  1. Nah, Google Tony Boyer. I shot along side him as well as Kenny Jarrett, and many others during, and for a few years after the golden era of benchrest. When Ferris Pindale and Dr Lou Palmisano introduced the 6ppc, everything changed. In those years Kelby’s and Supershoot was the place the best shooters on the planet gathered. Forget anything you have ever seen in the movies or TV. It was open to anyone who had the brass (no pun intended) to sit alongside the best in the world. They used a revolving backer so the judges could count the holes to verify the shooter shot the proper amount of shots. Aggregates in the 0.250 for a three shot group were not only common, but expected. The smallest I remember was around 0.190. This was done at 200 yards with usually 300 to 400 competitors. I would like to point out my success…….I never won shit, but! I never came in last!
  2. You are spot on. I only use Jewell triggers on my bench guns. The factory trigger on this thing breaks just as good. Zero creep, and breaks like a glass rod. The only difference is the Jewell can be adjusted much lighter.
  3. When my old man retired he got bored. He was friends with Ronnie Strength (the police chief at the time) in Augusta Georgia, and took a job just to stay busy. From what I understand they all carried 686’s until the semiautomatics gained acceptance. The best part is he worked the National as an extra allowing me to play the course after the tournament as he didn’t play golf.
  4. I’ll stop posting after this one. Here is a picture of the “textbooks” we were given for Ansel Adams workshop. Though Alan Ross did most of the hands on stuff during the week. Adams was like an old football coach. He would get so technical at times I didn’t have a fucking clue what he was talking about. I was in awe of the man. He did tell me to lose the 4x5 and get a Hasselblad. He told me lugging that heavy thing around was unnecessary.
  5. This picture is close to 50 years old. I was in a workshop learning the Zone system. I found it was easier said than done to expose for the shadows and burn in the highlights hitting all 11 zones. Adams really was a badass to master that craft.
  6. One of my favorite places. El Cap’ I love the place.
  7. An F2 with the Servo, and the 250 film back. Thing weighs about 9 lbs when loaded with film and batteries. You can damn near do the same thing with a cellphone these days.
  8. I thought some of you might find this interesting. It is an original Galen Rowell. He printed this for me about three months before he passed. It looks far better in person. But, he was a special guy for my generation.
  9. Every time I hear wheelgun I think of Joe Pesci in Lethal Weapon when he is ragging on Danny Glover about old timers.
  10. One of my other stainless pieces, a S&W 686. Though this one was my father’s service revolver I inherited after he passed. What makes it somewhat unique is it came out of Smith & Wesson’s performance center back in the day. I still have the paperwork, which is an interesting read. The way they “tuned” revolvers is a far cry from what one can do at home with aftermarket upgrades on modern semi automatic pistols.
  11. I have a pretty nice firearm collection, but very few stainless pieces. For some fucked up reason I really liked this Gold Cup. I have two others in blue, but I like this one the best?
  12. A newer hi power, made in Belgium, but assembled in Portugal. But, I’m a big fan of the platform. I absolutely love how it sets up in your hand.
  13. Page needs more pictures. Here is an Sig P210. Very old technology, but an extremely accurate pistol. You don’t see a lot of these in people’s collections.
  14. You are creative. That looks wonderful!
  15. You’re an entertaining poster, like how you think you’re the smartest mother fucker in the room…..you’re not.
  16. All I know is Deion has put together a team in less than one year that played toe to toe with Riley. I’m impressed.
  17. Long time Texas golf coach Harvey Penick’s, little red book address’ this very issue. Establish a simple trigger, same as swinging a baseball bat. I am a right handed golfer. Once I address the ball and I am in proper position. I apply a slight amount of pressure on the ball of my left foot to initiate the swing. Don’t think of anything else. If you want to think go to the driving range.
  18. They ran it on GameDay this morning. I don’t have a link.
  19. I don’t think it has as much to do with race as it does about talking shit. There is a reason coaches at all levels refrain from calling out an opponent. We all hate coach speak, but it’s safe. Deion doesn’t follow that script. Now, as a fan I fucking love it, because deep inside we would all love to do it. But we know the consequences are getting your ass kicked and having to eat that shit.
  20. I did not know they changed ownership? But it does explain some of the odd nuances I felt while there.
  21. Again, terrible scan, I’m trying to get better equipment to resolve this issue. But, great subject matter. This is the lake that formed after Mt St Helen’s popped. We hiked in and the only gear I brought was a Nikon F2 and a couple of lenses. The place has a strange vibe to it. Almost like you should only speak in hushed tones.
  22. Out the door at $4600, I can’t remember what the tax rate is. I’m going to guess at least %10. Yeah, it’s too much, but I grew up in Texas and have never owned a custom boot. Being as I am in the sunset of my life, I pulled out the money and went all in. The response from the guy who fitted them (also a native Texan) when I told him what I wanted was “Those things are going to look sick!” But, he did warn me that there are some special care instructions for diamondback. That the skin isn’t as durable as most other species.
