  1. I’ll get my head bitten off again by closetojumping, but I’ve had several people who have reason to know tell me that it hasn’t been what most would think but apparently the Tito’s guy has it in better shape going forward. So, drink a lot of Tito’s.
  2. It could be other things too like keeping Perryman on scholarship.
  3. It’s not that hard. One couldn’t academically qualify and the other took an offer to make more money than we were paying for NIL. It was not RT’s fault except that his lack of credentials was at least a talking point when weighing options.
  4. I don’t think it’s anything about RT the person. I have found him to be super personable, upbeat and generally nice to be around. I think the players and their families generally like him and I would never worry about him embarrassing the University (horns down not withstanding). I can just speak for myself and say that the lack of a real coaching search to test just who you might have been able to land before making a purely PR decision to hire a guy that had not had a lot of head coaching success, burned my ass. I have this belief (I’m sure several of you will point out how unrealistic this is) that the University of Texas should not have a head coach who has not demonstrated consistent head coaching success prior to coming. Look at Coach Vic as an example. He is a really good head coach as shown by where he has the program and what he did with Mississippi State prior to coming. It is true that my logic would have excluded Sark for example who, fingers crossed, seems to have what it takes. But, hiring any coach is a crap shoot and playing the probabilities is my preferred way of minimizing risk. RT could very well become an elite coach. He’s not that right now hence my opinion that the University of Texas should have a head coach who is in effect learning on the job what it takes to be consistently successful. It’s a skill set and it’s different from being an assistant. There is a learning curve which I just don’t have the patience for.
  5. This is exactly what I was referring to. If you had actually read above who the specific poster I was talking about you would not have felt compelled to respond. And yes, reading is fundamental.
  6. I think its funny that some have taken offense to being labeled as bullish on RT. Just quit making yourself look stupid
  7. I’ll throw it as far as I want. I don’t give a fuck about Ole Miss. If you are going to be snarky at least do it well.
  8. My metric is to consistently win the games you are supposed to. Be competitive in the ones you are not supposed to win, sneak out maybe a few of those at home, and be in the running for conference championships. If you do that, things pretty much take care of themselves over time. Some years will be better than others but over time, your accomplishments tell you how good a coach you have.
  9. And, despite the fact that I believe it was a huge lost opportunity when RT was hired, it has not dissuaded me from committing not insignificant amounts of my money on trying to help the program succeed.
  10. Mr Reality Check sure seems to think so.
  11. I think I said somewhere earlier in the thread that RT will win enough to hang around until year three. After that, he either gets an extension or moves on. I don’t think he has what it takes to be a difference maker as a coach and program head based on past history. But, he will get a chance to prove otherwise. Last years team was designed to make a deep tournament run. They were mature, good and smart. He certainly could have screwed it up and for the most part he kept things moving. I just think last years team had a couple more tournament games in them that better coaching and some better luck certainly would have helped out with. Beard said as much in my presence (that his first year team was designed to make a run in year 2) and that part of that was the struggles that took place in his first year. Adding Rice was a big part of it as it filled a hole that emerged in year one. Having a healthy Disu was another. RT will have to do some really heavy lifting for next year and will have some tough decisions to make. I don’t think we are going to be able to solely rely on two freshman so he’s going to have to really build around them. I think what he does this off season will determine his future. I certainly don’t begrudge those who are bullish on RT. I’m just a bit mystified by the certainty they express. I’m just not seeing it in his history but that’s why they play the games. Our non conference schedule was terrible this year except for two games and we lost them both. He could have gone a long way in silencing his critics by beating UCF and WVU.
  12. They are just a funnel for money laundering around the world. My bet is they are part of a syndicate and the face of a group that underwrote the bond. There is dirty money somewhere in there. Trump is owned by someone.

I guess that means the most crazy ones.

    Fart a lot.
  15. I at least would consider un-retiring if all that was expected of me was to go take depositions. I absolutely used to love doing it. Really listening like you said, is a developed skill. Being able to detect non verbal body language was also fun.
  16. Fran: “Let’s take a look at this foul. Yeah, that’s a common foul. That should be called a common foul. But it’s Cunningham who has a reputation so it might get upgraded just because it’s Cunningham. This would be a common foul if it was committed by anyone on the Texas roster other than Cunningham”. Foul upgraded by Refs Fran: “Good call”. He lost me when he was cheerleading for RT to get the job last year.

All they care about is making you live the way they want you to and feeding at the grift trough.

Are we all going by our Surly handles when we get to the camps? It’s the logical next step.

I tried a couple of cases against Clardy and I can’t imagine what someone more conservative than him could look like.

They are just putting their finger in the scale to help him delay.
  21. Dr gave me Wellbutrin for several months which totally killed my desire to dip. 30 year habit. I did ease it with nicotine gum. It got to where dips were so unsatisfying that it was easy to put down.
  22. I don’t really agree with all of that. I think a staff does have a responsibility and need, to be able to develop players. Now, if your position is that they are beyond anyone being able to coach them or scheme them to improve or be more effective, then why are they on the team? I’m also not sure I agree with Mitchell being a scrub although I do see how minds could differ on it. He does need some work on his offensive game and strength but his athleticism is off the charts and he generally plays better than average defense. I’m just not sure why he’s not a better shooter. I’m anxious to follow him after he leaves because I just really feel like someone should have been able to develop him more than he is currently showing.
