  1. I traveled around Japan a few years ago and I didn't see a toilet that wasn't a Toto brand bidet. Those weeks of using Totos were absolutely amazing. Some were more basic models but most were the high end that had all the bells and whistles, even in a simple mom and pop restaurant. I don't know if Totos are noticeably better than the American brands, but they were fantastic. I have three in my house now. Pricey, but worth it imho. I love seeing the change in visitors' eyes after their first time using it and realizing what they've missed all these years.
  2. Right? Not wanting to be murdered by racist cops. That's way too far and entitled! Some might even describe it as uppity. I mean, the police wouldn't have shot if the POC did nothing wrong. Right workswithweed?
  3. No, just a trailer park after graduation.
  4. Any other itinerary thoughts for a 10 day trip? I'm planning a fall trip and am thinking 2 nights Tokyo, 4 nights Kyoto (including day trips), 2 nights Osaka, and 2 final nights Tokyo to fly out. I know there are a lot of other great cities to visit, but I don't want to be constantly traveling on this trip.
  5. My 2 cents. I buy from Eyebuydirect.com. Very stylish glasses that fit well. In the past I always bought Ray Ban glasses from Target Optical and they always cost $250 to $300. Now I spend $25 to $50 for a pair with the high end scratch resistant polarized lenses. If I don't really like the look of them, I put the in the drawer and store them because I can buy ten pairs for the same price as one at the retail brick and mortar. I still get an annual check up from one of the $49 optical places and they tell me my prescription and P.D. that I use to get an accurate online prescription. Brick and mortar is a total ripoff.
  6. Children don't inherit a dead parent's debt. The dead parent's estate would inherit the debt and decrease the children's inheritance. So yes, it's a good idea if you have a terminal illness.
  7. Yep, they should tec the other guy for flopping.
  8. Still better than supporting an evil cunt. Anyone supporting Trump is by definition an evil cunt as well.
  9. Timeout magazine has an awesome food hall with something like 40 restaurants and an amazing self serve beer and wine bar in the middle.
  10. A repeated attack on Beto is that he doesn't have major legislative achievements. Does Bernie have a history of large legislative successes? He's been great at raising issues and taking stands I agree with, but is he known for bringing disparate groups and views together to pass any of his major legislative issues?
  11. I understand the perspective and don't necessarily disagree with it. But who amongst the candidates is truly ready to be president? We have a bunch of Senators who have never run anything larger than a senate staff. We have a couple former mayors who arguably have the most executive experience outside of the two or three governors who have announced but don't appear to have much appeal to anyone. So I guess my question is who has indisputably more readiness than Beto in the current field? Warren has pushed a lot of positive legislation, but aside from her, everyone else including Bernie are just people with lots of popular opinions and positions. Those are all well and good, but merely having good positions doesn't automatically translate in being ready to govern.
  12. Headed there soon for work for a few days. Didn't see a thread for El Paso, so recs for food and stuff to do in El Paso and nearby areas would be appreciated.
  13. That's absurd. Prosecutors substitute charges all the time. Our role is to effect justice, not abide by rigid rules that do not allow for discretion and empathy. Any approach that does not have justice and fairness as the primary aims is unethical.
  14. When I was a baby ADA in SA a lifetime ago I had JP duty once or twice a week. I almost always allowed CDL holders to plea to a different offense that didn't affect their CDL and dismissed the underlying offense that would. I think this was pretty standard practice by the non-asshole ADAs because it was taught to me by a couple more senior ADAs.
  15. I'm a Deschutes Fresh Haze IPA and Stone Grapefruit Slam IPA in.
  16. Yep. Cohen named a bunch of potential lines of interest for investigators. I assume they already know of all these folks, but good to get it on the record.
  17. Agreed. I thought it was a very effective closing.
  18. Meadows knows that his racism, despite all this kumbaya, is going to be a big take away from the hearing. That's why he looks all pained.
  19. The problem with seniority is that the first questioners on the Democratic side are not very good at this.
