  1. It's an odd feeling for me when my honest and earnest political beliefs are so out of touch and out of line with the community I post in, that they are deemed to be fake or affected or worse yet, an elaborate troll for hypothetical lulz (is that still a thing?). With all due respect, it should be an even odder feeling for you people when you take a step back and recognize that there are a goodly number of people, comprising of a sizable population of America, who believe in generally the same rough sketch as I do, because that means your belief in me as a troll implies the existence that 30-40% of Americans are trolls. Which is asinine. Is that really our position here? I assumed this didn't have to be asked, but I'll ask it now: you people understand that "trolling" and "not agreeing with your politics and standing for something different" are not the same things, right?
  2. Good point. And I assume the exercise is in capturing the largest swath of different folks to group them into one population as opposed to parsing out the anti-abortionist people who are also anti-death penalty to call them pro-life, etc.
  3. I love everything you just said and think you are brilliant for having said it. I would like, however, like to formally go on record and admit, I was a Charlie Strong defender even into Season 3-- up until Kansas-- and cannot deny it.
  4. Alright, "Anti-abortionist" it is, don't shoot the messenger, that is a fine moniker and characterizes the stance, considering abortion is murder to anti-abortionists, so I think everyone is saying the same thing. I was asking because I don't watch punditry or cable news or celebrity entertainers who do comedic bits about news and so wasn't sure if this was a choreographed shift that has taken place in politics or if a few folks here were doing it as a way to emphasize points on the message board.
  5. Is saying "anti-abortionist" the left's version of reframing the pro-life movement, like how some on the right calls the left "anti-life" versus pro-choice? Are we doing that now?
  6. Tell me Democrats are nerds without telling me Democrats are nerds.
  7. DIA is a United hub. Out. Houston guys have fun with it, she's all yours.
  8. Look, I don't want to get get into a spat with you for no reason, but I also want to be forthcoming and answer a direct question, directly. Specifically: I oppose healthcare (Universal), Immigration (illegal aliens getting unemployment benefits, etc.), free tuition for college and canceling student debt entirely, her vision of gun control, and her general tone and posture of "othering" of succesful/wealthy people and her entitlement to their money in paying for a bunch of her aspirations. Read the last two pages from a while ago and you can catch up on what I mean by that. I've long stated I can appreciate her as a politician and respect her-- and not in the creepy DDD Dad way of sexualizing young women, but in her skills and abilities. She's got an amazing feel or instinct for communication; especially online where she really speaks the younger generations language with her sassy clapbacks and drags and twitter meme language. She's genuinely funny, in these ways, and I suspect she's just a funny person if you know her. Further, I can appreciate her tone of aggression and belligerence as both an honest attribute in her case, but also politically advantageous for the mantle she carries and those she carries it for. Good for her, even if I don't agree. Edit to add, now that I type all this, she reminds me of what I imagine @bad_teammate would be like as a congressman. That said, I like some components of her green new deal, but not all, and I agree with defunding police insomuch as that means enabling the LEO's with mental health specialists and the like, but not cutting back on crime. I also don't know where she stands on this but I assume she's for decriminalization of drugs and pot specifically, if not outright legalization, which I agree with. I'm ambivalent about where she stands on BLM, CRT, or other SJW issues because I could not care less, either way, about such cultural morass. Do you, let your freak flag fly, etc.
  9. Good job Biden! He's knocking out some things. Afghanistan? Check. Immigration Nightmares? Check.
  10. Jif Creamy Peanut Butter is the best Peanut Butter ever. I know there are tons of craft and artistan and organic and all-natural's, but the OG Jif cannot be beat.
  11. I think she's a true believer. I've grown to really respect and appreciate her style. She's a brilliant politician really-- fantastic instincts for the game-- a worthy enemy, as they say.
  12. I've been in SF/Bay Area for work recently and ran into a new flavor and topic that really should have it's own thread, with the zaniness: The Bio-hacker Bro.
  13. I don't want to put words in his mouth, but I don't believe WIldcat is saying to get the message out to change Trumpkins minds or anyone who watches foxnews religiously, but in order to confront an attack on their and their voters/constituents ideals. It's probably a nice signal and message to people that they will fight for them and that they aren't just ego-driven, mediocre talents who are in it for the political career (which by and large, most politicians actually are, on both sides).
  14. Where and how can I get a PS5? Preferably two of them? I want to get ahead of the holiday rush (and I might be late).
  15. Avis Preferred bro checking in. Have not had one issue with rentals this year. In fact, my issues are more with the ride shares of Uber and Lyft which has me renting more when I travel than usual. If you reserve a car at least 3 days out, you should 100% get a car at a reasonable price. For work I travel to a different city every other week. Pre-covid I would rent a car maybe 50% of the time because if I'm working in a downtown area, parking and limited need for a vehicle made Uber cheaper and easier. When working in a suburb or further out, I would rent. Covid-era, I've never seen longer waits for Ubers and it's definitely more costly. I've seen 30-45 minute waits, unreliable cancellations, etc. When trying to stay on a schedule, and for the cost and convenience, renting a car is actually way more reliable these days. Last week Avis gave me a 2021 Lincoln Navigator with 350 miles on it. It's like a $90k car. I actually was nervous to drive it because my stupid Courtyard had people doing construction and forklifts and cranes in the parking lot and I'm sure the damage to this thing would be a nightmare. Funny how you get the free upgrades when you don't need them versus when traveling with your family. Sweet ride, though.
  16. In my experience it is this as well. Jealousy/envy and the insularity that the Jewish communities foster/
  17. I think you missed the joke and he's talking about a beloved pet. But what else is new, you don't seem to catch much lol.
  18. Cruella. Wow super shocked at how awesome it was. The lead actresses really hit a home run here and the story was fresh and exciting. I feel like Cruella was what DC wished they could have with Harley Quinn as Cruella had more Joker in her (creativity, humor, and flashes of viciousness and all around brilliance) than Robie’s Harley ever has displayed. I guess that’s the difference in writing or the acting, or both.
  19. I think everyone but brick horn and a few people who loved season 1 for all the wrong reasons who still think season 2 is operating at that level and think you should shut up with any critique, of which a couple are here on this thread, agrees with that.
  20. Good points. I think a lot of the criticism for the Republicans caring about life only until the life is born is also fair. From what I read 90% of abortions today (later than 6 weeks) will not be legal. That’s amazing if you believe, as I do, that means that those 90% of babies cannot be legally killed. I guess that is a bold and an inflammatory statement, but it’s one I believe— abortion is murder. It’s just a different belief and I don’t see why someone else saying “abortion is not murder” is not equally inflammatory or offensive, but I digress. Believing as I do and understanding that means unwanted life will be born, into sub-optimal situations and to sub-optimal people, I believe that I should make some room in my life to seriously think about looking into fostering or adopting, as I support this ban. I think that is a logical and faithful progression for most Christian people who support this— at least in my circle of communities. Edit to add as I catch up on this thread; maybe the least surprising thing to find out is MIA is a Satan Temple member. God bless us all and there but for the Grace of God, go we.
  21. I thought “who am I? Don Draper” coming from Ted sitting on the couch was funny, until that “getting comfy on the couch” bit lasted too long and got cringe.
  22. Brick horn is not entirely wrong, but I also don’t think it’s worth just throwing in the towel completely. It’s not like this season has been all rom-com jokes and Christmas episodes, as horrid as those were.
  23. Agreed. It’s weird to me how mentally fragile and in such a weak state of mind she’s been in lately. I think seeing a good sports therapist and a break is probably the smart move and she’s seeing it as well. Hope she gets the help she needs.
