Not all 5 stars are created equal. DK Moore would be getting significant PT on our team right now. Dallas Wilson as well. Wingo played a lot last year.
Wingo has always been more big, straight line athlete than refined WR. He has never played physically relative to his size either.
Lockett is the only actual 5* we signed and he isn’t really a separation receiver, so he needs to add weight to not get bullied so much off the line or at the top of his routes.
It’s never as bad as it seems and never as good as it seems. The worst part about yesterday is that it was a confirmation of many of the concerns that have been showing up to varying extents in each game this year.
Sark gives a shit, and he has a lot of options to throw at the issue. The downside is that there are no gimmes left to workshop different options and we wasted many valuable snaps on Stroh and Hutson. That Cojoe injury hurts because he probably could have played LG better than that shit we’re seeing.
Flood needs to simplify the scheme and get these guys playing aggressively. Find a blocking scheme Neto can execute consistently and let his aggression be the example for the others to follow.
Arch is a playmaker/athlete QB playing in a strict timing offense. He’s probably not ready to execute the gimmes of this offense so everything looks even harder as a result.
He looked mentally fragile again yesterday as well. He should have been lighting up his guys for playing substandard all game.
Sark has significantly overrated the quality of his team on both sides of the ball.
Too much pride/money on the line for things not to get better fast.
Quinn would have taken 10 sacks yesterday, but maybe Sark would have been more willing to run more quick game with him back there. Why we didn't do more to get the ball out fast is beyond me
Even last year’s highly talented, highly experienced, Joe Moore finalist squad wasn’t all that good at moving people.
He’s gotta go this offseason for this offense to unlock its potential
The OL and DL are the reason why this season is lost.
At least they tried to address the DL, the OL is fucking abysmal.
It’s only gonna get worse from here.
My post assumes Stroh will play, because, you know, the coaches keep putting him out there. They also believe in OL continuity. He’s not great, but I’m choosing to be optimistic on his potential.
I don’t think Neto is the solution, but as stated I would like to see others get more of an opportunity.
I’m not a Stroh advocate, he’s generally bad with limited athletic upside. He’s very strong though and it shows up sometimes.
I was a Neto believer, but he couldn’t beat out Hayden Conner and lost his inside track position to Connor Stroh. No longer a Neto believer.
I’d like to see someone else get into the rotation, but I understand why that won’t happen, so I’m hoping for the best with the red headed kid with the gracefulness of a boulder.
Neto has gotten multiple opportunities and has failed to impress every time. Hoping for him to get more PT is hoping his recruiting ranking would lead to better performance.
I’m wondering why guys like Jaydon Chatman haven’t done more to push for PT.
No idea, but he’s probably already ahead of schedule as far as his development.
Cole Hutson is more than ready to be written off in my mind though. Plenty of time and game reps and he’s still average at best.
Stroh could learn how to use his athletic limitations to be effective as he gets more game reps.
Stroh is a first year starter with a real ability to move people. He also has horrible feet. Let’s give him a chance to grow before writing him completely off.
I’m more of a chicken/seafood guy unless it’s prime or some level of Wagyu beef, but it seems like people will stop buying as much as the prices continue to climb and it’ll eventually level itself out.
The NWS fly seems like a bigger issue.
I really dont give a shit if we blow them out right away.
I'd rather see Arch make throws confidently, then hopefully eventually make those confident throws accurately with consistency.
Don't worry about making big mistakes that potentially cost us the game. They won't.
This is a win even with 2 pick sixes. Relearn your muscle memory and visualize the throws you wanna make where you wanna make them.
Simmons has been getting pressure, just not sacks. The coverage isn’t good enough to make QBs hold on to the ball longer. Jaylon Guilbeau can’t cover and can’t really recover, so he plays off so he doesn’t get beat over the top.
Not just him, but lots of space underneath where we just try to rally and tackle.
Sark is not a sunshine pumper. He's a fiery guy. He's not going to publicly throw his QB under the bus in a harsh way.
On top of that, Arch has shown himself to be mentally weak so far. The swagger he showed in spots last year has completely gone away and it is infecting the rest of the team.
No one on the team plays with confidence because he looks fucking lost half of the time.
I'm not even seeing players try to fire him up, almost like he's untouchable.
Don’t double down on your stupidity because you got called out on it.
Worthy had three different WR coaches in his time on campus. Whittington had 4 I think. Giving credit to Marion for their development when he was half engaged for much of his time here is convenient logic at best.
AD Mitchell had his most productive season by far under Jackson.
Golden too.
People are developing, it’s a tough offense to learn with all the options and needing to read the defense to be effective.
Ohio State only scored 14 because that’s all they needed to considering the Texas O wasn’t showing a need for riskier offense. Why air it out and risk the defense making a game-changing play?
SJSU turned the ball over like 4 times and moved the ball fairly consistently outside of that. They missed a FG too, iirc.
I’m going off my eyes right now since we’re only two weeks in and we haven’t really played a strong QB yet. I thought we were really good last year and we still got lit up by better QBs. This defense (to my eye) looks solidly beneath last year’s so far.
Hopefully I’m wrong, I would love to be.
Also, Arch doesn’t throw too many deep balls but he’s locked in on them for too long.
