  1. If Steve Sarkisian at Texas were a stock, explain why you would buy it. Now explain why someone should buy it before the season starts. It's.....not easy.
  2. Thats going to continue. They're on the Georgia plan until someone or something forces them off of it. It's going to make recruiting very difficult for us. I still think our NIL trajectory is something to feel very very good about. I kind of still cant believe it. Just gonna take time.
  3. That was a big call Sark made. Seems like an obviously dumb one to me but I guess we shall see.
  4. If you're the Mannings how do you convince yourself Sark is the guy here at Texas? How do you even assess him without more results from next season? Here's a hypothetical- would you guarantee Sark's job for as long as Manning is here if it meant landing the QB and getting a top 5 class around him?
  5. A&M was beyond confident Bledsoe wouldnt qualify, it would've been a dog fight for him otherwise and they likely would've bagged him hard. Serious athlete. Today has been a good day.
  6. Fair enough if that was a regurgitation, I just thought it was interesting that he confirmed Patterson was coming and that he doesn’t think it will go well. He has a good mentor who he gets a lot of this stuff from, and I think it’s worth mentioning other coaches think Sark is out of his depth defensively. His whole point was it’s obvious our defense needs to be regeared and Sark couldn’t figure it out, now he gets to deal with Patterson. That doesn’t exactly bode well for Sark’s future here.
  7. Got to catch up with a buddy last night who just got his first P5 analyst gig. He was a walk on for us and would give his left nut to help Texas get better. He completely went off on Sark and your word of incompetence best summarizes his thoughts. Its fucking depressing. He says its a pretty common opinion in their world that Sark is out of his depth defensively. He says Patterson is heading our way (doesnt know in what capacity) and should make a difference, but he basically thinks Sark is a joke outside of being an OC and Patterson knows it because its common knowledge. He doesnt expect them to get along very well but thinks its better than letting Sark continue to fuck it up. He also thinks Kelly was a laughably bad hire at LSU, and cant believe Jimbo hired Durkin who he expects to be a disaster. He said a lot of people in that community were surprised Napier didnt get the LSU gig.
  8. I'd be a lot more concerned if there werent so many good examples of white kids from central Texas turning into elite defensive players.
  9. I think Patterson himself will openly admit he has a reputation for being an asshole. Sark knows who he is.
  10. I dont think this GP stuff has much to do with Sark, and I'd imagine he knows it could potentially be a snake in the hen house.
  11. Schools like Texas dont typically have empty suit fundraisers as their athletic directors. The second I got the word on CDC during the Eyes stuff I knew he needed to be replaced, and that was before he threw out some seriously concerning ideas about who should be hired to replace Herman. If the guy is best suited to fundraising, he needs to be formally stripped of his other duties that are at this point ceremonial more than anything. I'm sure some think this would upset the apple cart with the $$$ guys that like him, but I've yet to talk to one of his fanboys about the reality of who the guy is without them pretty quickly changing their tune and just saying thats unfortunate because he's so likeable. They're all desperate for the next Mack Brown Santa Claus figure to show himself.
  12. There's so much contradicting info out there about the Patterson stuff that I stopped trying to follow. At this point I've heard about half a dozen scenarios are happening. Here's what I feel is the reality based on what I know: - CDC is just a shade above a bumbling idiot when it comes to running a big time athletic department. - CDC got his wings clipped after repeatedly proving himself to be unhelpful in dealing with Herman and then in dealing with replacing him. Hartzell and Eltife have been making the big decisions as a result. - The vast majority of fans and donors think CDC is one of the best athletic directors in the country. - There are serious $$$ guys who really like CDC, because CDC is very good at the glad handing and dick sucking part of the AD job (and is a very nice and pleasant person in general.) These $$$ guys are the types to say things like they like how CDC "represents the University." *insert puke sounds* - There's a misconception out there that not only did CDC lead the charge on hiring Sark, but that he was largely responsible for landing Chris Beard. - A lot of our $$$ guys think very highly of Gary Patterson, and CDC was technically our entree in getting those discussions started. So CDC is getting credit there from some of our $$$ guys. I dont know how vital CDC really is in Patterson's interest, but there's a text group I'm on that is already singing CDC's praises over getting Patterson interested. Thats about everything I can say confidently. But speculatively, I think CDC is using Patterson as a way to get added influence back over the football program. Gary Patterson is a bulldog and would eat Sarkisian for lunch if given enough power and influence over decisions inside the building. After 5-7, I think there are plenty of $$$ guys that would be fine with that. I don't know where Hartzell and Eltife stand on this stuff, but its my guess that there are lots of politics being played here. This is what people mean when they say we are a shitshow due to too many outside influences.
