Easy answer is hitting if they want to compete this year. But it feels like the bats are the bats at this point.
If they do hit, it's 5 hits, 3 solo homers and we lose 4-3 because no one outside of Smith maybe is a "get on base" type of player. They'll have a breakout game once every three weeks, then nothing.
Corey getting a hit again would be nice. If he gets going along with Semien and Burger maybe that gets everyone believing. But now Wyatt is off and Jung isn't great and Smith is struggling some, etc.
All year they've been bad with RISP. Arms are getting stretched further and further. Martin is out, probably for good this time (again). Garcia has showed more cracks in the armor lately. The bats have to wake up by eating Wheaties, gettin' 'roids or voodoo or whatever.
It's not putting together strings of hits, or sometimes even 1 or 2 hits total, being anti-clutch, etc.
They're not "out" of it but they feel out of it, like last year. I think they should sell, and should have last year also.
Either way, thank Bochy for squeaking in in 2023, doing incredible bullpen management and getting that flag.
Re-boot for 2026.
