  1. No worries for Kraft. He can add Ken Starr to his legal team. He did wonders for the Baylor rapists and the Briles gang of abettors and Jeff Epstein with his kiddie corps - billionaire, Florida, illicit snatch...all the same.
  2. Joe knows diddly about the A's and the Giants.
  3. Mark McBath was a stud before he blew his knee out against OU in 1977. When he returned, he was a stud, beat the shit out of Maryland in the Sun Bowl 42 -0 and went off to medical school. Jon Aune also was seriously injured against OU in 1977. When he returned he was not the same player. I don't think he belongs in the underperformer group, especially considering he played under Akers who was not renowned as an offensive genius. After McBath and Aune went down, Randy McEachern took the reins handing off to Earl undefeated until Notre Dame kicked the Longhorns' asses in the Cotton Bowl. Hardeman, Henry and a couple of other Mack Brown gems were known troublemakers in HS, but Brown signed them nonetheless. One of those assholes hooked up with FR Andre Jones the 5* DL from El Paso and led him to a path of crime, drugs, self-destruction and death at a young age. Ivan Williams was a very good player who whose talents dipshit Greg Davis refused to exploit. He tore Nebraska a new asshole on short passes out of the backfield only to have Davis suffer amnesia and not call the play the remainder of the season. Ramonce Taylor is the undisputed winner in the self-inflicted waste column. He was a stud for Texas. Had he kept his life together he would have been an All American and possibly a Heisman contender. He had great vision, balance, acceleration and ability to find holes and hit them quickly. He also had an attitude and focus about advancing the ball to the end zone. It was as if he didn't give a damn about or was oblivious to the opposing players - they were simply pieces on the board to avoid while moving forward. He never seemed to get hit hard when tackled. His Texas highlight films are insane. That 2005 backfield was unparalleled: Jamal, Selvin and Taylor.
  4. Let's not forget that the U Cincinnati trophy case includes more major sport (football, basketball and baseball) national championship trophies than does the job fair center aTm calls its Hall of Champions. Bearcats NCAA basketball champions 1961 and 1962. aTm NCAA national champions ?
  5. I'm with Nate. This is the rare occasion vigilante justice is appropriate. The convicted defendant is a prick and a punk. The rational conclusion is that the DA's office is corrupt or absolutely incompetent or both.
  6. Why would North Carolina hire a 67 year old man who hasn't coached for 13 years?
  7. CkHorn "Whats the guy that came San Jose State during Mack's time. We where a soft as Charmin and in no time, we were spitting nails. Herman is still young. If he isn't too Mensa he will figure it out, although being Mensa seems to get in the way." You are referring to Dick Tomey, former head coach at Hawaii and Arizona (pre-Texas) and San Jose (post Texas) who Mack Brown brought to UT in to analyze the program and to act as assistant head coach and DE coach. Essentially, Tomey told Brown that the team's strength and conditioning was lousy, especially among linemen, and that practices were not properly organized and were "soft". Tomey assumed a significant role in team conditioning and practice routine, leading to a record of 11-1 with Rose Bowl win over Michigan). Brown also brought in Greg Robinson as co-DC. Robinson and Tomey were no nonsense ass kickers who improved matters dramatically. Doubtful Vince and crew win the NC without their influence. Unfortunately, Tomey and Robinson stuck around a single year, and after winning the NC, Brown and the staff reverted to prior form and Texas lost the hard edge that Tomey and Robinson honed. The offensive line in particular declined dramatically after 2005. Soft as Charmin is an apt description.
  8. Mack Brown's special teams varied over the years. His first season, Texas lost at home to NC State when the mighty Wolf Pack blocked THREE punts. A few years later, the Longhorns were doomed in the CCG by a roughing the punter penalty. As others noted, Brown had superior athletes to overcome poor coaching and bonehead moves by staff and players. A prime example was super athlete Brian Robison, kick blocker without peer. The Mack Brown special team coaching decision that removed any doubt that Mack Brown was a lousy coach was his decision to attempt a long fake field goal at Nebraska when the Longhorns were leading late in the game. With the FG team on the field, the short punt was fielded and run back for a TD by an NU player who outran the FG unit for the score. There was absolutely no reason for the call and it gave NU an opportunity to get back in the game which Texas had controlled to that point. Even the dipshit commentators were puzzled by that one.
  9. No intent to diminish the Longhorns' accomplishments this year, but I can't help thinking the ranking is a bit high considering how Texas struggled against a couple teams, including a mediocre Maryland team, and had late game issues against OU and Baylor. Doubt will be all but erased if the Horns crush OSU and beat WVU handily.
  10. While Shaggsters were whining and moaning about Kevin Morgan, the men's swimming and diving team won the national championship. Hats off to Eddie Reese (again) and the team. http://texassports.com/news/2018/3/24/mens-swimming-and-diving-wins-fourth-consecutive-ncaa-title.aspx
  11. In for the Shaggy reincarnation.
