To experience the Tour you have to be on a big climb. I remember going up Aubisque with a group of Spanish and Italian dudes and French fans yelling assassin at you the whole way up. Plus the riders are moving slower so you can actually see them.
I did a Trek travel final week of tour. Great experience. Best pro is they book a restaurant and bring a bus with your clothes to a route up the mountain. So you ride part of the course then have a place to eat and change before the riders come through. Shoot me a message for more details. Thompson seems legit.
I don’t mean it to hold parents responsible. They are not. But moving forward I don’t see how anyone could send their kids there. Plus in the best of situation it is teenage camp counselors helping some of these kids.
Yea crazy to say he rode cowardly given other efforts over the tour. I think he marked the wrong guy and you live and you learn. He needed to ride just below his limit on the front and maybe they reach the top with a smaller gap but Wout and Yates would have been a tough combo to catch anyways.
Great stage. Not sure how the tour can beat that this year. Carapaz has questionable tactics at times but at the end of the day the race leader in Del Toro has to ride on the front at this pace to win the race and not expect help. It's what the champions have to do on a big stage and he will learn that.
I did the same thing but at University of New Mexico. Got to meet Dave Bliss before he told the Baylor players to hide the body. I knew he was psycho since he didn't take the key to his car in his pocket. He put it on the front driver tire after locking it.
