  1. He's apparently taken a turn for the worse and is in very critical condition. Dang .. I spoke with him at length about two months ago and he posted on FB on April 15. Fuck.
  2. Possibly, but I've posted tens of thousands of photos of people from the past and could count on one hand those who were overweight, let alone "fat." Here's a photo of the Fat Man's club of Van Zandt County in 1894. Members had to weigh 200 .lbs as weighed on a cattle scale.
  3. I guess I don't understand the hoopla or the religious fervor which some people have for this topic. I got a really nasty DM from somebody who accused me of being a sellout, an Elon fanboy etc.. For somebody like me it's a simple value proposition. The ROI is well worth the 8 bucks, if only for vastly increased functionality.
  4. The Financial Times did a deep dive into the show, to include scouring .pdf files of the scripts etc... They came up with a pretty good analysis of the Roy's net worth, who owns what, who controls what, the board etc... I had completely forgotten about the Retired Janitors of Idaho! https://www.ft.com/content/a7ce31e0-06f0-4986-9eb9-f4322a40ffc3
  5. Yup. Those driverless cars will be like a subscription service. Think about how much your car is just sitting in your driveway or otherwise not being driven. I'm in my car probably 5% of my waking hours. We could probably get away with 10% as many cars as we have currently.
  6. We are headed to zero marginal cost renewable energy by 2030 or so. Maybe earlier. Solar, wind and --- importantly --- battery storage are about to strand a lot of fossil fuel and ICE assets. Tony Seba and J.B. Straubel were way ahead of everyone on predicting these exponential cost curve declines and the transformational implications. Kathie Wood at ARK invest built her firm around the theory. There will be some disruptive pain but a lof the world's ills will be greatly remediated ---- assuming the AI Overlords allow it. 😁
  7. Solar electricity is now the cheapest form of electricity in history. https://www.carbonbrief.org/solar-is-now-cheapest-electricity-in-history-confirms-iea/?utm_content=buffer192a4&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
  8. I don't think most people in this day and age are going to care about dick pics.
  9. The Isbell Shires documentary blew me away. Also made me feel glad I don't have a drinking problem. 1001 other problems but drinking isn't one.
  10. Willie Nelson two nights ago in New Braunfels. In two weeks he will be 90.
  11. If Kendall keeps playing hardball, don't you just know that Roman and Shiv are going to use his confession about killing the waiter (from last season) against him? They are still holding that card.
  12. I'm calling it now: a repeat of Jan. 2006. Texas and USC in the title game.
  13. Bear Alexander, Anthony Hill, JaTavion Sanders, and Austin Jordan all played on the same team at Denton Ryan. Things that make you go "Hmmm ..."
  14. I didn't see the game but he completed 70% of his passes.
  15. In my fantasy world, he's a bigger, taller, stronger Colt McCoy. I remember when I saw Colt in the basketball championship game in Austin after he'd committed to Texas. It was after football season, obviously, and after an entire basketball season of running up and down the court for Jim Ned and he couldn't have weighed more than 175 .lbs. I thought "there is no way this waif will ever see a snap at Texas." Then I saw his dad, who is a large man, and I thought "well ... who knows?" And then little 'ol three-star Colt McCoy from little 'ol Jim Ned went on to become perhaps the second best QB we've ever had at Texas.
  16. Feinstein has not announced her retirement.
  17. Freddie Dubose told Orangebloods that Brennen Marion was "not very good at recruiting." It seems like the new WR coach, Chris Jackson, is doing a much better job on that front.
  18. I think I'm going to run for Mayor of Houston even though I live in Austin. Facebook tells me that 48,000 of my followers live in Houston. I'll bet I could beat some of those other candidates despite my geographical limitations.
  19. How is this even possible? If you get into a gunfight with police in 2021 you should not be walking around in 2023, let alone walking around and killing people. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/11/nyregion/easter-killings-arrest.html
  20. That's because their goal is to preserve the status quo. Yours is to change it. In order to change it, you will need their support in some way.
  21. Completely ignoring the other side is a sure way to accomplish nothing.
