  1. Luckily for everyone here I usually ont bother reading 247 articles like that so I will spare everyone here any comments I may have had about the article had I read it.
  2. All that’s fine and I don’t think you’d get much debate from anyone that he’s a better prospect than Gbenda but why are they being put forth by you as an either/or proposition when they probably won’t even play the same position?
  3. Lulz. So beyond what Sydney Carton already pointed out, you would forego a Rover/Mack prospect so you could take a B-backer, in this hypothetical world where we can just get Bru McCoy out of thin air but we’re not allowed to take 4 LB commits?
  4. Well that's because you're a dumbass. Real grass fields and true burnt orange uniforms WITH NO BLACK!!! or GTFO! /99% of the surl.
  5. Lulz. Good Lord. It should honestly be difficult to screw up that many things in such a short article.
  6. Looks like Roschon still has some problems with his base and transferring his weight from his back foot to his front every time he throws. His feet were a little too close to each other there and he had times where his throws were all arm because he's not transferring his weight. He tends to throw better on the run because he naturally shifts his weight forward on the run, but you don't always see him do it in the pocket. He improved on this from his sophomore year film to his junior, but it looks like he still has a little ways to go. Thankfully, he'll get time in the program to work on that before he has to see the field. If he can get his mechanics all cleaned up, he'll be a special player.
  7. Lulz. I've never been able to figure out what rating system IT uses. None of the individual sites have him as a 5 star, so I'm guessing IT is using its own ratings system, a la TexAgs? Idk. Maybe @Fud can enlighten us. Also, Rivals has Shepherd as a 3 star and the 58th player in the state. They've also got him listed 32 pounds below his actual weight, so I'd guess he hasnt' attended a Rivals camp in a while which would explain such a bad ranking.
  8. Sounds like Beck was the lead recruiter on this one, which make sense since he has some AZ connections and has the QB spot all locked up. Beck may not be a very good OC, but he's a hell of a recruiter.
  9. TTech does. Ole Miss won 9-8 last night.
  10. He could be Shaka's first true stretch 4 at Texas. I think Shaka's offense works best with a stretch 4 but he's never quite had that guy. Lammert was ok but not ideal and Osetkowski can't actually shoot from the perimeter and turns it over a ton.
  11. I like Hepa a lot. I think he's our best bet at being a big contributor as a freshman. If he does, I think it'll be more as a wing/ true stretch 4. I'll be really surprised if he has the strength to hold up down low in his first year.
  12. Lulz. They legitimately called him "deceptively fast" and compared him to a white slot receiver from SMU. Oh, and they think Reggie Hemphill-Mapps is still on the team. ESPN recruiting is doing their best to give Rivals a run for its money. Fortunately for ESPN, they just can't quite keep up with Rivals' incompetence.
  13. You might be the dumbest poster on Surly, which is saying something. First, your characterization of Bamba's year last year could not be more wrong. Second, it's not that we can't be good because we lost Bamba. It's the lack of big men replacing him. We don't have anyone who can come close to replacing his production (and Sims' production as the backup C), therefore there will be a drop off. I don't need advance stats to show this because i can tell with my eyes, but because you're blind as a bat and dumb as a rock, we'll show some stats to back it up. Advanced stats in college basketball are iffy so, again, not relying them but they confirm what's' shown on the eye test. Also, all of these metrics have individual flaws, but the fact that they all agree that Bamba was by far our best big man last year and it wasn't even close should tell you something. Using sports-reference: Bamba: ORtg: 118.5, DRtg: 89.6 (both of those are fucking elite). WS/40: .212. BPM: 11.2. These stats are all in the ballpark of what Bagley and Ayton did last year; this is the type of impact Bamba had. Osetkowski: ORtg: 99.9, DRtg: 101.3. WS/40: .097. BPM: 3.6. Sims: ORtg: 108.4. DRtg: 100.8. WS/40: .109. BPM: 2.6. What these stats tell us: Bamba was great last year and was, by far, our best player, excluding Jones. He and Jones (who had a 121.3 ORtg, confirming what we saw on the court) were shaping up to be All-American level performers until Jones tragically came down with cancer. Osetkowski is a horribly inefficient offensive player, to the point where he was actually below average last year. This matches the eye test and raw stats, 40% FG, 29% BTA; those are god awful numbers. Sims was good for a true freshman and will likely become a very good player, but Sophomore Sims would have to take an unbelievably large jump to get to where Bamba was this past year. And once again, it's unlikely we get Sims' production as the backup C last year out of anyone on our roster next year. All this stuff is what myself and many other posters saw on the court last year. You perception is way off, and I'm confident this will do nothing to change your mind but whatever, it's good for the rest of the folks to see anyways.
  14. I don't think it's legit. I don't think he's gone to any camp-type setting where they timed 40s, so definitely take with a grain of salt.
  15. Not that I recall. @angelos's frog had a good writeup about him on the non_UT recruiting thread when he committed to TCU. Cumbie needs to hurry up and become a HC. That guy's recruiting way too well at the QB position for the frogs.
  16. If I did that every time the surl/shag made me feel that way, I'd probably owe AT&T about $100,000 at this point.
  17. I believe that's coonass for Javonne Shepherd but I've never been too fluent in coonass. Maybe we can get someone who's spent way too much of their life around aggy to confirm, like @bizzle or @Walden Ponderer
  18. Smith can obviously play so his ranking doesn't really matter but his best bet at becoming a 5 star would be to get "official" numbers at a place like the Opening and then have a big weekend there. It doesn't look like Smith ever competed at an Opening Regional, so he's not going to be able to do that. It does look like he'll be at the UA All American game, so that's his best shot at jumping in the rankings but that would probably be too late to get to 5 star. He's currently #104 in the composite with ESPN having him at 84, RIvals at 104 and 247 at 178. 247 seems to have him way too low, and I'd expect they update that at some point, but him not going to any camps at all is probably deflating his ranking.
  19. Yeah. I saw him hit 96 2 or three times on the scoreboard, and he was locating. Just absolutely fucking nails. This season has been a ton of fun. This team's not executing as well as a lot of the Augie teams but they've been improving in that area (save for the Big 12 tourney), and that combined with their above average hitting has been a pleasure to watch. If the pitching keeps up (big if, I know), we could definitely make a run.
  20. Best case scenario with him is LSU imploding but Coach O staying on. Even if they're horrible this year, he probably sticks if LSU gets a new coach to come in and sell him on the future.
  21. Shugart was incredible in the 9th. Coming in with bases loaded 1 out is tough and he was throwing heat from the second he got on the mound. Both those IU hitters were completely over matched and struggling to even make contact. Can't say enough about his performance in that kind of a situation.
  22. Well yeah, but aggy had more grit and want to in those four innings, so they were the real winners.
  23. Can anyone point me to the thread where we celebrate sweeping the Regional? JFC people. I just watched 3 great games of baseball this weekend by a team that started out 9-9 and has pulled it together to have a great season and this thread is page after page of bitching about nothing.
  24. She fits in so freaking well with aggy. I can't wait til the fanbase turns on Jimbo and she turns on them. It's gonna be so entertaining. She's gonna go full Derka on their ass 24/7.
