  1. Meanwhile, Origi is set to "stay and fight for his place at Anfield".
  2. As far as travel for the away supporters goes, Paris is a dream while Napoli is a nightmare. Belgrade is probably a fun city to visit but seems like it could get a little murdery for LFC fans.
  3. Porto won the Primeira last year and are in pot 2, so it must have to do with the Russian league's coefficient, which also makes no sense since the Russian league is pretty trash.
  4. Agreed re: money spent, but I give slightly more than zero fucks about the ownership group. Would prefer owners who aren't utter pieces of shit.
  5. Part of the loan deal includes a clause in which Karius must play against us if we meet in Champions League. *rim shot*
  6. The problem isn't number, it's reliability. Lovren is a knucklehead who not only is injured quite a bit but then lies about his injuries. Matip can't stay fit for more than a couple of matches. Gomez is young, pretty inexperienced, and also has a pretty gnarly injury history. Nat Phillips has looked great. In pre-season. None of those guys can be relied on. Klavan wasn't great but he was serviceable and almost always fit. I think we can probably get away with a combination of the rest of those guys but it's not terribly reassuring.
  7. Also the not throwing it right to the opponent's striker in the club's biggest game in a decade.
  8. I said it was silly to judge a player based on less than 70 minutes of play, after you said you were "unimpressed" by those 68 minutes. And your suggestion that people are "obsessed" with a player insinuates some sort of preoccupation with him. He's a good player who would bring goals to any team who signed him. I haven't seen people losing their shit over him one way or the other.
  9. I can't believe it's already time to start projecting starting XI's...
  10. He played 68 minutes total across 7 matches. It's pretty dumb to judge him based on being a game-killing sub. Not saying he doesn't have serious question marks, particularly about the long-term health of his knee, but judging him based on less than 70 minutes of game action in which he came in as France was just trying to wind down the clock is silly. He scored 18 in 30 league matches last year, with 8 assists. He's got an insane free kick, won more fouls than anyone in the league, and is the captain of Lyon at age 24. He's a quality player.
  11. Plus there's the whole he'll be managed by Uncle Woy thing.
  12. Mitrovic was such a bust the first time around but he was also like 21. I'm not convinced he'll be any good, and I'm even less convinced about Schurrle, but Mawson is a pretty damn good defender.
  13. Lets all hope and pray Mou stays at ManU forever.
  14. I'd be pretty surprised if he got sold. He's not going to want to go to a mid/lower table club and no top club is going to pay us a big enough fee to make it worth our while to sell him. Maybe he can give us 25 games this year. He and Shaqiri looked fantastic together yesterday.
  15. Probably will be. For some reason I thought Clyne had been on World Cup duty. I haven't watched much of our preseason and read that he'd left the squad for his son's birth, so coupled with Camacho's rather incredible performances, I honestly think he might be our best option from the get-go.
  16. So Camacho is our starting right back against West Ham then? I would have absolutely no issue with that. Kid can play.
  17. I'd heard Camacho's name before this preseason but never saw him play. Love this from his bio on the official site: "Rafael Camacho is a talented player who can play anywhere across the forward line." So yeah, he's a right back. Really nice cross on him.
  18. So Danny Ings looking like he's off to Palace. We've become their bizarro Southampton.
  19. It's serious business.
  20. I'm not sure we're big Wes Edens fans here. Bucks ownership has done some good things but mostly they've just gotten lucky in backing their way into arguably the biggest sweetheart deal in NBA history, and managed to just barely not fuck it up beyond recognition. The Jason Kidd hire was atrocious and their hiring of Jon Horst as GM was highly questionable. They've not drafted very well (Giannis was pre-Edens & co) and they've made some absolutely terrible signings. I think Villa could do worse than an owner like Edens, who at least seems emotionally invested, but the jury is most definitely still out.
