Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
He showed up at Texas and played tackle from day one, no? I thought he gained a lot of weight as a senior. I went to high school with him. He played RB and TE at Desoto. Don’t know how I forgot about him.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
I was trying to think of the players at Texas that did that. Whaley did that from running back (lol) and Lamar Houston grew into a tackle from end. Who else did that at Texas?

That’s depressing but also encouraging in one regard because it’s nothing structural financially. It’s just our approach to recruiting and prioritization.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
Not to point out the obvious but this is not true for one position. And it’s not just Oregon who is taking defensive linemen from Texas. The question is this the right approach? You can argue teams are overpaying for tackles until you are blue in the face but if everyone else pays more than we do and we don’t sign any tackles, we are the ones who don’t know what the market is.

So disregard all history because Georgia missed the playoffs last year? Should we ignore the fact that Georgia is the number one team in the country right now?

Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
I’m not sure I follow your train of thought. The argument that Texas has the better approach over let’s say Oregon because it will yield team first guys instead of mercenaries has not been proven anywhere yet. My Georgia example was meant to show players who care about money only who are also talented do not kill team chemistry and can still build champions. This theory of not going after guys who want to talk NIL first is just that so far. A theory. Sark could end up being totally wrong about it. Time will tell. But you speak of it like it’s been proven already to be the right approach and there is no way to know that today,

I don’t necessarily disagree with you but we have seen Georgia win multiple championships with complete mercenaries on their roster. I’m not sure you make this comment without any data to back this up.

If Weigman somehow stays healthy, he might be the best QB we face. I just don’t know how likely it is he stays healthy for an entire season.

2024 Spring Practice to Fall Camp Thread - Who’s a JAG now?
I’m not sure Golden or Bolden are ahead of Cook.

2024 Spring Practice to Fall Camp Thread - Who’s a JAG now?
I’m all for the good publicity but is it certain that Bond is even the WR1 this year? Ewers/Cook, Ewers/Moore, and Ewers/Bolden are also possibilities.

I guess it wasn’t very clear when you literally listed the priority by position and put tackle after wide receiver.
-
Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
I disagree about defensive linemen being less of a priority than receiver. If there is a position that is ample in the transfer portal, it’s receiver. You can rebuild your receiver room with dudes every offseason if you had to. If it were me, I would only sign two receivers out of high school at most every cycle and money whip 1-2 proven guys every year. Productive wide receivers are always available. Why take the development risk on more than a couple every cycle?

Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
We have the most stacked wide receiver room I can remember and we are potentially bringing in multiple five star receivers in this class. Ryan Wingo and Silas Bolden are going to be rotational players for God’s sake and we cannot sign one single defensive tackle? Perhaps we need to shift a little bit of our focus from wide receiver to the defensive line?

The WAY too early June Presidential Debate thread
You are right. The notion that is was a bad idea to run Biden again is fucking stupid. That’s clear for everyone to see. At least pretend to not be surprised when Trump is elected.

I don’t think this is how it’s going to play out. Your president cannot be Weekend at Bernie’s and your country be taken seriously.

The WAY too early June Presidential Debate thread
This post pretty much sums up how we got here. Hyperbole mixed with self delusion. That’s how you convince yourself that nominating someone who has no business running for president is the right move.
-
The WAY too early June Presidential Debate thread
I get all of that. It’s not me you have to convince. This all comes down to a handful of states and the polling is pretty clear in the Midwest that people think California has been poorly run.

The WAY too early June Presidential Debate thread
Unfortunately the debate performance by Biden was so bad that it did have a real effect on the outcome of this election.

The WAY too early June Presidential Debate thread
If I’m Newsom and I really think I have a chance one day of being president, I wouldn’t want this time to be my shot at it. Whoever gets the nomination is going to be at a significant disadvantage now.
-
The WAY too early June Presidential Debate thread
That may be but the perception is California is not a well managed state by those outside of the state. I am not going to pretend to be confident knowing what the exact course should be in something that has never happened in my lifetime at least. If Biden has to step aside after the Democrat party chose to run him through the primary process, I cannot imagine people being very high on the Democrats. It’s damage control at best and I don’t know what the right next candidate should look like.

The WAY too early June Presidential Debate thread
Newsom is a great debater and very polished. His issue is the perception that he ran California into the ground. The polling on that is pretty clear. I agree with whomever said it needs to be someone that doesn’t have a long history on the national stage already.

The WAY too early June Presidential Debate thread
The same egos that spent the last several months gaslighting the American public about Biden’s health have to suddenly do a 180 on their strategy. It’s not going to be easy but necessary if they don’t want to see Trump win.

The insipid liar vs the cognitively impaired. What a day to be alive as an American!

My first thought was fuck the election. How is he the sitting president right now? That man has the nuclear launch codes and he is clearly gone.

Or it could be that’s she is a completely incompetent moron. A real life-imitates -art depiction of The Veep show that terrifies everyone.
