  1. Of course if we run off enough labor, the smaller cattle herd won't do anything for cattle prices because you'll still have capacity constraints while beef prices take off.
  2. In an ominous poultry related moment for me at work, my turkey raising client was instructing an employee to cut into the 6 dead birds they had while on the phone with me
  3. I got 10 bucks that Directional Gaza beats Aggy first time they play
  4. Sens beat some ass too.
  5. Especially the True North Brave and Free Part.
  6. Just got a message from a college buddy that works for USAID that he and all of his coworkers are locked out of their work stuff and they’ve got no communication from anyone about what is going on
  7. Not that I didn’t already think they were useless assholes but calling Lutheran Family Services and Lutheran Refugee Services criminals today really made me hate these fucking assholes
  8. Could be the right specialist just loves the Ozarks and you have to go there because they don’t travel. I’m sure people from all over get flown to Rochester MN too
  9. Seeing these kinds of threads are always weird for me as I have no memories of my dad. He was diagnosed with a rare cancer after he collapsed about a month after I was born when he was sorting hogs with my Grandpa and Uncle. Didn’t have a lot of treatment options for it in 1982, and he passed away when I was 6 months old. There are only a couple pictures of us together where he isn’t visibly ill. My family was great about telling stories about him, and I have some great pictures but it’s always very hollow. I also very much resembled him and reminded folks of him which was always very tough for me when people would tell me that. A few years ago I ran into our families longtime neighbor to the south who was slipping into dementia and I had a whole conversation with him about farming and basketball where he thought I was my dad the whole time which was a very trippy experience.
  10. The owner of DEI did die in a high speed crash too
  11. I think it should be noted for ag at least, "Mexican" includes all of Central America.
  12. Probably going to fuck up beef prices because we import feeder cattle from both to fill the gap with the smaller current herd and your Texas feedlots are more reliant on those cattle to keep the yards filled and need them to be cheaper because your feed is more expensive than it is up in the heart of the corn belt. We can expand the herd but biology makes it take a lot longer than pigs and chickens.
  13. I live next to an air guard/occasional air force base, and while you get used to it, they will run stuff of varying stripes much lower overhead than I'd like. Much less cross commercial traffic though which probably helps.
  14. There had to be some passengers that glanced over and saw it coming without the ability to do anything.
  15. Apparently some the victims were family friends of my wife’s college roommates from rural Kansas who were on their way to visit their daughter in college
  16. As a guy who doesn't know anything about ATC, where do we find the people for those jobs, do they come out of the military or elsewhere, because I can't imagine wanting the job where you can kill a bunch of people if you fuck up badly enough. Seeing prices go up and down in ag commodities is more than enough for me.
  17. https://www.klkntv.com/former-unl-professor-85-remembered-for-his-contribution-to-the-mcrib/ The father of the McRib has ended his limited time run on Earth.
  18. Wasn’t the November 2001 crash into a New York neighborhood pretty large? ETA that was 265 people
  19. As a non-pilot who knows nothing about flying, how hard is it to track other aircraft from the cockpit visually? (My Grandmas brother who was a retired Navy pilot was killed in a mid-air collision by Caddo Mills in December 95, and it’s my understanding that a student and instructor just flew right into him)
  20. At least it sounds like they are pulling some survivors out of the Potomac
  21. Pilots get disoriented during a pursuit of some sort?
  22. Reminds me of a story my mom had from growing up. The city cousins would come out to the farm, and Uncle Norman had a Super 8 camera that he liked to film with. In the background of a days footage was cousin Ritchie chasing a chicken all day. The chicken eventually stroked out, and Grandma cooked it for the whole family. On additional sidenote, JBS is starting to back up cattle deliveries, so we will see if it's labor or bad margins doing it.
  23. Wait until meat packing capacity degrades we get tight on grilling meat into spring/summer
  24. I’d say stall it on a busy rail crossing but the engineers don’t deserve that fireworks show
