  1. Exactly. AI can only draw from LLM's and what people have already put into the world. And writing dialogue is where modern writers score the worst, IMO. So if so few people can do it well, how can we expect AI to do it well? Now for, as the kids say, all the "mid" content -- AI can probably do a fine enough job equivalent to people. Prestige stuff will suffer. Which brings up this interesting 10 second summary I read about who will suffer: Also super interesting to read roughly 98% vote to strike, biggest voting bloc in history:
  2. He's friends with Joe Rogan, hang the man. Would rather be on Epstein's personal calendar than be known as a friend of Joe "Fear Factor host turned mega millionaire podcaster who things seem to be going well despite ardent wishes and thread titles" Rogan. Joe Rogan? That guy is pure evil.
  3. Another data point for KD being on the Mount Rushmore: Two basketball players have signed a lifetime deal with sneaker giant Nike: Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Now we can add a third—Phoenix Suns superstar and two-time NBA champ Kevin Durant has joined the club, according to NBA.com.
  4. Some analysts wonder whether these cuts will challengeTesla’s competition enough that they’ll be forced to slow pricey EV pivots, or worse yet, go out of business. “We are trying to resist,” Luca de Meo, CEO of French carmaker Renault, recently said in regard to Tesla’s cuts.
  5. Turnabout is fair play. Which is why one should always shop around and vet the best school for your child based on the family value system you have installed and by which you run your house.
  6. On both sides for sure. The rage that a milquetoast post in cloak room can produce is still, 5 screen names later, very surprising.
  7. It feels like fighting against AI is like fighting against the internet in the 90's. It's a losing battle and the die has been cast and it's a toothpaste and tube situation at this point. Should find a way to glom on to it.
  8. Which makes sense as most mid 40-year olds have gray hair. Me? When I was 40 I was grayer than Gandalf.
  9. I saw a photo of Jeremy Strong at the Met Gala yesterday-- super jarring to see he is like 100% gray-haired. They must dye his hair daily for the show.
  10. Derka is right, though. *ducks*
  11. This is information dump and overload and social media inundation you speak of (and I wholeheartedly agree with you) is just going to get worse with AI. Which is why one of the AI gurus came out this week saying the risk is not AI getting sentient and skynet and all that crap-- the risk is AI driving us all insane.
  12. I listened to a lot of early influential music (like the Chief Keef above) and precursors to what would become Drill music and found myself listening to other early, influential songs that would influence a whole sound movement.
  13. That's nothing, when she was a kid....she danced with the dead at the pyramids.
  14. We've looked at these guys but never pulled the trigger. Got a friend who did, but he's in Colorado. https://www.synlawn.com/golf-and-putting-greens/
  15. Also saw Jack Ma has resurfaced yesterday so he isn't dead. From China's richest man to a college professor nobody. 180 degree swing.
  16. I posted this on March 24th, which seemed to signal that the union was open to AI, what has changed from their request? From March 24th: I am obviously not in the industry or tied to it in any way outside of just being morbidly curious about it from a finance and business perspective as it's such an odd duck compared to most businesses. My outside-in feel from this first pass and reading the tweet that @henrygandorf posted is that it would seem like the union is in a worse negotiating position than they were the last time they struck. I'd love to hear from someone on the inside who has a better feel for the game. That said, I've read that since both studios/hollywood AND writers were mutilated during covid and shelter in place, the appetite for a bloody negotiation and prolonged strike isn't really there for either party, as they need to make money while the getting is good again.
  17. As an avowed phoenix suns hater (I can’t stand booker the most), I am gruntled. Nothing would warm this old heart more than Denver sweeping.
  18. Yea it really is. And they are just average looking people. As the whole cast is. Not one classically good-looking/attractive person in the bunch, I don't think. Maybe Willow still? But I mean more in the core nucleus of the show, the main characters. There are EA's and random people here there that aren't main characters... Greg, Tom, Roman, Kendall, Shiv, all the old guard, just basic, average, normal looking folks. That's not a bad thing, by the way. Anyways, I thought of this tweet watching Tom and Shiv and really seeing his acne scars and her weird facial structure:
  19. I liked it, I thought it was interesting watching all the little baby vipers start to grow up a little bit. Especially Roman who followed his outburst last week with some impulsive firings. Seeing Karl and Geri drop the corporate façade was interesting too.
  20. 100% this. This season should be a critical darling. It's amazing.
  21. "My worst fear is becoming spoiled brats and losing perspective..." an interview from 1999. I daresay the worst fear came true.
