  1. I've found that just being nice to people prevents/solves almost every problem. The wife has a high EQ and isn't into drama. She's like a fucking wizard she'll know their dog's birthday after a quick convo. When we travel we go on cheap DIRECT flights. Last time we flew Spirit, we had dinner every night at Michelin stared restaurants. Pay for what matters. Air travel is about getting somewhere cool, not trying to look cool getting there.
  2. The majesty of air travel is over. Welcome to the commodity market. Every flight is a crap shoot. Direct RT from Ft Lauderdale to LAX... Less than $200 ... It's sooooo cheap. Sure it's flying bus service, but it's one fucking fast bus. Noise canceling headphones, downloaded show on Ipad, and low expectations are key. Also the last Spirit flight I was on was 100% better than the last Jet Blue flight.

  4. https://www.suppliroma.it/ Probably easy with the kids Pizza & Suppli... I don't recall if they had sit down areas, but grab a suppli if you're in Trastevere
  5. Don't be a hater. Plenty of good Genz bands. You just haven't seen them because you're old. Random example... This band cranks in concert. I went to see a few different groups, but these guys went HARD. Great show, tons of talent in the crowd too. Also I felt old AF... as the kids say. Didn't play any Skynard, but did play a cover of the The Damned.
  6. Scotty didn't know
  7. back to back hottest winters on record... I'm not looking forward to hurricane season
  8. You know why the British drink warm beer?
  9. The trick is getting the power down. There are severely diminishing returns to power grains in a Miata. The car is aerodynamically unstable nearing 130mph and not enough rubber/weight for traction north of 275bhp. Weight distribution gets thrown off, weight increases... etc. Don't get me wrong, they are cool cars but It's just a matter of how wild you want to get. It's like the old joke, what's the difference between a 700hp and a 1000hp Supra? Nothing
  10. I have owned several. Great cars, a ton of fun. But if you are insecure about your manhood, you'll need something else to compensate. My last one had a full FM kit, custom clipped ball bearing turbo, standalone engine management, and methanol injection. Drive it normally, and it was a mild grocery getter, get heavy with the right foot and it was completely transformed. IIRC mine put out ~295bhp (on pump gas @92f) in a 2500lbs car. I sold it because it was either going to kill me or get me arrested. I sold it to a guy from SC that planned on putting in a V8. I told him to drive it a bit first and see if he needed more. I heard from him a few months later, he had scrapped the idea of the V8.
  11. The beautiful people, The beautiful people
  12. I saw a video of a sommelier the breaking down wine cost, storage, and economics for small restaurants. One comment that has stayed with me is "You can't sell a $10k bottle of wine if you don't have one on the menu" I love the Clash, but relicing isn't my thing. I'm also slavishly compelled by the concept of marginal return.
  13. "Humans or modern humans are the most common and widespread species of primate..." - Wikipedia "Humans are primates. Physical and genetic similarities show that the modern human species, Homo sapiens, has a very close relationship to another group of primate species, the apes." https://humanorigins.si.edu/education/introduction-human-evolution
  14. If I were her, I'd have that hanging my house! Right over the fireplace.
  15. Gina Rinehart demands National Gallery of Australia remove her portrait The mining billionaire Gina Rinehart has demanded the National Gallery of Australia remove her portrait from an exhibition by the award-winning artist Vincent Namatjira.

  17. I never order octopus, one of the smartest animals on the planet. This stance does not go over well when visiting places like Greece. Don't eat primates, whales, dolphins, dogs, cats, horses, etc for the same reason. They might be delicious, but I'm not doing it.
  18. Lord Byron had a friar's skull turned in to a cup... and had a poem engraved on it. Start not—nor deem my spirit fled: In me behold the only skull From which, unlike a living head, Whatever flows is never dull. I lived, I loved, I quaff'd, like thee: I died: let earth my bones resign; Fill up—thou canst not injure me; The worm hath fouler lips than thine. Better to hold the sparkling grape, Than nurse the earth-worm's slimy brood; And circle in the goblet's shape The drink of Gods, than reptiles' food. Where once my wit, perchance, hath shone, In aid of others' let me shine; And when, alas! our brains are gone, What nobler substitute than wine? Quaff while thou canst—another race, When thou and thine like me are sped, May rescue thee from earth's embrace, And rhyme and revel with the dead. Why not? since through life's little day Our heads such sad effects produce; Redeem'd from worms and wasting clay, This chance is theirs, to be of use. Byron gave Medwin the following account of this cup: – “The gardener in digging discovered a skull that had probably belonged to some jolly friar or monk of the abbey, about the time it was dis-monasteried. Observing it to be of giant size, and in a perfect state of preservation, a strange fancy seized me of having it set and mounted as a drinking cup. I accordingly sent it to town, and it returned with a very high polish, and of a mottled colour like tortoiseshell.” – Medwin’s ‘Conversations’, 1824, p. 87.
