  1. I was definitely in that camp. Then I saw some of IT’s Clemson review. Waddlington was talking about how the biggest issue for Clemson is busting coverages. they tend to play a lot of man in the secondary. Given their youth it may be tough to put new stuff to confuse Quinn, because it may end up confusing the secondary more. I’ll assume he is correct there. IF Clemson has to be generic vs Texas. I at least like Texas’s chances to put up pts in the opening script and the 1st half
  2. Gotcha. Funny the traditional RB screen is working better. I guess defense have seen the "cool" shit so much on tape, that is what they are prepared for.
  3. I was talking about the misdirection screen plays. Quinn turns bask and throws back. Texas ran the double fake screen vs Georgia, which featured some spinning.
  4. I will admit they have worked plenty of times, but I hate them. They are all or nothing plays. It either works great or is complete drive killer
  5. The WR room is worse. Turns out you just dont replace a 1st and 2nd rounder without a little talent drop off. The room is still very good. Expecting 3 year Ewers to be a top 20 QB should not require a 1st and 2nd round WR talent. Last year 15th by QBR and 17th by Rating. This year 33 by QBR and 38th by rating.
  6. He is on the shorter side of things. 6'1"-6'2" area. Some of it is his delivery. He doesnt always come over the top. Lot of 3/4 delivery
  7. Show 6 and dropped 2. OL picks blocks it well. He missed it, never came off his pre-snap read. Nice call by Florida and tough pick up, but he never saw him. Florida DC got him.
  8. Klatt picking Texas to cover
  9. Clemson has some NFL guys, but they are in short supply. This is a defense that Texas should be able to wear down. On paper it sets up well for 1st Half/Script Quinn, hit some big plays (Clemson was dead last in 20+ yard plays given up in the ACC), and then hand it over to the run game in the second half.
  10. I outlined this already, but the Texas offense is #2 in 20+ yards plays in the nation. They are also prone to penalties, turnovers, negative plays, and red zone struggles. They have shown they are explosive, but not efficient. There are offenses with the exact opposite profile. Those are offenses you want to get after, because they are capable of chocking the clock and winning.
  11. yes, Texas is 87th in Sacks allowed. There is a lot evidence to for a DC to look and say "Lets force these guys to execute, if they do they win"
  12. I put a post up on the Texas offense. Saying that the best way to stop the offense is limiting explosive plays and force them to execute long drives and execute in the red zone. That made me take a look at Clemson's defense. Nobody in the ACC gave up more explosive plays than Clemson (67 plays of 20 yards). They rank 123rd in the nation. That should bode well for the offense.
  13. They do that because the Texas offense remains reliant on explosive plays. It would be stupid to load the box and expose yourself to big plays. Think about it. What defines the Texas offense? 1. Speed at the skill positions 2. Penalties (80th in the country) 3. Turnovers (114th in turnovers lost). Texas has 2 clean games all year (Michigan and Arkansas) 4. Inconsistent Qb play 5. Inconsistent running game 6. Poor Red zone offense (93rd) Take away explosives, force this offense to drive the ball by executing 10-15 yard play drives, and the offense will struggle. You know there is going to be a penalty or negative play along the way to force a 3rd and long. You are going to get turnover or 2 (14 turnovers by the offense the last 7 games). Get aggressive vs Sark and you know he is going to get you on a couple calls. Why risk that? Make an offense that has shown it struggles to consistently execute drive the field. Even if they do execute, you know they have issues in the red zone.
  14. I think he smart enough to figure out it was a joke
  15. There is a difference. The staff tried to give him a chance vs Kentucky. He immediately fumbled. I am sure if Texas is up 20 in the 4Q on Saturday, he will get another chance. You cannot risk losing a game at this point because you want to give a freshmen another chance. It’s simple, he will get his next opportunity in mop up duty. There just wasn’t an opportunity to give him in the A&M or Georgia games
  16. I think this one is a little different. These discussions rarely happen to a QB in his 3rd year starting. They haven’t happened since Simms was the starting QB. The situations are very similar. This is the best chance Texas is going to have at NC since Colt. Next year is at a minimum a reload. You clearly have a QB that has underperformed expectations and that isn’t up for debate (see top 10 pick predictions and Heisman talk). You have Arch on the bench, who looked excellent in his last start. You can add the media flaming the flames and it’s not hard to see how this discussion has become so heated.
  17. That was not really what was called for, so I don’t get this argument. A QB taking over a game would imply winning in a shootout or having multiple 4Q TD drives. That is not the same as needing 17 over the course of a game.
  18. I talked to Sark. Keep this on the down low, but the Playoff Redzone package will be Arch at Qb and Ant Hill at RB..
  19. Clemson has forced 12 turnovers the last 5 games. Moffa's injury has killed their run game. Klubnick is going to play Sam Elhinger ball against us (30+ pass attempts and 10-15 rushing). I dont see them capable of dinking and dunking down the field consistently. They need to hit Wesco on explosives. Texas defense is really good at limiting explosives, so good luck. If Texas plays a clean game, this will be a relaxing watch.

  21. did you miss this?
  22. I thought it died last year when Texas made the playoffs. I pretty sure it died this year when Texas was the only team to make the playoffs the last 2 years. That kind of seems like back.
  23. Games like this is where you really miss Bijan. He had the ability to set up blocks and make OL right. Definitely a couple runs, Texas could have gotten more out of the blocking. One theory I have seen thrown around is Texas is too diverse in their run game. Usually teams specialize in something like OZ. Texas is running everything, which has its benefits, but it also highlights they dont have that go to play.
  24. Come on. The 4 players on the LOS are #13 Mykel Williams (265), #92 Dawkins (280), #11 Walker (245), and #10 Wilson (250). You have #3 Allen (LB) and #2 Mondon (LB) completing the 6 man box. That is not an honest run front and why would it be on 3rd and 27. Similar to PK's pass rushing specialist package. They subbed out a DL to bring in an extra LB. Its 2 DL, 4 Lbs, and 5 DBs. Shows you how Kirby feels about his LBs.
  25. That is a nice catch. That is the trap/wham block I was looking for. Gunnar makes the WHAM block. Ear holed him. That is nice way to create favorable angles for Gunnar to execute. (WHAM block is just using the H-Back/FB to trap to a DL) Here it is Here it is is time stamped
