  1. In the post-game analysis that I heard after Tuesday, nobody mentioned Christian Nationalism at all. Will the Catholics who voted Trump be happy with Southern Baptist/Evangelical dogma becoming the state-supported voice of the Natinal Religion? I used to hear all the time from the accosting Christians curious about whether my presumed search had turned up Jesus that the Great Whore Mother of Babylon (or whatever) from Revelations was, obviously, the Catholic Church. 2. This may elevate you to national treasure.
  3. That's it. The people pulling the schad are those idiots who couldn't see past some perverse sense of self-righteousness to the action that best served their purpose. That doesn't impact the profound sympathy and outrage a person may have for the targets of Israeli slaughter in Gaza and points east of Israel. Biden and the US have failed the Palestinians at best. Now, even the lip service and wan warnings to Israel will be gone and part of the good old days.
  4. I renew my (serious) pledge to never vote for white men. I renew my statement of a desire for a law to keep white men from running anything for 30 years (minimum). I renew my expectation that a few dullards will respond, "But Roma, there have been bad, terrible women," as though that somehow balances the weight of history. Henry Rollins called this "man's" world a poorly run carnage fest. He deserves a annuity for that fresh phrase. Fuck the white man.
  5. Sometime during the first Trump presidency, I had a thought I never anticipated having as an American: Where does the Army stand? I pledge allegiance to the flag....
  6. Recognizing the grand scheming: That grand scheme? The world conspiracy to keep the Aggies from their rightful place atop the college football world! He has unmatched experience at using losses to prove a team's superiority.
  7. We're getting close to Aggie parrot mode on this point.
  8. Again, playing weak teams does not mean we are weak. We can only play the schedule we have. Florida? Five touchdowns and a shutout in the first half suggests a powerful team.
  9. Yeah. It was weird having the coach of the dominant national team for the last five years breathlessly celebrating as though he'd just unseated the VY or Colt McCoy teams. I'll add that pitiful defense cost us that OU game not under-preparation for a rivalry game. It looked like we went into a watered-down victory D which created a slow motion horror I never want to contemplate again. We've also got more at stake now where any loss is critical. I'm sure we'll be ready for the Aggies.
  10. In our place, they would have taken our "second half victory" as proof they were better than Georgia by the end of the game. I've seen posts where they note that Florida winning the second half against Texas has meaning. Intellectual gymnastics is not an apt hobby for the intellectually disabled.
  11. I actually don't like that my response to these stories is at best asympathetic but mostly, "Yeah? Fuck you, fascist." I begin to think my emotional resignation since the election has to do with the clear vision that election gives to what this country wants and who most of us want to be.
  12. I'm ashamed that we don't meet your party's standard.
  13. I wonder how many animals these guys tortured growing up.
  14. Yes, goddamn it. They've already pretty much made it open season on anyone who looks like a candidate for the deportation concentration camps. Joyful cruelty becomes our brand.
  15. Is there a brief synopsis of this. Maybe add a note about why I should care. ETA: Compliments to @Incredulity. His/her takes on specific topics are not boilerplate talking points.
  16. It comes the closest.
  17. The new conservatives are as bad at humor as the old conservatives. Thanks @Incredulity for posting stuff from the right. I like seeing it even if it is just about never funny.
  18. It's weird that they think our easier than expected calendar means we're not good. They cling to that incomplete reasoning like a snot-nosed kid clings to a security blanket. We've destroyed a number of teams where the game was over at half-time. It will be fun to gut them in their own stadium.
  19. It really is this simple. Except for the rifle she has, he describes a firing squad. Who describes battle as nine rifles pointed at your face? He didn't start heading for the firing squad description but it's all but unquestionable that this is the imagery he arrived at.
  20. Because she is not a cult leader, those shirts would have been on sale after the election no matter the outcome. The cult wears their colors and campaign stuff year round. They love the identity with Trump and never recognize his losses. Trump relies on this for income.
  21. Your username makes me wonder if it seemed to be Olé Miss at first. Thanks for letting me know the story. I kind of wish I didn't know it now. I always liked the nickname. Fuckin' South.
  22. There as a very interesting article in Atlantic a few months ago about Black people and the draw of the South. Some persons and families have long history there. Their family stories, both good and bad, are in those states. Many feel it's a return to their family roots. I thought it was interesting because I'd never considered that perspective. I don't know how that plays with Black athletes, but it could be a factor of them staying or choosing to move to a southern state school.
