  1. 2005ish I was at Zion and Bryce about the time of year you're talking about. It was a wet winter so still some snow here and there at Bryce and the sleepy Virgin River that runs through Zion was roaring. Bryce has a place where you walk a zig zag path down, then various hikes along the canyon floor then a zig zag path up. That zig zag area was washed out on one side taking away a lot of the hiking. The overlooks there are great though. Bryce is 8kish elevation so it can be very cold if you're thinking of camping. We camped one night, froze our asses off, stayed in an old mom and pop hotel in Panguitch after that. There's some places just outside the park now. If you could do this in two trips I would say fly to Vegas, rent car, drive over to Zion and Bryce in one trip, and have a quick look at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes state park in between. 2nd trip, drive out. Hit Carlsbad Caverns on the way. Canyon De Chelly. Page, for Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend overlook, then Monument Valley. Now it's time to go to UT. Take the short side trip over to Goosenecks of the San Juan. Then up the Mokee Dugway to Natural Bridges National Monument. You can hike down and walk under these huge rock arches/bridges, hell you can get up on top of at least one of them if you're willing to scramble up a little. Then base out of Moab for a few days. Arches NP there has some great, easyish hikes. Canyonlands some easy drive around and look spots. Around Moab you can drive a few miles along the roads that follow the Colorado on either side and see pictographs and dinosaur footprints. Dead Horse Point State Park is usually good at sunset. Capitol Reef NP, sorry can't help you, when I went through there they had most of it closed for road repair. Like someone above said, HWY 12 is one of the great drives in the world, especially the Devils Backbone part of it. Yeah you wind up at Bryce but you did that already on another trip. So just turn south, and see the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and come on home.
  2. There's a "Texas edition" Dan Wesson. They are several hundred less than the same pistol, non Texas Edition. As long as you're not gonna sell it out of state it's a helluva deal. Also if you happen to come across a CZ 1911 A1, they were made by Dan Wesson. (CZ owns Dan Wesson)
  3. I personally think when you get the God brisket perfection it's as good a bite as you can put in your mouth. I've had that at Snow's, Truth, and Corkscrew. I have a friend in Spain, his friends mom used to make a paella in a pan that was 3 foot in diameter. All kinds of sea food, some rabbit, etc. etc. incredible. So much umami. Total meal, there used to be this place in Vegas, Rosemary's, was off strip, in a strip mall, but great, usually was the best rated place in town. I had several outstanding meals there, and the tasting menu was always great. The 2008 recession got them, last I saw the chef was in Seattle teaching at CIA I think. From the more famous spots, Dinner By Heston about 6 years ago was great. About the same time Astrid y Gaston in Lima was moving to a new location. They did a tasting menu, 20 courses for 20 years at the old spot. It took forever, but it was like chef porn. Let downs Amass in Copenhagen. Former Noma chefs opened their own place, back when Noma was on top of the world. Underbelly in Houston. Some things were excellent, some mediocre.
  4. KD leaves, Cousins leaves, they resign Thompson. So back to a few years ago, minus a Center. Curry, Thompson, Green, Iggy and a spare. Livingston and spares. That team might not make the conference finals next year. They should let go of Thompson and blow it up after this season.
  5. I for one am OK with this. The Warriors can't even get up for Xmas against Lebron. KD needs to GTFO of there after this season. Nothing left to prove or achieve there.
  6. I know you're saying music only but is one of your music sources cable tv digital channels? I had this same thing happen long ago when I switched from satellite to cable. There was some 60 cycle hum introduced by the cable system, that my subwoofer would woof. The answer was some little coaxial plug adapter. "Dayton Audio VIT-1 Isolation Transformer"
  7. Draymond would have found a way to kick Plumlee in the balls.
  8. Larue is still running their triggers on sale for $87 thru Xmas. Great trigger for the money. I think they are back ordered a few weeks.
  9. Even more bs. I let the other browsers go and 30 after they went through and had tickets available. The browser that said they were sold out was the one that I was signed in on with my ticketmaster account. Wife started doing all this 10 minutes before me and hers were the last to log in. I guess I am a surly poor because I just couldn't pay $700 for floor, $1600 for pit, $377 for decent lower level, or even $200(fees and all) for crap lower level.
  10. Fuck this bullshit. Wife wanted to go with another couple, so I got 3 browsers open, she has 2, all logged in to waiting room for the AMEX/Fan club presale today. Tickets go on sale at 10am, and it instantly says there are 2000 people ahead of us. 15 minutes later one of my browsers finally starts counting down from 2000, only to get to zero and tell me they are all sold out. 25 after and the other browsers all still say 2000 people ahead. Why not just say sold out.

  12. Goddamit. Medically induced shart. I've got a colonoscopy tomorrow, been drinking that shit that makes you shit. Already two extended trips to the toilet, waited a little too long on this one. One drop made it on my underwear when i stood up from the couch.
  13. It's not a big deal yet he still hasn't fixed it. <dr. evil riiiight.gif>
  14. In the future, soak that screw with some Liquid Wrench, or PB Blaster. Repeat. More advice, don't go cheap on the baltic birch plywood, buy the real thing. I built 16 bookshelves. I planned them for what I could cut out of a 4x8 sheet. Looked at Lowes and Home Depot, tons of voids in their better plywood. I priced real baltic birch, nope nope nope, couldn't pay that much. Craigslist to the rescue. Some local chain of lumber yards had Chinese baltic birch, cheaper than the big boxes. So I wound up buying a bunch of 3/4 for the frames, 1/2 for the shelves and uprights, and 1/4 for the backs. Start cutting and find that the Chinese stuff has the thinnest veneer possible and the plys were glued with some red colored glue. I wound up leaving it bare instead of staining because of that, every stain or poly I tested really brought out the red. So again, buy the real thing.
  15. Any flashbacks need to be limited to Vinessa Shaw's tittays.
  16. Thanks to Thujone I knew that Aggy was saying "Furk"
  17. Why not just do this yourself? What are they investing your money in to make the money for the options? Ask and you will probably run into the baffle them with bullshit approach. Reality is they are investing your money in something that yields 4% and giving you 3% and to get that 4% in a 3% market they are taking on some risk. Totally safe until it isn't, type of risk. DIY it. Buy some CD's or short term bonds, at a handful of banks or brokers, to spread the blow up risk around. Then take that profit and buy calls yourself, or cough, Tesla puts, cough. Upside, you have the money, not some faceless corporation where you didn't read the fine print and your friend the salesman didn't either, and even if you and a team of lawyers did read it, you might still miss something because it's written by a bigger team of lawyers specifically to make you miss stuff.
  18. Gonna need to know what year Latour they're serving to know if it's worth it or not.

    Colonoscopy

I have one scheduled for November. Last one 5 years ago went fine, I woke up, started asking the doctor questions, he said I can tell you but you won't remember. No doc, i'm totally fine, I will remember. So he answers my questions. I remember none of that, that's just what the wife told me. What I remember is waking up again and asking the wife, when is the doctor going to come in, and her busting out laughing. I think I had the prophonol or whatever it is that killed Prince and Michael Jackson. I was my dads designated driver for his a couple of years ago. He got some better stuff because he woke up very coherent, good to go.
