Toilet paper is not flushed in Mexico. Every bathroom has a trash can for TP. My GF refuses to flush TP here in Austin.

You do you, but smelling shit in my bathroom at all times would be enough for her to not be my girlfriend anymore.

    Ew spacers.

Well, yeah. Not ideal, but easiest solution at the time. Now I don't really give a shit so I'll just go without.

I hate aftermarket wheels so the only real option is CTS-V wheels.

  3. I can't remember if I bitched about this on here before, but I had these 15mm Eibach wheel spacers on my SS because the stock wheels don't have great offsets. These brought them flush and I really liked the look. Fast forward to brake maintenance time and I go to remove them so I can change out the rotors. 5 of the 20 nuts holding them on seized in place and turned to butter as I tried to remove them. Hours of f-bombs and an angle grinder was needed to get them off. I guess I'm back to stock offsets because only one spacer survived. Nothing can ever be easy.

Lol, same. Arent you just at the edge of warranty coverage? My old GTI had its whole entertainment unit go out months before its warranty expired, and the Passport I bought my parents had its AC crap out months after. Those are the only multi-$k issues both cars had. Funny how that works.

4 year 50K mile warranty so it's long gone. Nothing broke until about 4.5 years old. As per usual.

Have the exact same car with almost the exact same mileage that my wife drives. I will never buy another Volvo again. We had the AC go out, but luckily it was under warranty. The AC has always been loud as shit inside and there is a slight whistle sound when it’s on high.  Currently have a check engine light with the code being for some emissions bullshit. Thinking about getting rid of it before some major shit goes wrong like you’re dealing with. It’s just a matter of time. Kind of thinking about a Grand Highlander Hybrid. Im sick of paying $80 to fill up the Volvo with premium fuel. Fuck Volvo.

Nice. I'd almost bet the AC will fuck up again a few years from now. We had a check engine light for some emissions bullshit, but it was under warranty. Can't remember the exact cause.

On top of the AC, our active headlights also stopped working giving an error code everytime we start the car. Both door lock actuators went out on the driver's side. There's some motor mount that is cracked. I also need to do regular maintenance to change all the brakes and battery. All of it added up is just really difficult to justify.

60K miles. Fucking absurd. That was almost a new car when I was a kid.

I'd love to just go buy a 4Runner. MPG be damned. Wife will probably want a Highlander which I'm also fine with. I shy away from hybrids after a bad experience with a Lexus RX450h although I don't really know what the cause was for sure.

  6. I think we had talked about them before, but just wanted to chime in and say fuck Volvo. 2018 XC90 with 60K miles. Both front and rear evap cores are cracked. Bullshit by itself, but what is insane is the entire interior needs to be disassembled to replace them at a cost of $6,400. That's from an independent Volvo specialist too. I imagine the dealer is closer to $10K. That along with some other issues and the guy suggested I just dump the car and move on. Coming from a guy who loves Volvos that was surprising to hear.

I guess I'll see what I can get for it and push my wife to get a Toyota this time.

  7. Not my personal style, but I'm a big fan of personalizing your house however you want to. Fuck the idea that everything needs to be done so some boring couple can buy it from you 10 years from now.

Definitely excited to take 2 from OU. They hit 12 home runs and still lost the series. We hit 8 I think. They walked in a bunch of runs today. Just a weird series. I think our pitching is looking good but then again 12 damn home runs. The rest of the season is gonna be crazy in the standings.

The wind was blowing like crazy yesterday, right? Surely that was a factor with that ridiculous bullshit score.

Face frames and cabinets are one of the easiest things in wood working IMO.  Yeah you can make them look janky, but just take your time, don't rush it and you will do a good job.  Drawers add complexity as do doors, but even they aren't hard, just time consuming

I need to build some kind of bench with storage for shoes in our mud room. That might be the first project. Also something for toy storage in the kids area upstairs. Plywood boxes with poplar face frames. Maybe some drawers if I get confident. We'll see.

I need that track saw before I attempt any of this though.

  10. Long overdue project nearly finished. My original design for the island had these legs and skirting. I messed up and let the first walnut top I ordered sit unfinished for too long and it cupped. Just got this new one so I could finally finish all the details. It's a mix of poplar and soft maple so I'll be painting it. In hindsight I would have done it in walnut or white oak. Oh well, glad to be on the last few steps of this one.

  11. On the early calls topic, my office phone is forwarded to my cell phone for when I work remotely. I don't get a lot of calls so usually not a problem. Occasionally one particular person calls me at 6:30 AM. It's never urgent and I never answer. I'm always up around 5:30 AM so it's not waking me up, but why would anyone ever call anybody at that hour unless it was a medical emergency?

No, it was a few years later. I was in the concourse that game and saw the beams shaking.

That's right. I was at the game I think. Everything 10 years ago or older blends together into one blur.

I work on a very high floor and rarely felt them during the day. The scariest one was when my daughter was maybe 2 and in the bathtub and when it hit it popped like a shotgun and the water started swishing around and she was crying in a way I distinctly recall being genuine fear. It was one of the bigger ones, would have been 2014 or 2015.  Not bad overall but man that moment it hit was scary. The videos from Taiwan are terrifying.

Was that during the KSU Kirk Herbstreit game?
