  1. It looked like Barnes was about to throw in the towel on the game before the 2 missed Bishop FTs. That was a 5 point swing from Bishop's 2 missed FTs to a 3 pointer on the other end. It went from potentially a 14 point lead to 9 so Barnes had to chase a result after that.
  2. 1) In terms of pressing, I'm not sure how I feel about it. Texas obviously struggles with it late in games. Is that because Texas is burning clock or they have legitimate issues with the press? My guess is it's probably both but my point was simply that I'm not sure pressing Texas is a wise strategy for a full game when Texas is actually attacking. Texas is offensively challenged so easy buckets are something Texas would love to have. You can generate turnovers against Texas without pressing and without potentially giving up fast break points to an offense that struggles in the half court. 2) Maybe it was bad language on my part but the point was never that "turnovers didn't matter." It was in reference to the strategy of burning clock. Even with all the turnovers, issues with the press, bad half court offense, or whatever the game is over if Texas makes 4/5 of those missed FTs in the final 4 minutes. Point being, that I don't think this game was a great way to evaluate the burning clock strategy. It's obvious that turnovers are problem but that was never my argument...it was about burning clock as a strategy.
  3. My argument wasn't that Texas didn't turn the ball over and that it didn't impact the game. My argument was that burning clock would have been perfectly fine in this game if Texas made their FTs. I'm not sure why you're making this about turnovers vs FTs. They both contributed to the game getting close but point is that even with the turnovers the strategy of burning clock wins this game comfortably with made FTs.
  4. When did I say turnovers didn't play a role in the game getting close? It obviously did but it wouldn't have mattered if Texas made 4 or 5 of those missed FTs.
  5. T-Rank projects a 99.9% chance of Texas making the tournament and to finish with a 4.7 average seed. And that’s based on a 10-8 projection in the Big 12. A 2 game swing in the Big 12 is not going from a 4.7 average seed in the tournament to the bubble. Texas is nowhere close to the bubble.
  6. The issue last night was missed FTs. Make FTs and the game was over. The way Texas defends I really have no issue with Texas burning clock up big. Last night the game got close because Texas couldn’t make a FT. Tennessee got hot at the end but it was still a 6 to 10 point win if Texas made their FTs. Texas has been a good FT shooting team most of the year so I’m not opposed to the strategy combined with Texas being a great defensive team.
  7. I’m not sure because it happens at the end of games so Texas is just looking to kill clock. Last night they had several fast break opportunities but pulled the ball out to burn clock. My guess is Texas probably looks more effective against the press when they aren’t simply trying to burn clock.
  8. I think rockethorn was right that there are a lot of football fans that have no clue how college basketball works. Everyone takes losses in college basketball. This isn’t football where a loss is a deciding factor on your season. There are Texas fans that see 5 losses and think Texas sucks because they have a complete misunderstanding of the sport.
  9. I have no clue why people keep saying this. Texas is nowhere near the bubble.
  10. You’re in almost every thread bitching about Beard and defending Shaka. It’s become obvious you’re upset that he was fired.
  11. It was a trash finish to the game but Beard did a good job on the last 2 plays. 1) Put Timmy Allen in isolation which is probably our best offense. 2) This is smart defense. Helped off the 25% 3 point shooter and let him jack a 3 when they only needed 2 points.
  12. Yeah, it's kind of remarkable Texas is top 10 in adjusted defense based on the defensive rebounding issues. If Texas was just an average rebounding team this is probably one of the top 3 defenses in the country.
  13. This one was pretty predictable. That Kansas front court is straight up awful.
  14. Kansas might be the most overrated team in the country. They're a top 25 caliber team but they are nowhere close to a top 5 team. They don't have a big that you could even consider average right now.
  15. It's good for match ups but in terms of conference strength that's why the SEC isn't anywhere close to the Big 12. South Carolina, Georgia, A&M, and Vanderbilt are all ass.
  16. I said it earlier in this thread. That last play was supposed to be thrown into Gaston but Hunter went away from it for whatever reason. You could see Schaefer losing his mind. But when you have 3 underclassmen on the court that stuff tends to happen as Schaefer said.
  17. The biggest problem with the zone offense is the 3 SRs can't shoot. When Warren, Ebo and JAT are on the court together there's very little spacing. They can have decent games every now and then but you need shooters on the court against a zone. I don't think the execution was bad today outside of the turnovers. Texas got great looks for most of the game. I'm not surprised that Warren was a team worst -6 today. She's a huge liability in games like this where teams leave her wide open and she only takes 2 shots. When you're playing 4 vs 5 on offense it's a problem.
  18. Split. Baylor has to play 3 games in 5 days. All 3 against top 15 caliber teams.
  19. That was not the play designed. You could tell they wanted to throw it into Gaston but Hunter didn't get it to her. Learning experience for those FR to end this one.
  20. They've been sagging off Harmon. Would not hate if she just pulls up for a 3 here.
  21. This is a game where shooting has let us down. We are getting great looks.
