  1. I certainly understand his desire to compete after training for 4 years or so for that moment. But if he knew he had COVID, didn't tell anyone, and then had close contact with multiple persons (both before and after the race) thereby potentially exposing them, that's pretty shitty.
  2. If he knew he had COVID and still ran, exposed others, etc. -- WTF?
  3. Lyles is milking it. Shameful.

    CowPunk

I am a fan of almost all the bands mentioned above, though some of them I wouldn't really categorize as "cowpunk." But, hey, who am I to limit what someone else thinks? I would add the Beat Farmers to the mix. RIP Country Dick Montana. [csb re: Meat Puppets] Back in the 90's, was dating first wife. She was originally from Phoenix. Her youngest sister was tight with Curt and Cris Kirkwood, and was a big Puppets fan. The band was playing McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, a real cool, small, intimate venue. Younger sis said she would get me and first wife in to meet the band, see the show, etc. "Your name will be on the list at the door." By the time I get off work and get to McCabe's, first wife and younger sis are already inside and upstairs at McCabe's hanging with the band. I tell the guy at the door my name. "Sorry, I don't see it on the list." Furk. Call wife & she says to give them a little time, younger sis is going to talk to the Kirkwoods and straighten everything out. Time passes, but my name still doesn't get put on the list. Make a couple more calls to see what's going on. The last call I make to first wife, I hear in the background what I was later told was one of the Kirkwood brothers going off on their manager -- "dammit, I told you to get [younger sister's] sister's boyfriend in here now!!" Two minutes later my name magically appears on the list. I find out later that there was a limit to the number of people McCabe's would allow the band to put on the list of people who would get comped, so they had to drop someone who was already on the list to get me in. Manager told McCabe's to drop someone who hadn't shown up yet . . . and that just happened to be Jason Priestley of Beverly Hills 90210 fame. I wore it like a badge of honor that I got Jason Priestley knocked off the comp list for a Meat Puppets show. I hope he showed up later and got told to buy a fucking ticket if he wanted to see the band. [/csb]
  5. Yeah, she was definitely very, very lucky to have witnessed that type of Wild Kingdom moment. The two times I've visited YNP, I've seen nary a wolf or bear. Lots of bison, but no bears or wolves. That would have been fascinating to watch.

  7. So correct me if I'm wrong, but Chinese swimmers who had been busted for doping are allowed to compete in the Olympics because a Chinese investigation cleared them of wrongdoing? I'm sure that investigation was completely thorough and unbiased. https://www.espn.com/olympics/story/_/id/40724995/china-hands-us-first-ever-loss-men-4x100m-medley-relay
  8. This hits close to home, literally. San Dimas is 5 minutes away.
  9. Perhaps this belongs on the unpopular opinions thread, but I think the first two Doors albums are really good. The middle period is hit and miss, but LA Woman is a classic. I can understand why some people don't care for the Doors. Morrison could be an insufferable prick, and you either like (or tolerate) his "poetry" or you don't. So I "get" the dislike. But there's a chunk of their catalog that I enjoy. They aren't my favorite band by any stretch of the imagination, but I don't change the channel on 'em, either.
  10. Pizza Port down in San Clemente. Great beers and the pizza is pretty good, too.
  11. Sounds like just a mistake/oversight on the part of the FA. I'll bet that if you had gotten the attention of one of the FA's and said something along the lines of, "Hey, I asked for the can -- can I please get that?" they would have apologized and brought you a can. I've been on SW flights when they didn't roll the cart down the aisle because the flight was too bumpy or particularly short (i.e., under an hour). Did your flight fall into either of those categories? I definitely think SW has regressed over the past 5 years or so. But getting a damn can of soda out of 'em? I've never had an issue with that.
  12. Yep, all you gotta do is ask for the can. Never had an issue with that - on SW or any other airline.
  13. What you saw was nothing unusual. Lots of displaced Southern Californians/Dodgers fans live in the Bay Area and come out of the woodwork when the Dodgers visit. I was up there pre-pandemic on business when the Dodgers came to town, and there were tons of Dodgers fans.
  14. Scoreboard seems a little racist.
  15. After nearly losing to South Fucking Sudan, I expected this team to dropkick Germany to the moon. The fact that they didn't plus the fact that Lebron again had to take over the game to prevent another loss is concerning. Steve Kerr had better get shit figured out ASAP or this team is going to fuck around and gack the gold when the real games start.
  16. Licorice Pizza. Had a few redeeming qualities (the sets were a nostalgia trip for me; Bradley Cooper's performance in a small role), but it was basically a big mess.
  17. Yes, no other team is "actually working out, eating right, and practicing." I also like the fact that the dumbass aggy poster thinks our D-line is "inexperienced." So much stupidity in only 7 lines of text.
  18. "We have yell leaders give hour long speeches the night before to inspire and instill confidence." Lulz Yes, *that's* the critical element that will put aggy over the top in '24!
  19. Kinda reminds me of the ISU o-lineman who was talking before the UT-ISU game last season. How did that turn out?
  20. Master of comedic timing. RIP. A good, long run.
  21. Remember: negative numbers still count as numbers.
  22. There are a ton of bands and artists I like or even love. But the Beatles are godhead. They not only revolutionized popular music, they changed the world.
