I think this is accurate. Mackovic, nice of a guy as he was, all offense all the time - never even thought about defense. Every good athlete - offense.
Remember when Sark was hired all the talk about him calling plays? It might be in his contract - I've never read it. He is an elite offensive mind and thought of one among his peers.
@Park GothicI really don't know sir and you may be right. I just know the man is human and has been through some real stress - the kind that can temporarily break people. I think many of us have seen some of the things I speculated on break strong as granite friends for a bit. Whatever happened (no idea - didn't notice or know), he's back and fixing some things on his staff.
If we could target an OL coach - any ideas from some that know more than me (most of you - I have a buddy that spent years with the 49ers as a OL and knows his stuff is my all) about a target? I want a new safeties coach too. Muschamp is human and will have plenty - don't want him tied up coaching a position. Oversee it all, yes.
Edit: His kid or wife good have been ill. Anyone that's had a child or decent wife knows how this can scare you. I do realize there are a fair portion on you that wife sick - cha-ching let that bitch suffer some.
Fairly certain he needed a bit of time for one or a combo of those. I never knew he took a bit of time but hope it helped him.
Only speculation but the man has had a rough marriage. Going from getting divorced, ok we're going to work on it to having a kid. Anyone that has been married for a bit of time knows such a public getting divorced to all the other things is very odd. I've seen these things break people for a time.
His job is hard. There are no days off. Stress can beat you down from this alone add in the above stuff. He may have just needed a mental break.
He's also a recovering alcoholic. There's a reason those support groups have mentor type people. That never goes away. Maybe he needed a bit of time with recentering himself considering how much he was dealing with.
Or shit, maybe he had COVID.
All just ideas - no facts. But those are things that can beat a person down. I really like Sark and how he represents Texas. I'm cheering for him and respect the man. Now there has to be a badass OL coach we can money whip out there?
we are straying and I fear @immamac. We, I think sometimes forget how good Priest Holmes was and his NFL contributions. My only, no point was to tell part of why Texas is a real Blue Blood. I'm glad some of you remember and thank you @Pato del Muerto @UDontKnow @South Austin
@Armybratas always sir.
Aggy like to claim being one - in what fucking history?
True programs that can claim that no order - Texas, Alabama (no doubt), OU (hurts me to say but for sure), USC, Michigan, is tOSU here?, ND. not totally sure where to go after those - lil help?
No real news but some may enjoy. I on campus met (under and grad so yes, I was at UT for a wonderful 6 years) Ricky, Hadnot, Priest. All of those young men had tree trunks for legs. Ricky even talked about it with me how he couldn't find jeans to fit him. He was just that kind of guy talking to a 140lb fellow student. Legs to big waist too small. Imagine the power or watch some on those games.
I use to see Mackovic every Wednesday - had some bullshit morning elective in Bellmont. Super nice man. He asked me to come to our bowl game (Arizona area or something against NC - Priest went nuts on them).
I told him, I'd love to but was broke. The next Wednesday I saw him he gave me 2 tickets and said I hope you make it son. Very nice man and like Sark offensive genius.
@Vertuzziman I have no clue. I couldn't get through really reading that shit. Skimming summary I got was refs robbed them, they somehow played for a championship, expect a new fake one to appear, Longhorns are the problem.
Someone with more concentration than I have may have other ideas. Oh, and they really do fook sheep, goats or both?
I really appreciate the posts here. Got to say you give @RomaVictaa bone and it's wonderful. Many others too. I'm on record pre-season saying Reed was a terrible QB. I am also on record calling for Arch to be benched at times. Arch seemed to figure out feet don't catch balls.
aggie hires a 2 year HC from Duke and expects greatness? Well, that's Gary Owens funny. Of course he has no tree or ability to get top guys.
I still say Flood can be upgraded. Sark's recent hires seem top notch.
For two years in a row we've kept aggy out of the SEC championship. Wisner is balls out on them. aggie is going to have a really bad next year. Our schedule is no joke either.
Anyway, thanks to all of you that give us the aggie tears of failure.
