  1. Worth noting that away goals is not a tiebreaker in the promotion playoffs.
  2. Arsenal is playing Huddersfield at Anfield? Boy am I confused.
  3. Trent Alexander-Arnold is a very talented center mid who's been slotted in at RB more or less out of necessity. He's done extremely well there but he's 19 years old, so he's more or less been asked to stay at home and be a defend-first fullback, at least against good attacking teams. His delivery is a bit inconsistent but when he's on, he's got one of the better crosses on our team. Given the high stakes of the match and the quality of the opposition, I wouldn't expect him to get forward a ton, unless that's specifically something Klopp will try to exploit. I would think that with Salah ahead of him on the right flank, that will be enough of a threat to give Marcelo nightmares and that TAA will fill in the space but not do much in the overlap. Andrew Robertson, on the other side, is a very, very good attacking left back, however. Generally if one of our fullbacks gets in the attacking third, it's him. He's the Scottish Roberto Carlos.(Kidding. Sort of.)
  4. Absolutely. He's a perfect fit for Klopp's system and would be a fantastic buy. A 3-in-2 scorer (135 min/goal) who averages 1.5 tackles per game (for comparison Firmino averages 1.8, which led the league for FWD's) and would immediately be the best FK taker in our squad. Obligatory YouTube comp for those who haven't seen him:
  5. Your argument was that players we can't have quality backups because they won't be guaranteed playing time. That's simply not true.
  6. We were complaining about depth in December. And I don't buy the argument that we can't have extremely talented backups on our bench because they're going to demand playing time. City bought Sané in the summer of 2016 and he played just a hair over 50% of City's minutes last season. This year, he was the 2nd-best winger in the league. Then they bought Bernardo Silva this year, who's hardly gotten a sniff of the pitch. Liverpool doesn't have the infinite resources of City but you don't shy away from stockpiling talent if you can get them to come. Sure, they want to play, but I would hope that the ego on most of these guys would dictate that they'll take their chances beating out whoever's ahead of them. Oxlade-Chamberlain wasn't guaranteed anything prior to his signing for us and he fought his way onto the pitch. With so the number of fixtures a club like Liverpool will play over the course of the season, plus potential injuries, etc., talented players will get playing time.
  7. Liverpool doesn't put release clauses in their contracts – that's been the sticking point re: Emre Can signing a new deal. He wants one, LFC does not. As for Salah, not sure what more you want out of the guy. He scored 29 and assisted 17 over two years in Serie A prior to coming to Liverpool and setting the league on fire. He's 25 and has 41 goals this season. No way in hell he has to "prove" anything before getting a bumper deal – he already has.
  8. Per Paul Joyce, Ox's injury is not believed to be a cruciate tear. They're optimistic he'll be back by the start of pre-season training in July.
  9. My summer wish list: Jorginho Ryan Sessegnon Christian Pulisic Richarlison
  10. Doubt either of these happen, but 1.) play Clyne at RB and Trent in midfield or 2.) recall Grujic. Is the latter even a possibility? Obviously our CL midfield is Hendo/Milner/Gini but for Stoke I wouldn't mind getting creative. Stoke is absolute shit – Grujic could do a job there. Pretty devastating for Ox. Put together easily his best season as a professional and will almost certainly miss out on the World Cup. (I haven't seen any update but that looked like an ACL.)
  11. That's really a fantastic goal, with a couple of great passes, some amazing dribbling from Mané, and a calm, composed finish from arguably the most in-form attacker in the world right now. I love that there were like three opportunities for Mané or Salah to go down but neither did. Sterling would've flopped like the bitch that he is.
  12. Attacking midfielder? Mo Salah. #6? Emre Can.
  13. Who argued that the sole reason we've kept up our PPG is because we sold Coutinho? Pretty big strawman. Coutinho was one of the first names on the team sheet, no doubt. He's a world class player whose individual attacking talent is better than most of our players. He's not a player Klopp would buy on the open market and his absence has barely affected us. (We just beat City twice in the span of six days, 5-1 on aggregate.)
  14. Phil wasn't a square peg in a round hole or anything, but I'm not sure he's a player Klopp would ever go out and buy. I don't think Klopp was bothered by his departure, in part because he didn't want to be here but also because, while a very good player, he hasn't exactly been missed.
  15. Was reminded of this game today – the 4-3 season opener @ Arsenal in 2016. Sadio Mané scores about as nice a goal as you're ever going to see. Ox chips in with a gem himself...
  16. Also has video highlights of goals and often times audio commentary of matches. And if for any reason you want the scores of, say, the Cambodian 2nd division, they got you covered. If a ball is being kicked somewhere on the planet, those guys have the score and can tell you who got the assist.
  17. Sturridge has played 78 minutes since moving to West Brom.
  18. Sturridge for his cheerleading? Or to console Adam Lallana in the physio room?
  19. I'm not necessarily advocating for his sale, but I don't blame him if he wants to move on. He's a workmanlike player who had some success/promise before moving to Liverpool, but for a variety of reasons it hasn't worked out and at this point it's probably best for his career to move. He's still relatively young and can actually see the field more than token substitute appearances. He's good to have around for situations like this weekend, when we need a willing runner to spell our starters, but given his injury history and limited upside, I just don't see him staying at Liverpool when he could be a first-team player elsewhere. I think the club is happy to have him but I think they'd entertain offers this summer.
  20. Brewster is out. He might be back in training but not fit enough to play a part. That confused the hell out of me. Then I remembered that Daniel Sturridge used to be a Liverpool player. Ings with a hat trick in a 3-0 win. We'll sell him this summer and he'll be remembered Gary Mac-style.
  21. I'll second the fullbacks for co-MOTM. I kept waiting for TAA to get toasted and he kept coming through like Gianluca Zambrotta. Incredible performance from a 19-year old central midfielder playing at right back. Andy Robertson is making a case for best left back in the league. Ox is such a damn pro. Fantastic finish and clearly a player who shows up in the big games. He's going to be needed next week with Hendo and Can out. The midfield picks itself, with Milner, Ox, and Gini. VVD and Lovren both played great, mistake-free, aggressive defending. The second half was as impressive as the first, albeit in a completely different way. I love this fucking team.
  22. Matip on a free was still too much. Guy's injury record is Agger-esque.
