Crazy that Drogba never won PL Player of the Season or the Football Writers Association Football of the Year awards. I wouldn't have guessed that. Anyway, Salah has two and will get another this year along with his Balon d'Or.
  2. Considering Naby gets hurt kicking a blade of grass, I'll be shocked if he's actually able to play soon after getting clobbered studs-up by Pogba. Hope so but hard to imagine he's not out for a few weeks.

Ole not Gunnar work here any more.
  4. Firmino makes his 300th appearance for the club tonight.
  5. Not a bad win going into the City. Sucks that Trent is likely out but Milner's been more than serviceable at RB and he's got a point to prove against City. (That they should've kept him around to be auxiliary right back.)
  6. So apparently Trent didn't travel with the squad? Really hope he's fit for City on Sunday.
  7. Didn't get to see the match but looked like every Brentford goal was basically a goal mouth scramble and that we missed a few sitters. You'd expect Mo to score on that one chance to make it 4-2 and then it's basically curtains. Hate to see us drop points, especially with the chance to go three clear, but the Bees look like a plucky team that could finish comfortably mid-table.
  8. Came in and instantly calmed the game down, allowing Curtis to play a more creative role. Impressive as hell for a kid making his debut. Of the three academy kids, he looked the most ready for the first-team.
  9. No harm no foul. 😉 Good for him to get mistakes out while we're playing in the League Cup. He's looked good going forward, too.
  10. Really looking forward to seeing Conor Bradley. Gordon is the most exciting prospect in our system but Bradley's not far behind, and he could easily play his way into Trent's backup. Because as of now that's...James Milner.

Difference between last year and this year is that Liverpool isn't relying on their fifth choice CB to get regular minutes, Chelsea has a manager who's not a dumbass (oh and Lukaku), and Man U bought Ronaldo and Varane. There's actual competition for City this year and I don't think they've gotten better. Add an early season injury crisis and they could easily fall out of the title race before it even gets going. I'm guessing Chelsea smokes them this weekend without even getting out of second gear.

Technically Chelsea is ahead because they've score more away goals in our head-to-head meeting(s). But if it were absolutely deadlocked like this at the end of the season, it looks like it'd be a one-match playoff at a neutral ground:
  13. Can't help but think that Lijnders is auditioning for the job after Klopp's contract runs out. Definitely not a manager-in-waiting situation but it seems like he'll get every opportunity to prove he can be the successor. I absolutely do not want to think about the day that Klopp calls it a day.
  14. Hard to imagine Harvey back this season but from the sounds of it it's about a six-month rehab. Just hope he can fully recover, both physically and mentally and that it doesn't have a long-term impact on his career.

I really wish they still did the whip-around show. Goal Rush or something? Tomorrow's 9am slot would be perfect for it. Still wild that we as Americans can get every single match while in England they can't even watch Rapenoldo's return to Old Trafford.
  16. When I first heard about it I thought maybe it had some merit – if Wenger had a big part in it, I would assume it was well thought-out and had some good and valid ideas. Then I read the plan. It fuckin sucks and I have no idea why Wenger would back it, except that I guess he's a complete sell out?
  17. So, I've smoked a good 50+ briskets and I've always been pleased with the results, but after watching the Aaron Franklin MasterClass on brisket I realized what a fucking n00b I am. He spends like 3 minutes talking about how he applies the s&p. The trimming chapter is 34 minutes. Jfc, that dude is a goddamn artist. I'd never trimmed a brisket prior to this cook and I erred on the side of less trimming, mostly out of fear of losing too much meat. I'll probably trim more next time around. Anyway, I recently got a pellet smoker (I know, I hate me too but I ain't got time for an offset these days) and the motherfucker starts losing temperature like 4 hours into the cook. Probably spent about 45 minutes going from 255 to 115 and to get the thing going again and up to temperature was a pain in the ass. Gonna wrap in butcher paper and probably use the ol' Texas Crutch because at least that's reliable. Though it's not as much fun drinking beers in the kitchen as it is outside. These are for a Labor Day/40th bday/Rosh Hashanah party on Monday and I'm planning on just keeping them in the fridge after they've dropped to room temperature, reheating on the smoker while wrapped. Sound like the right course of action? Don't think I want to freeze them for just a couple of days, right?
  18. Would hate to see her fuck off to PSG on a free.
  19. Harvey could play on the right side of our front three.
  20. Four goals, five assists from right back on a team that finished 7th and conceded 40 goals in 2019-20. Season before that he had four goals and seven assists.
  21. When was the last time we made a deadline day signing? Andy Carroll?
  22. Spurs sign right back Emerson Royal for £26M https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/aug/30/tottenham-reach-agreement-with-barcelona-to-sign-emerson-royal-for-30m I figured Doherty would get a shot under Nuno so this strikes me as a strange move.
  23. We are not a team that panic buys but I wonder if Firmino's injury is going to change things at all. We were already light an attacker and now we'll be missing Bobby for at least a few matches.