You sell yourself short. You have a good mind. I've got some inside knowledge. I gave almost 500k last year no strings and no brag - I have MS so i'm dying either way. I think your thoughts matter, sir. And I like to hear them, friend.
Didn't realize the backstory sir. His YouTube was great but I defer to you and @closetojumpingon real football stuff. Is Baugh the primary still?
And I think Wisner is my favorite player in the Sark regime. He was put in a terrible situation for him and gave everything to play hard. That young man really deserves our respect. Anyone that thinks he wasn't playing through injuries ... He carried our running game. Pure Longhorn heart and soul - wish the best for him always.
This could be promising. Wisner is really good but is a scatback type. Baugh would give Cooper a free year to develop. And on Wisner, that young man has shown tremendous heart and he owns aggy -/respect.
Not funny. Kirby already owns Sark. Hell, GT gave them better games than we did in 3 damn tries. We are already GA/Kirby's bitch. And I live in Atlanta with a sister and brother in law that went to GA. Rest of my family went to Alabama. It's terrible.
I'm with you on this. It's a pride thing and being a true Blue Blood. A free month to train our guys for next year is huge. Titles mentioned above - well, shit if we could just catch OU, I'd be happy. Alabama - won't happen in my lifetime.
As a staff we seem to lock up our priority guys in the portal fairly fast in past years. I'm confident there are a few conversations being had.
Now, the bullshit that Flood has created ... tamper whatever, fix it. Ideally, we replace Flood and grab 2-3 starting quality OL.
WR we recruited 3 or so 4/5* guys a year ago. They can't all be bad? If so, coaching issues.
RB - yep we need at least one. The Florida guy seems great for this. If we don't fix Flood's debacle at OL, this won't matter.
Portal needs for OL after 4+ years. Would you survive in job with that? I wouldn't. Look at the bread flood recruits and huge misses. That's elite? If I give any employee 4+ years to do a job... it's either perfection or fired on the spot. Lee was a one year training guy. Turntine is a many years and hope.
So we get a 260lb IOL that should be a TE for our next great tackle? Time? Well, Flood has had 4 years to get our next OL in place. If he can't be fired for cause and his terrible recruiting.
This is the dumb fook that wasted 3 years developing Stroh and trotted him out as a starter. Does it take 3+years to teach a huge dude - low center of gravity, push the guy in front of you down or at least away. It's not like he had any pulling guard tasks. It's see guy in front move him away.
M. Lee was the unicorn this cycle.
Our best bet with Turntine is shed about 10lbs, teach him to catch, run about 5 routes. Bingo TE solved. He can block too. Even if we bloated him up, he's IOL frame. Could be a great pulling guard I guess.
Ouch, seems like a long hard fall for Beck.
Now on the Flood bullshit.
He had one (his first) good recruiting class. Most if not all the starters will be in the NFL. Since then he has gotten projects and an occasional decent prospect.
He had 4 years to develop his 2nd OL here. We got dogshit. His recruiting is now dumpster fire bad. M. Lee was who we needed at all costs. Great, we got a jumbo TE in Turntine that needs 40-50lbs of good weight. Robertson who needs 2 or more years in body shaping.
Some of you lifters, tell me how easy adding 40-50lbs of good mass is? It's NOT easy and of course a guy has fast feet when he's 2/3rds of what he needs to weigh.
Flood and Akina need to go. The new RB coach seems really solid, great add.
Something is really wrong with William. You don't have a misaligned head, eyes, and eyebrows as a normal human. Maybe as a serial killer or rapist?
Look in the mirror, any of you fat bastards have all those head trauma issues? Maybe his mom was beaten with a bat when pregnant or drugs?
Has our WR D. Moore ever not been hurt? We pick up Mosley - hurt. If our WR coach can't get a few of these 4/5* freshman ready - fire him.
Flood should be replaced for many reasons.
Akina - replace.
The rest, don't care they aren't complete fuck ups like the above.
Thank you, sir. Helps me wrap my brain around this OL problem in a meaningful way. And once again the Flood problem - bad eval. We can do better.
One of the smartest post I've read on here, appreciate it.
