  1. “I think there’s some truth and good strategy to being the last one to offer.” Yes, every hot chick at the bar agrees with this statement..the very last fat, drunken slob to come stumbling up slurring his best canned pickup line, whom all of the lesser gals have already turned down mind you, is surely the prime catch of the evening. Excellent strategy. That’s obviously why there are no tales on this website about settling for a panhandle six at closing time after a big road win and waking up in a ramshackle mobile home..I’m quite certain I’ve never read anything like that.
  2. Every time I see them talking shit about how arch & fam are going to cannibalize the locker room, I think about the fact that the greatest goddamn player to ever grace a college football field *wanted* to redshirt at Texas, because he knew he needed it, there was another #1 overall recruit in the room, and another five star (mock) ahead of him as well. The fact that they completely fucked up their qb room by playing off one against the other until both decided to leave is their fucking problem. I know times have changed, but it is telling that Texas has the unique experience of 1) having multiple top overall recruits in the same room 2) having the most hyped recruit, hailing from a famous family, on campus & dealing with the politics 3) having enough going for it outside of football to keep those elite qbs from mutually deciding that neither of them really want to be there anymore. Yes, the major/simms drama was a pain. Yes, we did see a connor exodus that left us with case & ash. Yes, we have stocked Utah’s current qb depth chart. But, none of that shit resulted in us watching one guy win the heisman elsewhere and both guys become nfl starters. That is a distinctly aggie-level self own.
  3. Was it Kash’s first collegiate pa where he yelled at the pitcher to “throw a fucking strike” after being hit? That’s ironically what I’ll remember him for.
  4. Thanks. I remembered seeing the announcement he posted about the move, but I hadn’t kept up with who filled his position.
  5. I have a question: how substantial was losing drew bishop from the ops staff a while back? It seemed to me like he was a real asset to the players and the program as a whole. I think I remember several players mentioning him specifically when asked about why they chose Texas. Surely program prestige and tradition were top of mind, but it was interesting to see him acknowledged. I know we heard a lot of similar things said about bryan carrington in football, which was sort of overblown. Was that the case with bishop as well? I’m hopeful that pierce and this remade staff can eventually put together another class like ‘19, but I do think dp prioritized player development over recruiting ability in his search. I’m cool with that.
  6. Right? I know the story is unconfirmed, but I never understood it either. High academic achiever lists uh, tcu, and ou top five? The family has doubts about Texas, but tcu and ou have brand new staffs and Wilcox is on shakier ground than sark? I wondered if master p was his advisor. I say go to uh, play for a good coach in holgo, study hospitality management, and maybe tilman hooks you up with a sweet gig handing out comps to the geriatrics at the golden nugget..make all-conference and that could turn into managing a bubba gump’s somewhere. #coognetwork #set4life
  7. It’s bizarre to me that fans of a school with their track record would ever question whether something will ever translate to “winning on the field” for somebody else..as if they know what that looks like. That is literally the question they have been asking themselves for nearly a century—when is our super awesome school spirit and timeworn tradition ever going to translate to winning on the field?? I mean, I’ve honestly been under the assumption that they originated the idea that a marching band could win halftime in order to compensate for their football team’s shitty results on the field, but maybe I’ve missed something in their illustrious history since 1939.
  8. I’ve been saving my first post for a moment like this. So here goes (not into the whole brevity thing): Fuck the glum bullshit. I’m not coming down from this high. Talent discrepancies have been there for a very long time. Getting this team to this series is not a miracle. That would be a disservice to the hard work everybody in the program has invested. But it is one hell of an achievement, and I am damn proud to celebrate it no matter the outcome. I don’t give a shit if they get donkey punched again tomorrow night. This has been a fantastic run by a bunch of really gritty girls who could have mailed it in after Clearwater (like most of us wrote them off), but they had more pride than that, pulled together, and took this program to a place it has never been before. This is the team Cat always deserved. So many different players have stepped up when the team needed it. Those sooner girls can hit eleventy billion homeruns and their fat fucking fathers can fill the screen for an hour talking about xbox, wrestling, and god knows what else, but the most compelling story of this wcws will be the resilience and fight that these young women, an afterthought to everyone outside of that locker room, have put on display defeating all-American after all-American and higher seed after higher seed..all the way to the fucking championship series. Yeah, ou’s fucking better, but anybody thinking some other team would fare any better against them is deluded. Three teams have beaten them, and the first to do it is standing there at the end. They’ve earned the right to have the final crack against the reigning champs. So, lace ‘em up tomorrow, girls. You’ve proven that you can overcome tremendously long odds. Control what you can control. Clean up the errors. Work the count. Pitch to Alo..and Jennings. Let it all hang out. If they beat you, they beat you. Nothing they do will change the way I feel about this team or what it has achieved. You’ve given hope to the 48 unseeded teams that make the tournament each year that they can do the same. That hope did not exist previously. To me, that’s as important a contribution to the sport as any juggernaut ou squad could ever give. Nothing’s bringing me down, ladies. You are fucking legends. Play it out. Fuck ou. Hook ‘em.
