  1. FWIW I overheard them say there were 180 RSVP's. though i would agree the attendance was probably more like 125. Couple of interesting notes that arent necessarily mindblowing if you have been paying attention: 1) No one is getting 7 figure NIL deals from Texas directly. They may be getting there when you add in external NIL deals which is what is intended. 2) You would be shocked at the amount of NIL $ Arch got. (in a good way) 3) Texas appears to be a in a great place currently having met all promises/obligations and following the rules/laws to a "T". Student athletes' marketing agents are taking notice which shools do and do not which is and should continue to benefit us. 4) Agree that they are trying to target a bit more of the $5K- $25K a year crowd but it sounded like they had a pretty compelling story to sell some of the larger donors that are or were historically adamantly against NIL. Certainly a mentoring and networking benefit to this for the student athletes that I hadn't considered for those that dont have a future in professional sports. 5) Want to be humbled? Attend an event like this. That room was littered with some of the most brilliant/wealthy/successful individuals I've ever been around. All very approachable and friendly, however. Also briefly met Gerry Hamilton and Bobby Burton as well as the Surly contingent there - all really cool individuals.
  2. My work trip to Austin today and tomorrow got cancelled so I’ll be there. I’ll have the Daniel Figurelli name tag on if you want to find me.
  3. What bets or prop bets are people rolling with? Chris Stapleton under on National Anthem? Orange Gatorade? Opening kickoff touchback?
  4. I believe that was a soft r on the n word and that guy was white? Nice haircut though, yikes .
  5. Assuming most of those 22 class players stick around until 2024, they should field a pretty good and experienced starting lineup. As it appears now, they won’t have any depth, and their offense will still blow, but I could see how they convince themselves they’re going to blow us out. It will make their loss that much better.
  6. Rumors floating around of Brian Kelly fucking around with his realtor and that being cause for divorce with his wife of 28 years. I’m sure pics will be coming in the next few days, but doubt she matches up to the quality coach O got.
  7. Embarrassing but I’ve never been to a Texas baseball game. Interested in driving up for a weekday game with some friends for the Texas State game in April. Where should I look at buying tickets (what sections) for a pleasurable experience for a 630 first pitch?
  8. It's tiring trying to pilot through these kind of jokes.
  9. yep - websearch for kiddie tax or custodian capital gain tax - something will pop up and its pretty straighforward.

    TexMex

Texas chocolate in Tomball would be my bbq choice it’s only a 15-20 minute drive depending on what part of cypress. Can’t be going there at 9 pm expecting to eat though. There’s a number of great Tex mex places that aren’t chains too. Rudy’s Cantina is my family’s jam on Grant, but La Maria on Spring Cypress has some dope green sauce. Actually the greater Houston area Tex mex is better than the stuff downtown IMO.
  11. How much was the gain, how old is your daughter (and where is the pic godammit) ? Generally it’s reported on the beneficiary of the accounts return, but if you wish to report it on yours there is a mechanism to do that as well. You may have to file the return for her if she is not a normal filer yet.
  12. Y’all are missing the best part which was him threatening blacklab and getting owned publicly.
  13. What I've got to offer is as good as money, sir. These are IOU's $275 thou, might want to hang on to that one
  14. I think there is a significant portion of the fans that just think there is this massive group of multimillionaires out there just begging to throw a shit ton of cash towards this and my little $25-$100 doesn’t matter, so why bother, and they end up passing altogether. Truth is 1) there aren’t nearly as many of those donors out there as you might expect, and 2) those people can also get tapped out and may be donating to the university, the AD directly, or other charitable foundations and there’s not nearly as many as people think. If 20% of the people that think that way would chip in their “measly” $20/month, that’s significant progress. Long term success has got to be a result of big whales that currently don’t understand or agree with NIL to get on board, crowd funding from smaller donors, AND corporate sponsors. I bet you could find one of those three at most universities, two of the three at a dozen or two, and all three at maybe only a handful of universities in the country, including Texas. Only maybe Oregon and Arkansas with Nike/Walmart money could pull it off with just big money guys and that’s because they have donors with fuck you money/fortune 100 companies. My personal opinion is that poor timing is a major factor too with record inflation, consumer credit card debt soaring, increasing taxes at all levels etc. I think if this pursuit and NIL kicked off prior to Covid we’d get a shit ton more $ thrown at it. At least all universities fan bases are dealing with that for the most part.
  15. yea that looks like what it is still. Also - while it is outside of my specialty - if you big swinging dicks with connections to this ever hear they need tax advice let me know. It's not my specialty but I probably have some exempt entity folks that are alumni that would likely advise on things pro bono just to help.
  16. probably the wrong place to ask but does anyone know the EIN for Texas One Fund? There is nothing on their website and not a real good place to ask. I'm trying to see if I can get them setup with my firm as a matching donation organization but I need that number. Looks like they are a 501c(3) on the website, but cant find them on the IRS search either.
  17. certainly true. and I think Mahomes would be out this week if it were a regular season game. Though he could barely put weight on that foot last week and was still able to make all the throws. I think they'll pump him up full of painkillers and he'll still play ok, but it does limit his moving around outside of the pocket where he's most dangerous. Probably justifies 2-3 points IMO. FWIW - the line in my book got as high as CIN -3 yesterday, but went back down to -1 as of this morning.
  18. When everything points to the under, take the over. unless it’s Iowa.
  19. For those that watch this sort of thing, the bengals have gone from a 1 point dog on Sunday evening to a 2 point favorite this morning. Probably people loading up against Mahomes’ ankle. Or perhaps looking at the history of burrow vs chiefs. Regardless, hope everyone betting got in early. Eagles have been hovering around 2/2.5 pt favorites. Im heavy on eagles/bengals teaser and eagles/bengals ML
  20. I can promise you that Sark and Bo Davis were in NW Houston for at least half the day visiting a bunch of Humble ISD schools.
