  1. @TwiceHorn I know GND isn't getting anywhere. But it gets legitimacy when its not aggressively opposed. Hashtags mean everything these days. If AOC actually understood what the GND would do to the poor in this country, she'd backtrack. If she knew what it would do to places like Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, and Latin America, she would be ashamed.
  2. Not supposed to be a both sides thread, Dave. We all think of ourselves as smarter than the general population, no? And probably the average politician. If we don't figure it out, who's going to?
  3. So laying out all the things you think one party did is healthy discussion to you?
  4. I work in this field. I'm very educated in this field. I've read hours of literature and attended many seminars and lectures. I'm paid to know about this. There isn't one realistic path to solving this that doesn't require reducing the world's population by almost half. I spend too much time reading climate policy literature from partisan authors that are writing what they think wants to be read. Invest your money in renewables, I'll be shorting them.
  5. This is good one to discuss. Trump was a clown and a disgrace. But how is someone to vote that couldn't disagree more with the Dem platform? We were told not to worry about the crazies like AOC...now she has a little juice. We are heading full speed into the GND, which will be a disaster, but make Dem donors money. How are we supposed to vote? For a degenerate? Or for someone that is promising to do the opposite of what we believe is most important for the health of the country? Shit sandwich and Giant Douche.
  6. Your belief that most conservatives are guided by conservative talk radio is worse than conservative talk radio.
  7. There are enough shit fighting threads. Let's see if we can have a productive one.
  8. Come on man. Really coming with that? Not what the thread is about. Start one on how conservatives fucked everything up and I'll comment in it.
  9. @Onboard 2.0 @David Dennison Please stop that shit. Let's talk about how to fix things and explore if there's room to meet in the middle. Saw Climate Change mentioned. Let's discuss. I believe humans have been contributing, but realistic ways to respond to it? Haven't seen that yet.
  10. With all due respect, not looking for the dissection of the thread title. Or the literal legal consequences. More of a discussion of how our tolerance of others has brought us to this place in 2021.
  11. This is a thread to discuss the obvious lack of tolerance we have now for opinions with which we don't agree. I have no delusions this will remain civil, thus the need for the discussion. I'm looking for discussion on how we got here, social media? politics? wealth inequality? mental health? How do we fix it and can it be fixed? My thoughts are we've been manipulated to this point by a) politicians who benefit from dividing and securing voting blocs b) media that feeds on division and hate c) social media that has desensitized and isolated us from real relationships with others d) our own vanity
  12. So...no, you don't want to engage. Just insult. Fine with me. I'll start a thread on something...what would you prefer?
  13. The topic of this thread is shit slinging. You want to discuss something, professor? I'm willing to engage and be civil. Let's dig in. If not, get off my leg.
  14. I can tell you how we got there. Social media and tribalism. Everyone has their echo chamber. And it's only getting worse. I absolutely agree. I've followed this board for over a decade and through the name changes. The CR is an echo chamber now and nobody wants to admit it. So is Texags. That bothers me. I know there is much more productive and thoughtful conversation to be had here. Texags...that's just who they are. As far as sports related forums, surly is brighter than most. Open this thing up. Get rid of rep in CR. Don't tolerate shit posting, and lets talk about how we fix the shit that is wrong with this country. My kids and grandkids will have to live here after I die.
  15. Beau, you need to get laid my man. Take that finger and shove it up your ass.
  16. Politically, financially, or otherwise being able to exert a large amount of influence or control over others. Just off the top of my head.
  17. Sure, a portion of them were probably there thinking they could stop the certification. Some were probably there for muh guns. Some were probably racists. A decent chunk were probably there because they believed democracy was being usurped, however misguided that might be. You are talking about the fringe of the fringe. Shall we go into BLM or Antifa riots and poll their motives? Or should we try to discuss how we got to this point of hating each other and having nothing but binary beliefs on politics?
  18. They were there because they were ignorant and easily manipulated. Sound familiar? It should, because it's happening on both sides of the political spectrum. I don't care so much that anyone takes me seriously, but I really hope that most will realize what is happening and take it seriously. Very good topic for another thread if we can discuss it honestly.
