  1. Speaking of former Texas players, has anyone watched Will Baker this year? The guy looks like a completely different person with facial hair and weight gain. I'm not sure Texas fans would even know it's him.
  2. If OU wants to make the tournament they need to keep Tanner Groves on the bench. Needs to play less than 20 minutes a game. The broadcasters kept talking about "the Groves brothers have been nonexistent so it's a miracle they're in the game" which made me chuckle all night. Groves simply doesn't have the athleticism to play at this level which is why Texas prioritized some other bigs over him in the transfer portal. In Austin, Texas was head hunting Groves on both ends. The worst news for Texas all night was the fact neither Groves brother played much.
  3. Iowa State is going to be the interesting team to watch. They are 4-9 in the Big 12 but they also have 8 Q1 wins. If they finish 6-12 I think there's a legit shot they get in with that many quality wins. I think Baylor is the only team with more Q1 wins in the country.
  4. Tennessee has 3 quick and legit defensive guards. When you can hedge everything on the perimeter like they do it makes things hell for college teams that aren't great offensively. As we saw in Austin. I think Tennessee has the best defensive back court in the country with Zeigler, Chandler, and Vescovi.
  5. These next 2 games at home seem important. Beat two likely tournament teams (Tech and TCU) I would say there's a great chance Texas gets a top 4 seed.
  6. I don't really care if OU gets in but my biggest beef is inconsistency with the NCAA committee. aggy made the NCAA tournament last year in softball at 8-16 in the SEC. If that can get you in the NCAA tournament there's no reason 7-11 shouldn't be good enough in the Big 12 for men's basketball.
  7. People drastically undervalue how bad the bubble is. For instance, the last team in Lunardi's bracket is Oregon right now. Compare Oregon and OU's resume. NET: OU #37, Oregon #59 Q1 wins: OU 3, Oregon 2 Q1 and Q2 wins combined: OU 7, Oregon 6 Q3 and Q4 losses combined (Bad losses): OU 1, Oregon 3 7-11 is definitely getting OU in because 3 more wins are going to be quality wins.
  8. Do Big 12 refs get paid by the amount of fouls they call?
  9. Texas is already golden. Two more wins against any of these teams and they're getting a top 6ish seed. Some of ya'll really underestimate how shitty the bubble is. A 7-11 Big 12 team is making the tournament this year. Edit: I assume you're talking about the bubble but I guess you could be talking about something else.
  10. T-Rank has Texas favored to go 4-1 in the next 5. They've also predicted the last 8 games correctly for Texas. So that's interesting.
  11. aggy fans are pretty much done with Buzz but they won’t be able to fire him until another year or 2 based on the contract.
  12. It's a much better product when they just let teams play. See the OU and Tech game tonight with a foul every two seconds. I thought the "freedom of movement" rule would help produce a better product but it's done the exact opposite. Nobody wants to watch college basketball teams brick FTs for 20 minutes. I thought the KU and Texas game was well officiated because they let both teams play.
  13. Tech is 14-0 at home and 4-6 in neutral/road games. It's almost like Beard knows something about the importance of a home court advantage.
  14. 17-14 and 7-11 in the Big 12 is almost certainly getting OU a bid if there aren't many upsets in the conference tournaments. OU now has 4 Q1 wins and 8 combined Q1/Q2 wins. The bubble is going to be bad and having that many quality wins will get the job done.
  15. I think there will definitely be a 7-11 Big 12 team that makes the tournament this year if one of TCU, OU, WV, or Iowa State ends up with that record. T-Rank projects OU to go 7-11 and based on that resume they have a 66.6% chance of making the tournament.
  16. OU now 3-6 in the Big 12. They're in trouble. 7-11 might do the job but not sure they can get there.
  17. The Groves brothers are good mid major players but they're being exposed at this level. Not athletic enough.
  18. I had this discussion in the Beard thread and rockethorn nailed it. The average fan views basketball like football. They don't understand that you can finish with 10 losses in basketball and still get a fairly high seed dependent on your schedule/wins. Chris Beard got Tech a 6 seed last year with 10 losses.
  19. Did OU fans not know they had a game tonight? Arena is not even 1/4 capacity.
  20. This seems like a massive half for OU. If they fall to 3-6 I'm not sure they can get to 7 wins in the Big 12.
  21. Kansas and Baylor are good but you can definitely beat them if you show up.
  22. If K-State wins a couple more games I don't think that will end up as a Q3 loss. Right now K-State is one spot away in the NET rankings from being a Q2 loss vs Q3 loss.
  23. The amount of stupidity from Texas fans when it comes to bracketology never ceases to amaze me.
