  1. A few quick thoughts after LA/GS game 1: That game felt more like a NBA finals game than a second round matchup. There's just such a gravity to this series and I though the level of play was outstanding -- just guys making plays all over the place. I figured that the Lakers would take game 1. The turnaround from Sac was quick and emotional, and the Lakers were rested and laying in wait. Davis played 44 minutes. Lebron played 40. I can't see that holding up over the rest of the series. I imagine the Warriors bounce back in game 2. Davis is unsurprisingly a problem for the Warriors. I can't recall off the top of my head them having to deal with another big of his caliber in any of their runs, other than facing Jokic last year on an otherwise completely depleted Nugget team. I thought it was interesting that they made that run to tie the game late by going small and pulling out Looney, especially since I thought Looney had another monster game. I still can't believe they're only paying him $7.5 million/year. I thought the faster pace would favor the Warriors. Wrong. The Lakers seem more than up to the task.
  2. I guess Brooks finally found a bear that did poke back. Couldn't happen to a bigger jackass. I wonder where he ends up. Nobody is going to pay $11M for a no 3 and D wing with a calling card for cheap shots and generally acting like an immature dick. With the way the NBA works, he probably ends up with the Lakers on a cheap deal and gets his shit together to become a true asset on a championship level team. And then signs a big contract that he never again lives up to. @Wulaw Horn I'm just giving you shit about your never ending Harden crush. He is what he is. Hall of fame player. MVP. Scoring champ. Assist champ. Turnover champ. Titty bar champ. Phoenix had zero depth before Chris Paul went out. Now? They are proper fucked. There's only so much Booker and Durant can do. Ayton actually played okay. Murray and Porter had bad nights and they still boat raced the Suns in the fourth quarter. Gotta give Denver's 4Q defense credit, but the Suns were essentially playing 2 on 5. Craig, Lee and Payne going 1-14 isn't going to cut it. That offense is so stagnant and one on one centric, I don't know how you ever even get those role guys into a rhythm. And who could have possibly imagined Chris Paul suffering some sort of random soft tissue leg injury in the playoffs? What are the odds?
  3. The fuck Derek Fisher party is pretty universal among all three fan groups as well. Each one has a special dislike of that dick munch for various reasons. The Spurs with .3. He ghosted the Rockets after getting traded to them because he was such a LA pussy. He also requested to be waived from the Mavericks because he "wanted to spend more time with his family" back in LA and then re-signed days later with OKC. Fuck that guy. First off, we don't really know definitively if John Stockton ever raped a middle school student. Like, it is completely within the realm of possibilities and let's face it, more like a probability. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. However, what we do know for sure is that he was one of the low key dirtiest, cheap shot, kidney punching, nut hugger wearing, stat padding, cocksuckers who ever laced them up. He's also an ignorant vax conspiracy theorist who claimed that thousands of athletes died and hundreds "dropped dead on the field" after getting the covid jab. Complete asshole.
  4. That bomb by kcp was huge. He was super clutch for the Lakers in the bubble championship. Some rotation dudes are just wired like that. You gotta have them to win a ring.
  5. Dude. He lost by like 30 points at home in a game 6 elimination game against a spurs team that didn't have Kawhi Leonard. It was one of the most embarrassing playoff performances in the history of the league. He was an abortion. But we get it with you and him. At this point I think all of us are just impressed you are able to type so well while you fondle his balls with his cock permanently lodged in your mouth.
  6. That was a gut punch of an episode.
  7. Sacramento was a fun team to watch, but I was pulling hard for the W's just so we could have this round 2 matchup. It's going to be great. Just please can both teams get through this series healthy? A few thoughts: Looney was out of his mind against Sacramento, but he's stepping up in class in a major way trying to check Anthony Davis this round. One of the bigger revelations of the Kings series was that GS didn't have to guard Sabonis outside of 8 feet. Looney can't camp out under the basket like that against the Lakers. He's going to have his hands full and they will have to gang rebound to pick up the slack. We are going to get a bunch of Lebron v Draymond. So good. Can Lebron still play at a high level while wearing a cup? Ja, even with a jacked up hand, created some problems in Round for LA 1 but Curry is a much different animal. How do they check him? I don't know if I trust Russell to be that dialed in chasing him around screens. Both these teams have some versatile bench pieces and role players to mix and match for lineups, so there doesn't seem a ton to exploit either way. The key perimeter defenders for the Warriors - Wiggins, Thompson and Payton don't really match the Lakers main offensive threats unless either Thompson or Wiggins see time against Lebron. Just a completely different dynamic than round 1 when they had to chase around Fox and Monk. This series is going to be much different than either teams first round match up. In contrast to the Kings running it up and down the court, the Lakers are going to want to slow it down and turn this into a slog. Memphis (outside of Bane) isn't much of a three point threat. The Warriors are going to spread them out like no other. This series could very well come down to who can dictate pace. Bold prediction: I'm leaning just slightly towards the Warriors in a long (and hopefully riveting) series. They have homecourt and seem to be galvanized and hitting their stride at just the right time. And they just don't fucking lose in the playoffs while seemingly getting every break when it matters most. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see the Lakers take game 1, though. I think the Warriors are due for a let down from Game 7 and LA has had more rest.
  8. Most hated on my team (Spurs): Sidney Green and Richard Jefferson. Honorable mention: Bryn Forbes. Most hated rivals: Karl Malone. And Derek Fisher. And Karl Malone again, because fuck Karl Malone.
  9. Yeah that’s not really how you want to close out a quarter.
  10. Kings should feel good only bring down 5.
  11. This just seems like one of those games where Thompson can’t throw it in the ocean the whole game and then hits the game winner.
