  1. Career numbers for guess who... .344 /.482(!)/.634 A ways to go but getting there....that arcing bomb Tucker hit the other net must have cracked a smile on Ted's frozen head. He was a big fan of the slight uppercut in your swing. . .
  2. SC has a unique history among the colonies. It is effectively a colony of a colony -- Barbados. It got kinda overpopulated so the spillover wound up in SC and they organized along the lines they'd been working on in the Caribbean, which included the most savage of the Slave Codes. Down in Barbados, the Irish trash servants and slaves were mixing and finding common cause against the Brits and almost drove them off the island, so that was where the idea of setting all White trash above all Blacks was born. Divide & conquer. It was readily adopted in Virginia where the same union of White riff-raff and Black freedmen almost ended London's rule over that colony too. (For decades, Blacks and Whites were held to contracts of servitude; the introduction of slavery -- which is not a contract -- came later than most realize today.) But yeah, SC is strange for that reason -- it's a British colony filtered through the Caribbean planted on the North American mainland. I kinda think that's why it has that weird flag.
  3. SC trying to get all eccentric like Virginia...."Beauchamp" = "Beacham," "Taliaferro" = Toliver. There are some others I've forgotten that are even more ridiculous.
  4. yeah, and it's pretty much how they pronounce '"murder." It's more like mor-daugh but very close. How are we all just letting little Buster skate? Like I said it's always either a mistress or an insurance policy or both. Buster stood to have his whole crazy ass family whacked and $10m. Kidding...maybe? If his brother was that psycho maybe he is an even bigger one.
  5. I think Herman's biggest problem was / is he's a giant dick. I think he is temperamentally unfit to be a head coach and will never succeed anywhere else. At UH he lucked into a non-P5 superstar QB and a generational DL talent (whose recruitment was a fluke) and still underachieved. I can't think of a big-time head coach who was more immature and just...a dick. It seems nobody had anything good to say about him, and who knows what went on behind the scenes? So I think that was two coaches in a row that were...maybe coordinators. At best in Herman's case. Time will tell, but when and if he gets another HC job I bet he bombs out again unless he radically alters his personality. Orgeron did it enough to win an NC so anything's possible I guess. Setting aside the elephant in the room, temperament is not Sark's problem. Unless he slips up in that department assholery and arrogance won't be his downfall.
  6. He made that play look easy Really impressed with how he runs to spots and gets running starts on his throws. He is like a fundamentals clinic and better yet he has serious athleticism too. Too often you get one or the other.
  7. Oh and it looks like I lost a $10k work assignment....FML.
  8. Holy shit that thing fucked my world up....I live on the San Bernard River down by Sweeny and the town of Brazoria....it was as bad or worse than Ike. Big ass oak limb fell on my house and it sounded like the final fucking thunder. Wave on wave of howling winds...We were trapped on our FM road in the morning 'til the locals busted out the chainsaws and cleared out two or three big trees. Power went out before midnight night before last and might still be out; I adjourned to a crappy motel in West Columbia where the WiFi and cable were out until around noon today, but at least there was AC and lights and I could charge my phone. Scariest storm I've been through.
  9. Goldman Sachs seeks out high-achieving lower middle class kids....Works for them.
  10. looks like a prize pig she cheated to grow and knew she would win
  11. Daddy won't you take me back to Muehlenberg County, down by the Green River, where Paradise lays? I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in askin' Mr Peabody's coal train has hauled it away....
  12. Little known fact: they settled for buying Moon Pie, Inc
  13. Firing Mack was a kindness to that asshole. He should have been forced to stay here for the last ten years.
  14. I don't know why any coach would be against running QBs unless they couldn't pass a lick, and that is not the case with Thompson....So why then would Sark still favor Card over Thompson. Is he worried, Thompson, as the running QB, might face greater chance at injury? Well, then what's the worry? You've got your real QB1 on the sidelines.
  15. "He scrambles too much and was late for a meeting...."
  16. This is not true. It goes in cycles. My great-grandfather was an admin at UT beginning in the 1890 and continuing sporadically for decades after that. When the football-first crowd would come in, usually on the back of an amenable governor, he would be purged along with his buddies, and then he'd get his job back when it would shift back towards academics. It's a devil's bargain, i think. How much are you willing to blemish the school's reputation for football success? Once Charlie kicked off half the team, there were few disciplinary problems. I can't recall Herman having many, either. But back in our last glory day, we were among the Fulmer Cup contenders, and maybe would have ranked higher if we didn't have Joe Jamail pulling strings in the background....So at that time i think the football side was on top.
  17. I am quarter GT by heritage and have spent plenty of time in Beaumont. The nicer parts of Beaumont are not that different from Northshore, and there are parts of the school's zone that are as bad as PA, though usually Mexican and not Black. Does Cloverleaf feed in to North Shore? If so, I rest my case.
  18. Jimbo Macked them. Left them with a smoldering crater of an offensive line -- it's the one thing that can fuck a program for a decade or more. It destroyed Willie Taggart's rep and now it's the turn of Mike Norvell.
  19. It's also like the Golden Triangle or those old steel mill / coal mining schools in PA. You want to play in the NFL, or would you rather work in or near the refineries. It is not suburban in the same way some north Dallas school is.
  20. Dude, Z-Ro went to Willowridge, and he is universally accepted as the King of the Ghetto...Just because they are brick ranch houses don't mean it isn't ghetto. Do you even Compton, bro? Madison was salty back in the '80s, back when Bill McCartney was sweeping through the Southside and sucking up talent for Colorado. I was playing at Strake back then and we would laugh about how we would crush them in baseball but quaked at the thought of playing them in football.
  21. That's kinda what Okie State did with Gundy....at some point we should do this or should have done it already.