  13. Glasscock is nothing special and could certainly be upgraded.
  14. The year is 2029....Its opening day at Death Valley, and the stadium is filled to its 126,843 capacity. All in orange. All waving orange flags. They cheer for their Tigers, celebrating the back to back national championships, and 4 out of the last 8 national championships. They are a dynasty. The media speculates "is this the greatest team ever?" Clemson, synonomous with "college football", is the envy of every other program in America. The Four Horseman, Cherone Peak, Martravias Bryant, Mike Bellamy and of course Sammy Watkins, are in attendance. Dabo has always credited them with being the Spark that turned around Clemson’s fortune. Though Clemson never actually won a national title while they were there, the 3 ACC championships they won put Clemson squarely back in the mix for the national title hunt from their perch on top of the ACC.Watkins, being Clemson's first Heisman Trophy winner and first #1 pick was greeted with roar, many still wearing his retired #1 jersey. Bellamy, a two-time NFL MVP and first ballot Hall of Famer raised his hand to the crowd, and nearly blinded all from the shine of his 4 super bowl rings. Peake and Bryant recently retired from the NFL as annual pro-bowlers and defining Clemson's new reputation as "Wide Reciever U".Just beside the four horseman, are three former Tiger walk-ons: Will Swinney, Drew Swinney, and Clay Swinney. Will is now an assistant coach at Alabama. Drew, a successful attorney in Atlanta. And Clay, who defied the odds and is now a starting wide receiver for the Tennessee Titans. They stand there, in awe. Tears flowing from their face as they think back to all the practices, hours in the weight room, and tough victories over ACC foes. They are all champions. It has all come to this. This one moment. They know this is what they worked for. They know what it feels like to achieve your dream.Then...an announcement is made, and a banner is dropped...The West Zone will be renamed...the Dabo Swinney Zone. Suddenly, 126,843 chant "Dabo! Dabo!" at the top of their lungs, and thank God that they were patient with Dabo. He asked for patience. He delivered.Clemson.
  15. This is the part that seems strange to me. Technically no one is supposed to be even talking to to them about potential deals right? What Ive heard is the Mannings already understand there's significant corporate interest in Arch. But I doubt Nationwide is going to give him the same amount of $$$ at Ole Miss as they would Texas. Or maybe thats a false assumption? Ive just gotten signals that the Mannings are well aware that Texas is likely to be the most business friendly environment for him, and that Georgia checks similar boxes. Then I think it turns in to who will develop him and get him ready to get drafted as high as possible. I also was told a really prominent A&M booster was a part of this conversation, and the Mannings politely told them no thanks, but that our guys think our position was galvanized by those conversations because it reinforced how valuable the metro areas in Texas are in comparison to the other options. Funny enough, that same aggie would be involved in a lot of this stuff anyways should Arch choose to come here. Thats a pretty good clue of who Im referring to. This guy also has more power in his fingernail than the entirety of the NCAA, hence why a&m laughs at the notion of getting in trouble for what they're doing.
  16. No clue obviously on 1-5, but I'm not worried about #6. It's already a topic and at this point they may already have things generally put together knowing he could commit in the next few months (although I think it sounds like he will wait longer now). If this really comes down to $$$, branding, and exposure, he wont be able to afford to not come here. Its gonna be obscene, and I do worry a bit about a kid being under that kind of pressure.
