kroger today thru next Tuesday. Not sure about elsewhere.
  6. The only reason it doesn't look that hard is because MLB players are that damn good. Every poster on this board would go 0 for 100 against present day Jamie Moyer and idk if that dude has topped 87mph since 1996.
  7. On the way up there we got stuck about 20 cars back behind a couple of 18 wheelers going 55mph. I don't know that I've ever been as close to committing homicide as I was at that moment. And then on the way home I didn't have a single vehicle in front of me and I set the cruise on 97 and sailed all the way to Clayton. But yes, fuck that road.
  8. It's nice enough. Not much to do there besides ski. Only a couple places open once the sun goes down, hence the madhouse at the brewery. I think by our second day there we had made it to everywhere of significance on Main Street. Bring your own hooch or be prepared to pay 40% more than usual, and the selection sucks. Also, 81 mile stretch from Clayton, NM to Springer has absolutely nothing but tumbleweeds. No gas stations, no roadside park, nothing. So make sure you have plenty of gas, snacks, and do your paperwork at the Allsup's in Texline.
  9. If there's drones in the air and they know it they will ground all aircraft.
  10. Been there the last two years from The day after Christmas thru NYE. Plenty of snow. In fact, the locals said this past year was busier because Angel Fire and Taos were light on powder. Not many options for food and drink. Shotgun Willie's for breakfast. Capo's is decent. Red River Brewing is the main spot to eat in town, so if you want food get there early or way late. Brett's makes a good CFS, and they have a large one
  11. So now we know Katfid works for the AAS
  12. Goddamn that's gonna hurt. Out for 4-6 weeks if everything goes our way?
  13. Sounds like the Cadillac itself just has some water damage. Fire started in the back and went straight up to the top floor where it did most of its damage to the old hotel.
