  1. I’m taking the Akana tidbit from @FreeHorn’s post above. Maybe I’m misreading it and he did, in fact, mean to refer to Duane Akina.
  2. So it sounds like our most like transfers are: DL Swanson Tapp Mitchell LB Burrell is already gone Akana DB Austin Jordan Are we worried about anyone else? Gilbeau? RB Red WR Niblett TE Juan Davis (sorry Imma) OL Kirkland Cojoe Connor Robertson Do any of these cause real pain? I know we don't want to lose these guys, but do any of them meaningfully impact our odds of winning a title?
  3. Right, but what I'm saying is I think it had zero impact whatsoever. I doubt it was even a thought in his mind. Of course neither of us can know something like that. I'm just thinking out loud.
  4. I would be pretty surprised if Sydir Mitchell's mother had any impact on Bo's decision to leave for LSU.
  5. I know you've mentioned in the past that your connection to the program is (was) through Davis and the assistant DL coaches. Are any of those guys still around?
  6. Sark was talking up Bryant recently, and it sounds like Baker likes him too. He's also one of the biggest bodies on the DL who isn't a lollygagger. Seems like the staff will work to retain him.
  7. Talking to USC fans on reddit, their opinion is that he is a good player but runs hot and cold. He shows up on Saturday more often than not, however. Dumb penalties are the chief gripe.
  8. He's wrong so consistently that it's actually helpful. Just take whatever @Helobious says and do the opposite.
  9. Love his comments about "getting the consistency" out of Alfred Collins. It would be huge if that dude can reach his potential.
  10. Fair enough, if the landscape has changed since 2022 then I'm operating on outdated assumptions. I appreciate the correction.
  11. Thanks for the heads up about Baker, gents. I'm happy to wrong on this, but by my lights Baker is the one head-to-head we've won with Oregon. I'm not saying Oregon is 100% winning every time, but that Nike money makes pulling kids from California a pain in the ass. Other than Baker, the kids we've pulled from California weren't really on Oregon's big board. I'm specifically thinking of LTG (battle with ASU), Moore (Louisville), Shannon (not really a battle with anyone), and Maalik (same). There may be others. Of course, it's possible my ass is still chapped from losing kids like Ashton Porter and the other DL they've pulled from east Texas. We almost lost Kelvin Banks to those fuckers. My point is that Baker is one guy. Is that a trend? I'm sure some of y'all know better than me, but going against Nike seems like an uphill battle. Not just in terms of how much NIL they can offer, but the level of organization and professionalism Oregon's association with Nike lends to its NIL program. But hey, maybe Marcus Harris is worth the effort. And maybe I'm just being a big sloppy pussy about Nike/Oregon.
  12. Only seven 5-stars? Going head-to-head with Oregon for a California blue-chip seems like a potential waste of time. Nike money almost always wins out.
  13. They’re impossible to unsee once someone points them out.
  14. I somehow missed any discussion of Blue being some sort of team cancer, guilty as charged. This is the kind of shit that pisses me off. I said it seemed like Blue had an attitude problem and even called out that it was how things seemed. I did not even assert that it was reality, just appearance. You rocked up into the conversation and said that Blue never had an attitude problem and that this board was shitting on him for stupid reasons. You got called out for being wrong, demanded that other people prove you were wrong, then when that happened you acted like your ignorance was more valuable than other people's knowledge. Now you're pulling this motte-and-bailey bullshit where you pretend people were attacking the kid and calling him cancer. No one said that, and in fact we soft pedaled it as much as possible. You're not really a bad poster, but this is a terrible series of posts and you should probably shut the fuck up for a bit.
  15. lol, this shit is not new: https://www.espn.com/college-football/news/story?id=3562451 https://www.kltv.com/story/21902449/texas-wr-arrested-for-dwi/ https://www.khou.com/article/sports/longhorn-football-player-arrested-on-dwi-charge/285-342615529 https://www.chron.com/sports/college-football/article/ut-linebacker-kindle-facing-dwi-charge-in-austin-1638464.php https://www.on3.com/teams/texas-longhorns/news/report-vondrell-mcgee-arrested-on-dwi-charge/
  16. I don't mind people arguing about the positives and negatives about the RB room on here. It's the fucking football board and people are talking about football. Color me shocked. Even the straight up bad takes getting posted are also getting corrected, and there's value in reading the corrections. So why are we complaining about people talking about football? Because it should go in a different thread? It's better than all the other tangents that go completely off base. I don't fucking care how much nurses get paid or about Surly's thoughts on the best mexican place south of the river. All of that being said, I'm not 100% sunshine on Baxter and Blue. Both RB showed their upside and can be expected to improve, but y'all act like improvement is guaranteed. Blue seemed (emphasis on seemed) to have a lot of attitude problems coming into the program. Do we know he's gotten over them? Success can trick guys into thinking their work is done, and Blue seems like a sucker in that regard. I'm more optimistic about Baxter improving - freshman can improvement the most from year-to-year and he was banged up for most of the season anyway. His contact shyness may have been the result injury. If Choice can coach him to run lower and protect himself better, he should have a better year. But the dude definitely ran soft. I've watched his highlights and he crumples upon contact. That needs to get better. All of that being said, I'm not panicking about the RB room at all. My concerns about Baxter and Blue only exist because Sark has raised the standard. We now have championship aspirations. We're not just trying to beat OU and avoid embarrassment. I think both Baxter and Blue are good RBs, but the question is whether they'll be great, not merely good. Hard to be upset about the standards being higher. Plus they're not the only RBs in the room - Wisner and Red are both a step back from them, but both have looked good at times. Serviceable in a pinch. Wisner may be an improvement over Robinson as a gadget guy. And the two early enrollees, Clark and Gibson, are apparently studs who already won over the 9.95 crowd. Clark's legs look like fucking tree trunks. On top of all that, we have probably the best RB coach in the nation in Tashard Choice. Every RB whose played under him has said that he's not only a great recruiter but a great coach. I know that RB is the position that probably needs "coaching" the least, but he definitely seems to get the most out of his players. Ultimately, I'm just happy that these are the conversations we're having. We're not wondering who's going to start at RB because we have no one who's worth a damn, we're wondering who will start because there are so many good options. That's a great problem to have, and whether you agree with @Codaxx's pessimism or @Red Five's optimism, I welcome these kinds of debates because the alternative is our collective nightmare of the last decade-plus. Now feel free to argue about mexican food because I was dumb enough to mention it and of course we have to.
