No, the guy he linked is the recruit I was referring. I'll bother learning how to say and spell his name if Texas lands him.

Folks are high on Lefau though, no doubt. I don't know if anyone is comparing him to former longhorn greats the way they are with the Cali recruit, but things look promising.

Tagoai is a jet off the edge, but still small. If he tipped 190 I would be shocked. Still a very good looking prospect.

Some things to think about for this cycle:

-The ranking of this class will only be limited by how many high school players Sarkisian wishes to take. If they take 27+, I think they'll be ranked in the top 3. Less than that, top 5.

-They're getting outreach from players and their camps at multiple positions. NIL rep helps, but so does putting guys into the league and running a style of play that guys find attractive. In a stacked in-state class at WR, they're getting national interest and could take basically whoever they want. OL looks similar.

-Notice how they're working OVs for more players than they have scholarships available at numerous positions. You're seeing it at OL, Edge, DT, TE and DB. I would not be surprised to see some more Nate Kibbling happening this cycle at some of these spots. You want in? We need your commitment now or we can't take it. We have a bunch of guys coming in next week for the same position if we don't have your commitment. Obviously that isn't going to happen to the truest 5 stars, but it could happen at a very, very high level of talent in various spots.

-Notice how they're not working on back-ups at a few spots. That indicates, to me, that they know who they're getting and the NIL element is already sorted. There isn't a backup plan for RB1, MLB1, OLB1.

-Some of what Texas does at the HS level is going to be informed by this next transfer cycle. They're expecting to lose some guys at the 3rd string level even they don't want to do so. They have to no matter what. If they lose 4 OL instead of 1-2, that means 5-6 OL instead of 4-5. Similarly at LB or DT. Positions that they'd generally do better developing than grabbing from the portal will play a bigger role in the class.

-The QB thing is kind of weird and might get weirder.

-If there is more than another 1-2 commits ahead of June, I'd be kind of stunned.

I don't fully comprehend why the QB situation with Lacy is even a thing. Is it just a territory pissing match with Auburn and Bama as they muddy the waters with NIL? Is he not fully sold on *gasp* having to sit more than 1 season? Is he even fully convinced he wants to come here?

  4. This is just an intern level journalist acting like Arch owes him something. He can’t fathom why Arch didn’t allow him an interview when they allowed literally zero interviews during his recruitment. “Oh man… lighten up. I have a studio apartment to pay for. First Kim Kardashian no showed for coffee, then President Biden ghosted me, and now Arch Manning won’t talk to me. This is bullshit man.”

Didn’t aggy try to break the news first that big bad tu moving to the secsecsec? Or negotiating to do so? By that comparison, was aggy the leader in the decision to bring Texas to the conference?

And also didnt they scream and throw fits in the floor to every media outlet that would listen saying that the first game back was at Kyle Field when no such conversations had taken place?

Consider a recent instance: Chris Del Conte, at a Q&A session on the Texas campus, announced that they would be playing Texas A&M annually. This is an interesting point of political maneuvering. Let me explain.
By announcing this in such a context, Del Conte has the plausible deniability of saying he was talking about one of the big questions relevant to Texas Athletics moving forward. However, he also was the first to announce it, giving the impression that the Longhorns are the leader in the arrangement. Not only this, but a necessary consequence was revealing that the SEC would be moving to a different scheduling model than the one that they had previously been operating under!
This is the kind of underhanded politicking that we can expect from our neighbors to the west.
There’s an undying, obsessive concern with image out there that leads to putting people in positions of power out there that are experts in, if nothing else, public relations and image management.

Well check out the big brain on BurntOrange&White ;)

It's a little low on the FBS pecking order, but still checks some boxes.  But our fancy SEZ & new NEZ scoreboard/seating configuration aren't gonna pay for themselves.  2025's San Jose State, UTEP, Sam Houston State, and Vanderbilt...that's 2/3 of our schedule that's not gonna get favorable TV coverage and likely kick-off in the morning on ESPNU or some shit like that and kill concession/catering revenue and TV eyeballs.  Ah well, gonna be some growing pains in the new format.

