  1. That could be. I’m sure I can away thinking he could have run him deeper but didn’t really see how deep the QB was. As others mentioned it could be a communication issue. I’m not seeing how but if Sark says so, maybe it was.
  2. Yeah, he should have thrown it away. I’d hope that he anticipated Golden being open to the inside given UGAs alignment. But he didn’t. I’m not saying it was easy not not impossible to identify presnap either. The drive before he went deep for Bond with Golden wide open across the middle. Similar route to what QE hit in opening drive 3Q.
  3. No, they didn’t play terribly. The two strip sacks were Oline issues. The over/crossing route to Wingo was made more difficult due to pressure when Helm missed. Arch getting sacked the play before the strip sack was terrible blocking. Overall, I don’t think there was immense pressure and there were even clean pockets. All things considered the pass pro was decent. They did get beat a few times that we hadn’t seen this year that killed those plays however. QB play wasn’t good, but it was only partly attributable to pressure. That sack at the 1 I don’t really even consider that pressure. The dude was 10 yards upfield on the ground. in general terms, lots of pressure will kill you. In this particular game, I don’t think there was tons of pressure but more fits of it. The QBs just didn’t do a good job overall.
  4. I’d argue differently. Qb ratings, numbers, grades plummet generally speaking under pressure. Many QBs can handle one man pressures but collapsing pockets with multiple pressure points is a different story. There’s a point at which a QB can’t overcome it. Go back to that Bucs-Chiefs Super Bowl. The better QB lost because of that shitshow around him. The other night we had a lot of 1 man pressures; however, it was very effective because we didn’t identify the quick read on at least two of them. But in my opinion the pressure was too heavy to make it easy, but it was not so overwhelming that we didn’t miss opportunities that could have been made.
  5. Golden was open quite a bit. But he’s not a focal point so he doesn’t get the looks. Arch’s 1st and 2nd series were big play opportunities. The 4th down slant to Bond. I am not sure what’s a reasonable rate to not get to the open receiver but yesterday was certainly not the only QBs that have that.
  6. That’s not exactly true. I’d guess Ohio State, Bama and Georgia all have very similar records over the past 5 years. Seems like I just read that the last 3 years UGA has only lost to Bama. All conferences are that way give or take in any given year. The grind of a full season leaves no one immune. For lots of different reasons.
  7. I saw the game. It was even at half with him playing that half. I’m not saying they don’t win but boat race and over 40. Not so sure.
  8. Pretty sure they face masked one of our dudes on that play so at a minimum a rekick would have helped. The linesman on our side and back judge ignored some blatant calls.
  9. I’m not sure the Badgers boat race The U with the QB at full health. Don’t think London played at all so not sure how impactful that would have been.
  10. So what I’m getting out of this is you saying you’d whip Hondos ass. Is that correct?
  11. Actually it was likely the turnovers.
  12. He’s doing an even better job than Murphy.
  13. You know what Malik Murphy is doing tonight? He’s playing good enough to win.
  14. Good thing we ain’t losing. Although there’s something to be said for many of your brethren here being miserable.
  15. Win or lose tomorrow it’s not an ending either way. So enjoy.
  16. Way faster than Taafe. High school QB wasn’t he?
  17. This is good shit. So we had the best DT combo perhaps in our history. And remind me how many sacks did we get? How many times did we hit the QB? Maybe it’s cause UW had a 1st round caliber QB. Oh and a 1st round T. What about that 1st round WR? Another T drafted that I think may have already started an NFL game. 2 other WRs drafted. The fastest TE at the NFL combine. And a young C that could have named his next collegiate destination. But to hell with the secondary cause they screwed it up for all of us. Fact is none of our dudes played well enough to win. Because we lost. But holy shit, the defenses task was considerably more difficult than the offenses. And in spite of individual failings, we had 4 plays to win and didn’t.
  18. Are you talking a normal safety or the slowest one in the history of slow?
  19. It feels like offenses in general are down. I’m curious if the number of transfers contributes to that. Even experienced guys like Gabriel have to lose some continuity with the moving around. But several of the top offenses have transfers at QB so maybe it’s my imagination. We’ve done a good job for the most part of limiting movement. That helps our Oline. But yeah ultimately this team has enough to win it all. Like it or not, that’s the final judgment.
  20. Pretty sure 99+% of the people know we are one of the top 3-5 teams in the country. We’ve stacked depth at least in the top 3. I’d put us at #1 in both categories. That said to date, our opponents offensively are as shitty as we’ve seen in decades. Their respective OFEI rankings alone reflect that. Hell, MSUs QB may be the best we’ve played to date and that was his first start of the season. I know there was some positivity thrown towards the CSU QB/WR, but they were 114 in OFEI last year so whatever numbers they compiled were against poor competition. So good that SFA put up 20% more yards and points against the same 1-5 FCS opponent than CSU did this year. I don’t even think Michigan and OU have amassed 300+ yards in 50% of their games excluding us. But also, there isn’t much more our defense could have done. I guess technically pitch shutouts every week. Personally I don’t think this weeks game will be terribly close. We win by at least two scores. I’d be surprised if they score 24. They didn’t do jack for a half against Clemson or Bama. They didn’t light Auburn up and were very pedestrian versus Kentucky. However you choose to view it this is likely the worst offensive schedule in quite some time but at least the back half is far better than the first half. I’m not sure that would constitute whining.
  21. I guess I’m a literal SOB, but those were neither flea flickers or the same play/look.
  22. Vasek 41 Finkley. 70. He did not log any snaps versus MSU. Burke 100 Simmons 123 Sorrell 156 Moore 163
  23. I saw just a bit of ND. Purdue is not very good to say the least. The numbers say the defense is porous too. Generally speaking on PFF , QBs and RBs seem to score higher than other positions. I would assume that’s because they aren’t really one on one like most other positions. The variance between PFF grade and QBR is interesting. For stat geeks, it’d be interesting to see gap comparisons. Pff has good stuff to drill down into, particularly for QBs. Without having watched much of Purdue, they use play action in a pretty limited fashion, at least based on that data. Is that intentional or do they fall behind so quickly that opponents don’t respect the run and play action is useless? Riley, Sark are pretty heavy play action. Ole Miss too. I do think that makes it easier on QBs and really the Oline.
  24. Just as an add on to that, I went and checked on Purdues pass blocking grades. Last week the overall pass blocking was 57. They had 3 lineman graded below 50 overall. Versus Notre Dame it was 33. I look casually at those numbers. I don’t recall seeing anything that low versus Notre Dame. And I don’t recall seeing 3 Olinemen sub 50 in the same game. Even sub-50 is not overly common.
  25. Think about the difference in how those numbers are derived. One is based on the stat sheet. The other is more or less what you’re in position to accomplish given your surroundings. Throw a catchable but dropped pass. Negative for QBR, potentially a positive for PFF. Your Oline blocks no one so the QB throws it away. Negative on the QBR. I’m not sure if it’s a positive for PFF but it’s not a negative. A good example would be the TD to Moore before the half. Think of how each would turn out if Moore drops it.
