  1. Lol. Walk us through the financing of the buyout and what funds will or will not be available if Urban isn’t the next head coach. You have no clue, so please quit acting otherwise.
  2. Fire CDC to hire UM to run UT football and UT athletics through the next round of realignment and television contracts. Lol.
  3. The bare minimum that can be considered "consistently competitive" is finishing above .500 in conference play two years in a row. Texas A&M hasn't accomplished this "monumental milestone" since before the turn of the last century. They can't achieve this "lofty ambition" this year. Anyone who thinks this aggy program is somehow "special" qualifies personally as being "special."
  4. Then explain to be the differentials in the payouts between Herman's original contract and the modifications contained in the amendments to that contract. Regarding payments to both TH and 1-0 LLC. You don't have a clue. "Yea, but take a second look at the deferred payments due to 1-0 Culture LLC, and then calculate the NPV of the contract." Just the way to sway a high school athlete's college choice. lol.
  5. Do you really think recruits scrutinize prospective coaches’ buyout terms. Lol
  6. The scope and scale of everyting surrounding UT athletics would crush Traylor worse than it did Charlie Strong. You don't take a NASCAR driver and just drop him into F1. Just the media distractions would overwhelm most candidates. Media content = money. Money is the fuel that keeps everything going.
  7. Moving forward, coaches aren't going to have the luxury of being "in play." The early signing date already has changed the dynamics of how coaches are hired and fired. Just how a successful coach leaves his old program to head to "greener pastures" hasn't been worked out. But "instant success" doesn't fit well in the same conversation as "Dec 16 signing day" and "late Dec CFP games."
  8. The thought that Hicks or Hildebrand (or whichever one of them) can force the AD to hire their "flavor of the moment" is thinking whose days are fading quickly. I think what we will now see is the pushback from CDC and those boosters (life myself) who want the entire athletics program put on a new level. I am a big believer in CDC, but he hasn't had near enough time to establish the parameters of power and to the right team in place to run the program for the next 20 yrs. If CDC is the AD I hope he is, the flirtation of UM (that was essentially forced upon him) will prove to be an inflection point. the COVID financial fallout is going to provide the opportunity to do some badly needed restructuring. THAT is the first thing to get right. Texas needs to get the right financial minds in house to help CDC manage the realignment issues and get that right. We still have facilities issues to wrap up. There are a lot of distractions and a lot of higher priorities. In short order, the UT athletics of 2018 will be long forgotten. Things five years from now will reshuffle a lot of athletics department. there are a lot of big picture issues that dwarf "optics" of replacing the head football coach in 2020. Let CDC be CDC.
  9. Herman was just as impressive at U of H. Including when he smoked both OU and Jimbo at Free Shoes. There is a lot to the challenge of picking a good head coach that people are not factoring in.
  10. So the problem isn't that the contract was extended, it was the terms of the extension. It doesn't take much to extend a contract to infinity, yet not change the financial payout of the buyout. What you seem to be having issues with is how the contract was extended, not that the contact was extended. I wasn't privvy to the considerations behind the decision. Personally, I will defer to the individual with greater knowledge of the facts. I can't accept someone with no knowledge of the relevant facts has a better grasp of the situation than someone with far greater information.
  11. An aggy coming in trying to spin this as me claiming to have been right. I believe my exact quote was "*I don't care what the story is, as long as that human piece of shit isn't hired by UT Austin." You aggys are amazing. You did the exact same thing in 2012 - one of the very few years you finish above .500 in conference play and you see your program as something special. 9 fucking FBS wins in a season is the most any aggy program has managed since the 1990s. lol. Try sticking to the facts. I understand facts make aggys very uncomfortable, but this is our sandbox so try to play by the rules of educated people and not paste-eating racist rednecks. Oh, and have a nice day!
  12. Contract extensions mean nothing. Often, they are done to make sure the coach has 4 years left on his deal so other programs can't use the contract issue in negative recruiting against the coach. When Mack was last extended, his buyout was modified. It is very possible to add years, without changing total guaranteed money.
  13. The aggy program you are so impressed with is at almost a quarter century without having been able to bot two seasons back-to-back with a winning record in conference play. Think about that for a minute. Unable to consistently finish about .500 in conference play over a quarter of a century, and THAT is something you are in awe of?! *I don't care what the story is, as long as that human piece of shit isn't hired by UT Austin.
  14. I don't think Herman believes for a second anyone has his back. He hasn't earned that consideration. He has over-promised and under-delivered. Even he can see that. What is upcoming will be big-boy $6+mil/yr "put up or shut up" time. My guess is that CDC will be having some looong discussions over the next few months with various agents, and various top candidates will start making arrangements on their side. The changes in early recruiting/ hiring CFP coaches/assistants is causing a shift in how deals are made. Tom Herman comes back for another year at Texas. Candidates will already be in waiting in the wings. Welcome to the new world of college football. A lot is about to change very quickly.
  15. Just be patient. Let CDC be CDC and not Steve Hicks' (or which ever one of them was pushing the UM bullshit) yes-boy. I don't understand hiring someone to be the decision maker based on his very impressive judgement running another athletics program and then insisting he allow any BMDs to dictate to him what his important hires will be moving forward. My personal choice to head coach would be Brent Venables (especially if Clemson wins another this year). Hiring Venables would royally fuck up recruiting this year, but under the current structure, hiring any assistant for a CFP program will fuck up a recruiting for a cycle. With early signing before the CFP, hiring coaches from CFP programs is going to be done over a lot longer cycle, and will no longer be just "plucking the ripest fruit at he moment from the tree." Things are changing, people. Lots more change is coming our way (COVID financial fallout, realignment, etc). Gotta learn how to roll with the changes.
  16. This is all going to blow up in aggy's face in due time. Just be patient.
  17. I’m confident CDC can rebuild the athletics program. Yes, alumni need to not be meddling in his work and need to judge him on his decisions. That would’ve quite helpful. Take a look at how CDC managed TCU, all with far fewer resources. As long as the alumni, and especially “certain” BMDs chill the fuck out, CDC is probably the right person to be running the show. If you want a true nightmare scenario, who is “next up” as AD if CDC gets fed up with “certain” BMDs trying to micromanage his job for him?
  18. Lol. Coming out of the gate strong this week, I see. I think people know my thoughts on Urban possibly coming to UT Austin. Sorry you are not having as good of a start to your week as some others are.
  19. “Peel off their boot”!? I’ve washed stuff off my boot. I’ve scraped stuff off my boot. What the hell do people “peel” off their boot?
  20. The truly funny thing is that if Manziel had played safety and not QB, today he would probably be the starting Pro Bowl safety for Dallas, pulling in mad money.
  21. At some point one needs to ask what is being released just to gauge the reaction.
  22. Yay! ”He’s turned Penn State into one of the best programs in the sport, going 57-28 overall and 35-23 in the Big Ten since his arrival in 2014.“ Are you fucking kidding me!? Since when is 35-23 one of the best programs in college football? Maybe CDC and Hartzell aren’t the best people to be handling UT athletics.
