  1. How about a song driven by the bass guitar? Johnny Marr's greatness combined with a relentless bass🔥...
  2. 😀just noticed my error - Beauty and Essex-it’s 420 here
  3. In Vegas now...Definitely hopping last night after the UFC fight I’m a poor judge of busy because it’s been over 7 yrs since Ive been here. Our Uber driver said it was average busy in his opinion_ he said the busiest since covid was back in April when the Asian boy band BTS was here. Friday night was Absinthe - fun show. Last night Morrissy , Chris Rock tonight. Dining highlights so far are Beauty and Sussex and Lotus of Siam. Only negative I have thus far is getting my ass handed to me at the craps table:)
  4. Anyone have some good jelly/jam or other recipes? They are not ripe yet but I have heard of some folks using green grapes....
  5. We built our pens at 36' diameter circles - large enough to not have our feeders throw too close to fence to tempt the hogs or cows to lean over or try to get under and fuck up the hog wire. We had a few very athletic cows that could hurdle the 36" hog wire so we went with electric fence on top to curtail the jumping bastards.
  6. These are large feeder pens and we did 5 of them and yes, there is sporadic limestone about 5-6" beneath the surface that we hit on about 1 out of 5....Not pictured is the rock drill we use prior to setting the posts....Yes, my hunting partner is an engineer so spray paint is a requirement-haha! We also string the top of the fence with electric wire to keep the cows from messin with the pen..
  7. We used a 20 gal, 225 psi air compressor and a regular small generator - 4000 kva I think....See below the requirements - looks like 70 psi minimum https://www.rohrermfg.com/post-drivers/98e-basic-man-saver-t-post-driver/
  8. Lats are low on my priority list at this point in my illustrious and well lived life. I'm really into the art of how to work smarter, not harder...Im a slow learner but catching on pretty quick now😄
  9. Well I tried to post a vid but failed so here is a photo...
  10. Installed some new feeder pens this weekend. I introduce you to the “ManSaver” - quite possibly the greatest poor man invention known for driving T posts. It feels like cheating and I love it! (Too bad this thing wasn’t around when I was 18 and spent a whole f’ing summer constructing a horse pen:)
  11. Agreed. There isnt' really any sub par anything in Switzerland;) Ive never even seen a junky house or car while traveling there. I have visited Zermatt, Saas Fe and LAAX. In my experience, Euro skiing is much different than North American skiing in that Euro skiing is more like ski touring as you can ski to and from adjacent towns so there is alot of horizontal skiing rather than the up and down of North America ski resorts. In LAAX, our Swiss friends would plan our day by picking out which restaurants and bars we would be skiing to that day like planning a road trip! Euros love their Carving! Our swiss friends would freak out when I would ski off into some ungroomed moguls or powder off piste:) Euro skiing is a really great experience for the culture and amenities but after skiing there and in South America, I still contend the best snow, best consistent conditions, and terrain, and tree skiing in the world is in the NW and Western North America - you really cant beat what we have in the states....Japan is still on my bucket list. Photos below are from LAAX:
  12. I highly recommend Brushbuck for a guided tour: https://brushbucktours.com/ They have customized mercedes sprinter vans in a small group of 6-8 people with large windows and the guides know where the wildlife is. They took us to several spots outside of YNP on the drive from Jackson Hole to see Moose and antelope. It is a very efficient way to cover the highlights of YNP if you are not familiar with it. The guides can park up front at all tourist areas, they know all the interesting history and tidbits, they have spotting scopes for your use, and we amazingly saw a wolf which is not very common and I am sure we would never have seen one without our guide.
  13. Ascona - Highly recommend Ristorante Seven Ascona on the boardwalk of Lake Maggiore. A Michelin guide pick. Had a really nice meal there almost a decade ago so nothing current but the view of the lake was as good as the food. Super creative menu.
  14. I have skied more double blacks in my 40's and 50's than I ever did in my 20's and 30's....I am actually a much better skier in my 50's than at any age - mostly because I have the time/mountain home and funds to ski more than when I was younger. Both my kids are fortunate I afforded them the ski life since they were 3 yrs old and both are very advanced skiers that can ski anything most mountains can offer so they keep me young trying to keep up with them. That being said, I have severely snapped/torn both right and left calf muscles in almost back to back years that occurred 3 years ago. Both injuries were in double blacks and both were tight tree runs. I have fully recovered both calves and I now am back to skiing double blacks but I have limited the tight tree runs and when I do ski them I slow way down and don't try to "rip" them like I used to...Getting old sucks but damn I love to ski so much it is worth the risk and pain that comes with it...I sometimes ski with a guy that is 76 years old and can "rip". He is my hero....I hope to still be making meaningful turns when I am in my 70's.... This! I don't try to slug it out anymore on the double blacks when conditions are not perfect - too old for that. But, when the powder and coverage is there, I will dive in for a taste every now and then.
  15. Fire sucks and hopefully more rain on the way for some of us early next week! For those who haven’t burned up, good luck thIs weekend chasing the Toms. They are looking to be in the mood here of late
  16. A bush pilot we had in Alaska who takes private groups to watch Grizzlies told us that when you hear a griz "click" his jaw it is usually the last thing they do before they charge. It apparently is their last expression of agitation before they act.....I hope I never hear that sound....
  17. Just got back from skiing Taos on Mon and Tues - magical, glorious conditions and weather. 50+ inches in March and snowing again today.....
  18. Feral fetus' are a delicacy. Melt in your mouth tender...
  19. Last Sunday night carnage....it was our final push for the hog contest - nothing over 225 lbs but it was fun
  20. Received these today via mail! Can’t wait to hang them in the ski condo !! These look even better in person. Thanks Walter! Well done!
