This is a 94x34x1.75 black walnut top I had ordered for our kitchen island a few years back when we had it renovated. We weren't quite ready for install when it arrived so, like an idiot, I left it in the box on the floor for about a week. Well of course it cupped about 1/4" on each side. I went ahead and finished and installed it, but It bothered me to the point that I ordered a replacement. I've had this one sitting on saw horses for two years with the idea that I would somehow fix it and turn it into a nice coffee table for our living room. Finally got around to stripping off the sealer I had applied and figured I'd try to reverse the warping before taking it somewhere to have it resurfaced. I dampened some towels, flipped it over with the convex side up, laid it directly on the towels, and ran a fan blowing over the top over night. 24 hours later and it's essentially completely flat. I have my doubts this is a permanent fix, but my hope is it stays flat for me to install some heavy duty c-channel braces that will stabilize it. We'll see. If that doesn't work I guess I'll find someone to plane it down, but I'll lose a decent amount of material so I'd prefer not to go that route.
