  1. He is literally in the portal. https://www.si.com/college/tennessee/football/tyler-baron-enters-transfer-portal
  2. Is Baron a Buck or Jack? They view Moore as a Buck iirc. If they view those guys as fits at different spots they are likely not mutually exclusive portal takes.
  3. Last I've heard is that Mack will probably start out at Nickel as the backup to Guilbeau. Jordan will be moving to safety assuming he doesn't portal (we don't want him to but he would start for a lot of P5 teams so we shall see).
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if Davis gets that freed up Co-DC tag. It may be needed to keep him.
  5. Taaffe ends up looking like our better safety because he at least knows what the fuck he is supposed to be doing out there. Thompson and Crawford essentially guarantee the other team will get free TDs every game due to their completely busted coverages and failures to adjust.
  6. Just for the sake of chaos and fucking with the Aggies the BOR should go offer Robinson like 3.5M a year to be the HC at UTSA once Traylor inevitably accepts the Houston job.
  7. From what I've heard if they go with Traylor he would basically accept any conditions they demand (not in terms of money but other demands like 'keep X coach"). He views this as likely his one and only shot to ever coach at a power program. His next best alternative would be something like the Houston or Baylor job which are both major rebuilds with far less favorable conditions and resources. Beyond his desperation it probably isn't the worst idea to give Durkin a one year trial run anyway. It gives you a built in patsy if things go off the rails. It also likely would keep most of their key defensive guys from entering the portal since, for whatever reason, they all actually seem to like that bastard. If Elko gets the job then Durkin is pretty much 100% out the door since you have to think Elko will just bring Santucci with him. (I still think it will be Elko but some people who would have bet their house on that outcome two days ago now seem very confused at wtf is going on) edit: I mean if the Aggies come to you and say "look you give this guy a one year shot and if it doesn't work out we will spend whatever it takes to get you whomever you want as DC for year two" that isn't exactly an intolerable offer.
  8. Elko 80%, Traylor 10%, Dabo 9%, Hugh Freeze 1%. From what I've heard there is a contingent that really likes Traylor and another contingent that really doesn't want him. Meanwhile just about everyone seems okay with Elko even if he isn't their top choice. So I predict the compromise candidate will win. The 1% for Freeze is because I heard he reached out to them on Monday and I actually think that would be a spectacular hire for the Aggies, even with all the baggage and drama it would cause, but I don't buy his interest in leaving Auburn after just one year being legitimate.
  9. It isn't going to happen but Patterson taking the Baylor job (they are almost certainly firing Aranda) would be such a hilarious Fuck You to TCU.
  10. There is a decent chance Napier will be coaching to save his job that last week against FSU now. There are lot of key people around Gainesville who never wanted him in the first place and they were already handing out freshly sharpened pitchforks and lit torches early this year when things seemed to be headed down the toilet. Obviously that talk quieted down when they started playing better and won some key recruiting victories but if they miss a bowl? I don't think he survives that. If nothing else this should help take the pressure off with Robinson.
  11. Exactly. We shoot Gideon with pistols at dawn and then hire Raymond.
  12. One of the top Rivals guys also put in a pick for Wingo to Mizzou earlier around the time Fong did.
  13. Holmes was such a fucking awful portal take. I called it out for what it was in the transfer thread and some of you got all up in your feels being defensive about a guy you hadn't heard of six hours earlier just because our staff said they wanted him. He looked mediocre in coverage in the ACC playing WRs several tiers below what even the garbage Big 12 teams field. He was (and still is) one of the worst tacklers in all of the FBS. Not just an issue of physicality or size; gets juked out of his damn socks by any kind hint of lateral movement. Edit: It got kind of lost in my rant about Holmes but point is yeah I fully agree that if nothing else yesterday highlighted the huge need for Black or Mack. MM and Brookes need help next year that isn't on this roster yet. To the second part wasn't it Catalon in on that final play? Pretty sure that was #11 that stood flat footed like he was mid stroke in the front of the endzone while the OU wideout went into the back corner completely uncovered for the game losing TD pass (Jerrin Thompson was covering the WR in the shallow route). I'm not entirely blaming him for it because I can only assume his role was spying the QB and it was supposed to be a corner from the other side following the WR as he motioned but either way if Catalon was back in the game for play that important he is likely 100% good to go moving forward.
  14. Ewers is a fucking loser and our coach is channeling his inner Greg Davis with all these bullshit behind the line dump offs that are not going anywhere even if our shitty overpaid wideouts could make a catch.
  15. Obviously the biggest name would be Ryan Williams if he actually goes through with reclassifying to 2024. People say Hudson might be the best WR prospect in a decade, and they have a point, but he won't even be the top rated WR in his own class if Williams goes through with it. Kid is that damned good. We are likely running second with him currently but he is firmly locked to Bama. They've viewed him as an absolute cannot fail to recruit kid in the same way we viewed Simmons this cycle. We will need both the "Is Saban washed?" whispers to continue and their offense to keep looking as horrendous as it does vs USF right now to have a real shot.
  16. Of course we get our first goddamn thunderstorm and sustained rain in like four months on our biggest recruiting game. Hopefully everyone is still able to make it in (shouldn't impact the game itself at least).
  17. All of you are assuming that Simmons wants to go somewhere with more diversity and more people of color. Perhaps it is the opposite? Would explain his ongoing preference for LSU...
  18. That is about basketball. That mediocre as fuck transfer guard Horton was on his visit and they said they would have an update this morning on how it went. Considering the timing pretty obviously about him. Also Gerry didn't jump in to correct the people who immediately clarified it was about basketball which basically confirms it.
  19. I could have sworn multiple sites had Jayden Jackson also announcing today but I can't find anything official saying such. Maybe it was just a rumor that got shot down over last few days.
  20. Five actually. Simmons, Black, McKinley, Baker and Wingo. Just about everyone seems to consider us comfortably leading for Simmons and Black at the moment. Same can arguably be said for McKinley following his visit and the more we hear that travel distance + academics are going to be crucial to his decision the more you have to love our chances. Obviously there is a lot of hype about us and Wingo as well; personally I think all of that is irrelevant until he takes his OV to Tennessee (our real competition) later this month but even still we have a good shot. Finally we pretty much know Baker is a coin flip between ourselves and Ohio St. Crazy thing is unlike past years where we would do these 'dream scenario' type lists none of these really require a bunch of things to fall our way. We could land all five and it wouldn't even be an upset (not that I expect that to actually happen).
  21. I meant whichever the top wideout is this cycle for them that I know cost a fucking fortune. I guess it was probably Smith? Yeah you are right tho Innis was last cycle. edit: actually after looking at their class it would have been in reference to Graham as my friend was talking about absolute insane cost in April (which is when that kid committed). They've had Smith on lock for much longer. Point is per friend in the circles at OSU Baker is really their top remaining target they are willing to dump a ton of resources on so going to be an interesting battle.
  22. Same. McKinley is the second most important recruit in this cycle behind Simmons and we have the advantage of an academics focused mom squarely in our corner. If landing him causes LSU to double down and shift resources to Mack.. so be it. Take that trade seven days a week. Baker would be a lovely get, and securing the heir to Banks in this class would be ideal, but OSU has a lot of NIL ammo left this cycle and he is supposedly their top priority after securing Innis. We would love to have him obviously but would you rather lock down Wingo and perhaps two elite defenders for the same resoures? I certainly don't envy the bastards having to make these decisions. Things were a lot easier back when it was just about finding some kid's cousin a fucking job lmao.