  12. I don’t know that the suns have an answer to Denver’s size. Even Gordon and Porter Jr are giving them problems. Jokic can play bully ball whenever he wants and they’re killing them on the offensive glass. Denver has missed a bunch of layups. Trying not to overreact to game 1 first half but I’m not seeing a lot of options on that phoenix bench.
  13. Phoenix is painful to watch. Their entire offense is Durant or Booker going one on one. They aren’t even screening to get them to their spots. They just take turns. Of course those two dudes are so good it might be enough but nobody is going to confuse Monty Williams with running Larry Brown’s motion offense.
  14. Leon truly is one of the great aggies of this generation. His ability to carefully look at those facts and then come up with that conclusion is… well, perfectly aggie. A rare combination of hubris, delusion and ignorance, on top of a massive persecution complex underscored by not knowing when to shut the fuck up. It’s like he was made in a laboratory.
  15. Where your slice is welcome as long as you hook ‘em. Casita.
  16. Regarding Memphis… they need to run it back mostly. That’s still a very young team that lost two key front court players plus Kennard for the playoffs. And Ja is clearly bothered with the hand. That wasn’t a team close to 100%. The roster needs some tweaking but they can build around Ja, JJJ and Bane. They need some athletic wings. They need to grow the fuck up. They need to ditch Brooks.
  17. Russell out of his mind tonight.
  18. If I'm actually starting a franchise from scratch? Like an expansion team? I'm not calling any of the top guys in the league. Your team is going to suck donkey dick for several years regardless of who the coach is. You need someone who is secure enough to take a bunch of L's while developing young talent and building a culture. Look back at every expansion team or rebuilding job. The coach almost never survives to see it on the other side. Pop is perfect for the Spurs right now because he has no pressure to win to save his job. Who the best coach in the league right now is, is a different question. The usual suspects... Spoelstra, Kerr, Carlisle. I like Ty Lue as a tactician in a 7 game series, but I do think he can grate on people. There are also some people who don't like the way he did David Blatt in Cleveland. I know Bud is getting killed right now and he's probably going to get shitcanned, but his overall record is stellar. People forget that he won 60 games in Atlanta and took them to the ECF before they tore down the roster. In his first year in Milwaukee, they went from 44 wins to 60 (which might say more about Jason Kidd than Bud). He leaves a lot to be desired during the playoffs (to be kind), but there aren't many guys with a better regular season resume. Everybody loves Nick Nurse, but the only person to get more mileage out of the Raptors championship than Nurse is Kawhi Leonard. Nurse is living off that shit. The Raptors are 116-120 in the last three seasons with two playoff game wins with a roster that should be better than that. I do think he is a pretty good coach, though. I think Mike Malone in Denver is pretty good. Steve Clifford in Charlotte has always gotten the most out of his talent. I think Darvin Ham has done a really nice job year 1 in LA. Thibs is a weird dude but he's certainly got the Knicks playing at a high level. I like Willie Green in New Orleans. He gets that team to play hard, no matter what. I think Doc Rivers is the most overrated coach in the league. Not a fan of Monty Williams, at all. Nor Chris Finch. Nor Jason Kidd. Mike Brown had a magical year in Sacramento, but I can't forget how bad he was in Cleveland. I'd like to see what Quin Snyder does in Atlanta with more time. He's got a really good offensive mind, but holy shit is he twitchy and weird.
  19. This is always my favorite post draft analysis, and every team does it. Each one says they had the guy higher on their board than where he got drafted. Like they just bought a brand new Lambo at half price or something. Just once, I'd like a team to say, "You know, we had about 5 dudes on our board graded higher than him. But we just said fuck it, we were desperate for help because we couldn't stop the run to save our lives. So we rolled the dice on a freak athlete with pedestrian production and hope the hell it pans out."
  20. I’m all in on the Saban slide into mediocrity but in his defense, they lost two games on the road on last second walk off plays (a fg at Tenn and a 2 pointer in ot at LSU) last season. They were an eyelash away from the playoff and I would have given them a good chance against the field with Young. And even in most of his championship seasons they took an L somewhere along the way. Only twice undefeated. I see the cracks too, but how far off his historical norm is he in reality? I will gleefully piss on his corpse when he’s done, and hope we do our part to usher that in this September, but the dude is a witch to me until proven otherwise.
  21. The other thing is that when Giannis got hurt game 1, they lost all margin for error in the series. You can have a meltdown game like last night and still win a series, but they lost all cushion after losing games 1 and 3 without him. They couldn’t afford another off night. I still contend this is a different series if he plays every game. It’s going to look worse if the Knicks roll the Heat. And fucking Miami was left for dead after losing to Atlanta in the play in and then coming back from 11 down in the fourth quarter to beat the Bulls just to make the playoffs. You think that Miami would have ever tanked like Dallas did the last games of the season? Different organization with a much different mindset.
  22. The knives are out for Bud this morning. Rightly so. But my gosh… complete failure to adjust and throw different looks at Butler, going back to game 4. He was killing Holliday over and over and he just kept going with it. Matthews had some good possessions against him and then he went away from it. But beyond that, Giannis really screwed the pooch last night. You can’t go 10-23 from the ft line and what the hall was he thinking with that foul on Struss 25 feet from the basket? You just can’t do that. He almost threw the ball into the stands off the jump ball when they still had timeouts. There’s plenty of blame to go around. A complete choke from arguably the games best player at the worst time.
  23. The bucks are the dumbest championship team I’ve ever seen. Just so unclutch in every possible way. No composure whatsoever. Epic, epic choke. I guess Bud can take those two timeouts with him on vacation.
