  1. I rang the damn bell today!
  2. The year we played Arkansas was the year Beard got fired/we went to the Elite 8. They allowed fans/it was for charity and we kicked the ever-living shit out of them. I believe we scrimmaged TCU and Colorado last year and beat both of them.
  3. Anybody know what our shot is with them?
  4. Same…we got a raw deal!
  5. Last week of chemo for me starts today! Did a little early celebrating this past weekend with some friends in Kentucky - the Texas offense was more nauseating than any part of this medical journey.
  6. Had a nice day on the Trail and checking out some pumpkins in Louisville.
  7. Vic said the plan with Hose is to redshirt unless injury issues force us to play her.
  8. Vic was very high on Justice when talking the other night - mentioned how her injury in high school really meant she had to focus on regaining strength instead of basketball last year, and that she is playing without the brace/can prioritize basketball now.
  9. Went to the Welcome Back Celebration tonight - while Vic definitely knew last year’s group was special before last season, I think he is even more amped about this year’s squad, particularly the sophomore group. Kyla has been cleared and is practicing. Ashton Judd has been dealing with some tendinitis in her knee, but Vic said she will be back at practice after missing a week.
  10. It has gone much better than I had anticipated. Aside from feeling like shit/exhausted for a few days after each round, the only real issue I am having is tinnitus, which will likely be a permanent thing I will have to deal with after this is done with, and I suppose now gives me a valid excuse when the wife says I'm not listening to her.
  11. Fuck cancer - I got doc approval to travel before my last round of chemo starts on Monday. My group of 6 is getting into/staying in Louisville on Thursday and driving to Lexington on Sat for the game. Don't think we will make it early enough for Bear and Butcher but appreciate the organizing effort.
  12. Had a real shitty past week - had to let my dog cross the rainbow bridge, but turned the corner for the weekend and went out in public (other than errands) for the first time in six weeks and made it to TX/OU. I have this week off (going to Kentucky for the game/fun this weekend) and then start my last chemo round next Monday, and god am I looking forward to getting this shit over with. I have had some issues with tinnitus since this started, which I would say has gotten worse after this last round - I have felt some general wooziness/equilibrium imbalance feelings this time around related to it, which hasn’t been fun. I guess ototoxicity is one of the unfortunate side effects of the cisplatin. Has anybody who has been through this drill had problems with this/found anything effective to help with it?
  13. I almost stopped watching as soon as he transformed because the voice was so off-putting - it is really distracting in a bad way.
  14. I had the day every dog owner fears yesterday. I rescued Captain guy 7 years ago (well, he rescued me). We had an inseparable bond - he was literally never more than a few feet away from me 24/7. A few months ago I got diagnosed with cancer (see the I caught the cancer thread) and am weeks away from finishing treatment and beating this shit - he has helped me and my family navigate through the toughest few months of my life. Captain's health started failing during the middle of all this and I had to make the gut-wrenching (yet unquestionably correct) decision to help him cross the rainbow bridge yesterday. He almost saw me through it but couldn't quite make it, and he passed peacefully yesterday morning. RIP buddy, I'll never forget you,.
  15. I bought the Cool One UPF pullover last week…pretty nice. Will see how well it works at TX/OU.
  16. Started Round 3 Day 1 today, which means I officially am more than halfway done. My white blood cell count is still a little low (but higher than he thought it would be)/will need the Neulasta equivalent for Rounds 3&4, but the doc said I should be good to go TX/OU and to Kentucky the following weekend as long as I feel fine.
  17. /csb I was up in Chicago over Labor Day weekend for Oasis staying at the Chicago Athletic Association. After dinner, I had to run up the to the room real quick and as soon as I saw the lobby elevator doors close when I got in, I thought "huh, that guy in the lobby looks just like Shane Gillis." I came back down to find out one of my friends asked him if he was my fraternity brother from college, while another drunkenly accosted him for a picture, which he obliged. By the time I got back down, he smartly had already headed up to his room as quickly as possible. /csb
  18. Im avoiding situations involving the sun/have seats in the shade. It’s all moot at the moment with this white blood cell count needing to get up/me not going anywhere - like you said earlier, I’m not going to FAFO. I got my 27 hour jab during the fourth quarter last night…no bad side effects yet.
  19. Brett Robin
  20. Finished round two of chemo and am halfway there! I have the 27 hour bomb on my arm set to poke me probably during the fourth quarter tomorrow. I still feel mostly good, though I had higher than normal blood pressure the last few days (probably reading the news during treatment didn’t help). Now two weeks off before round 3! Had to give up my season tix for at least the next two home games while I largely quarantine at home, but if that’s the biggest problem I have, I’ll take it any day.
  21. That is great - so glad to hear it!
  22. CDC responded on Twitter about how people with those tix have rightly paid for access to both. I agree it is terrible optics and wish they would find a solution.
  23. Question - for your wellness appts do you just see your GP annually, or do you have to take extra steps like a cardiologist for the heart stuff?
  24. Definitely plan to. I went to the game on Saturday (left at half to make sure I didn’t wear myself out) and volleyball at Moody yesterday. Looks like those will be my last events to go to for a hot minute now that this news came today.
  25. Looks like I am joining this party - had low white blood cell count so will be doing this when round 2 is done.