You act like this is different than every other SEC team. They have the same schedule configuration and half the teams play Vandy. We are the draw, not the other way around. We got pissed because Fox perpetually put us in their national timeslot at 11AM for over half of our games every season and we were playing Kansas, Iowa State, and Baylor. Are you the chair of the concessions committee?

    It’s 100% sec.

I have heard otherwise from media types. It doesn't meet the SEC criteria of "accretive addition", so it would be a debatable pickup for the SEC other than locking B1G schools out of Florida. Florida doesn't want them there, and they have shown that when they don't get their way they will be a petulant child shitting in their high chair out of spite. If I were one of the P2, I would think twice about having them in the conference. It would be hilarious if they shot their way out of the conference, and then did not get an invite from the P2 and had to settle for the B12. That said, if they are going to all of this trouble, surely they have a wink wink acknowledgement that they would get an invite somewhere right? Right??

The ability for their fanbase to get riled up over something like this always amazes me. They actually make more money out of this, yet they are constantly shadow boxing and playing the victim. Are they surprised that ESPN is giving us a settlement for LHN? That was reported from the very beginning. Unrealized money being moved around to avoid out of pocket payments is just how the sausage gets made in large financial deals. But don't let that cloud the fact that Bob Iger has been compromised and now wants to see Sip on every station in his arsenal at all times.

I don't think even Stephen A. Smith is that stupid.  That's Desmond Howard territory.

This is fairly on brand for Stephen A. He says some of the stupidest shit imaginable, and thinks that if he yells it at you it will come true.

Yeah, good luck against Cougar High.

IF... and it is a big if, they make it past nebraska. Houston is going to embarrass them.

Five-star prospect on Texas: 'Why wouldn't you want to be a part of that receiver room?'

    Hank South (Horns 247)

SPRING, Texas — Five-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett is big on relationships when it comes to his recruitment, and with Texas he has just that.

“Me and Coach (Chris) Jackson, we have a great relationship,” the Sachse standout told Horns247 at Under Armour Houston. “We talk on the phone every week or every other week. And I have a great relationship with Coach Sark and Coach (Tashard) Choice. And I also have a good relationship with one of the players, Johntay Cook II, we both played on the same team with Texas Flex.”

The Longhorns have hosted Lockett four or five times so far and will welcome him back on April 6 and June 21-23 for an official visit.

“Going back to me and Coach Jackson’s relationship, when he was back in Jacksonville, he was coaching the best of the best at wide receiver,” Lockett said of what has Texas in the mix. “With him having guys in the wide receiver room like Ryan Wingo, Isaiah Bond, Johntay Cook II, DeAndre Moore Jr.. The list goes on. Why wouldn’t you want to be a part of that receiver room and get developed by one of the best receiver coaches in college football.”

Other schools of note Lockett brought up were LSU, Ohio State, Florida State, Penn State, and USC, where he’ll officially visit on June 7-9.

“I’ll have my decision made by August,” he said.

    What are the important factors?

“Definitely a family feel and development-wise,” he said. “I’m really big on family. It’s going to be hard to leave when I go to college. I need a second home when I go off to college, people that are going to accept me in.”

At 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, Lockett is ranked the No. 4 wide receiver and the No. 20 overall player in the country, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

    Top-15 overall, #2 WR.

How about we land Moore, Locket and Ff*** - 3 of the top 4 WRs in the nation?  Getting one of those 3 would be good ... all three?

    200.gif

In order of want, I would go Moore, Ffrench, Lockett. All three are ballers, but Moore has a little something extra getting separation from defenders. Ffrench looks to be a nice combination of YAC and physicality, and Locket is just a speed merchant with great hands.

    Neto is coming for Hayden!!

I wouldn’t be surprised if Neto is starting over Hayden next season

Conner couldn't get push in the run game in the B12, I don't see how they are realistically going into spring thinking he would be a starter in the SEC. I would imagine either/both Neto and Hutson pass him in the spring or summer. They may keep him as a starter in the spring in order to keep from losing him in a transfer window.
