  1. How about they just pay to relocate us to a place of our choosing with a pocketful of bitcoin in exchange for us never coming back?
  2. Just lay back and enjoy it. —Clayton Williams
  3. What a shitty time to be alive.
  4. This dude is going get some serious mileage with the crowd who doesn’t think D’s are fighting hard enough, depending upon how he handles it. I’m not sure I know what that even is. He’s also taking the risk of getting his nuts kicked somehow. I do find his addition to this is actually making me more interested because my assumption is and was, that they will just cave like always and the new maps pass.
  5. This is true. I toured the one in Beaumont maybe during the early 2000’s after they opened the complex, and at least at that time there was no fence. The “dorms” were big rooms with bunk beds and the inmates were free to roam as they pleased. Not that I want to spend time there but I do remember thinking that if you were there with some cool people it wouldn’t be that bad shooting the shit with them all day. People sitting around reading, playing cards, board games and doing puzzles. Remember some guys throwing frisbees outside. A lot of the people there were taking naps. Hardly any guards around. As I recall, there were rec rooms and a big tv room with cable. I specifically recall them referring to them as residents instead of inmates. They all seemed pretty stocked with snacks, boom boxes with cd’s and books. I kind of remember the person doing the tour saying that they had had some residents leave the premises and walk to a convenience store. Apparently, that was against the rules but they didn’t seem to upset about it I also toured the minimum and medium security facilities. They were more like what most envision as prisons. Ate lunch at the minimum and it was terrible. Visited with an inmate who was a former client of one of the guys I was with. He said something along the lines that he was tired of eating corn tortillas and beans all the time because a large portion of the inmates were Hispanic and the menu was designed to the tastes of the majority of those there. I wanted no part of those places but like I said, I could definitely do time at the camp if I had to.
  6. Agreed. But, last year the OOC schedule caused just that. I suspect the same this year.
  7. I agree with this. $4,000 a seat plus LF donation should get me at least a couple of non conference home games against teams with a pulse. No one really wants to see us beat up on , or in last years case, struggle with the likes of:
  8. Y’all broke the after census cycle. Did you think that the rest of us would just lay back and enjoy it? It’s just one more step down the road of losing what actually made us great. Say what you want but while plenty of responsibility exists to go around, Republicans don’t like democracy and want everyone to live under their repressive, religious, and racist views. It pisses you guys off that the rest of us won’t go along with it. What did you Nazi’s expect would happen when you broke the 10 year redistricting cycle? The rest of us just to accept it? Fuck all of you. Our democratic republic is going down and you guys and your cult leader are the ones who are intent on taking it there. Republicans won’t stop as their goal is to have everyone bow to their repressive will.
  9. I thought “looks down” conveyed the opposite. But, I’ll take it.
  10. I figured I would stay in District 10 because McCaul’s house looks down on my backyard, but it is just insane how it carves up just a sliver of Travis and then goes over and grabs rural East Texas.
  11. So the guy who got elected because prices were too high, immediately and intentionally makes prices even higher and his supporters cheer. And, it’s not a cult?
  12. Tell me about it. Absolutely no one would pick me out of a lineup as the guy who has been heart stented nine times.
  13. I’m here for the cancer I will eventually get from all the chemo and radiation I had 30 years ago to cure the cancer that I had.
  14. Tired of thanking heads not acknowledging that the only thing they are interested in is her saying that Trump had no involvement but Clinton, he was knee deep in it. Isn’t pretty obvious how this plays out?
  15. I took that class (and finished it) in 1988. The prof was smoking hot and it was just me and two other guys in the glass with a bunch of women. I look back at it fondly. Only class I attended a study group in. I remember we read The Bell Jar and Handmade’s Tail.
  16. I think the plaintiffs are sending message to not pardon Maxwell. And if you do, we will cut you. We know more than you about this case. Don’t fuck with us.
  17. Lawyer for victims came on tv and just told congress that Epstein Estate has birthday book and other information in its possession. Easy to subpoena as the lawyers are willing to cooperate.
  18. I will forever regret that I didn’t get in the business of separating these knuckle draggers from their money.
  19. I foresee a time where the University has become so MAGA that I won’t be able to justify ticket costs, LFD donations etc. I’ll still watch on tv but I’ll feel better about where my dollars are going.
  20. I would add don’t sleep on work/intern experience in the area of their major. At least five years ago, that was a big deal. Someone who would know gave me that advice. I had a business acquaintance in their chosen field who was kind enough to let them spend a few weeks working at his business during the summer for no pay. I was at a party and happened to meet the dean of the school they were wanting to admit to. Of course I took the opportunity to mention my kids and they offered to meet with them and have them meet with a professor. It never hurts for people to see how much they want to get in. They even attended a class which also inspired them when it came time to write essays and resumes. My impression was that the colleges will do those meetings for anyone who asks. Even if it played no part in the decision, it did help my kids to focus in on what major they wanted within the college and focus their extra curricular time on meaningful activities. My kids went to a large competitive high school and did ok but definitely not better than top 20%. If you understand how UT does the holistic review you know how you can make up some ground in these other areas. Good luck to all.
  21. That’s why I feel like they don’t plan on surrendering power. Too many people would be prosecuted if they did.
  22. What the fuck would that be?
  23. Ha!, that wasn’t the cause of mine.
  24. As I recall during the last year of Fred Akers tenure, admissions was guaranteed if you were either in the top 25% of your class or made 1100 or better on the SAT. I remember this because in the 11th grade I made exactly 1100 the first time I took the SAT and proceeded to to screw off the rest of high school and managed to drop out of the the top 25% by graduation.
