  1. This doesn't make any sense to me. Can our coaching staff not reasonably approximate a guys size when watching film? Was he CGIed in Wyoming games this year?
  2. I think you're spot on that Cignetti has been the best at IDing talent, developing talent and in game coaching. So in that sense, he's probably getting something of a discount by avoiding some of the bidding wars with blue bloods and potentially some sort of QB discount given he's been so unbelievable with development at that position (although I'd expect that to be pretty marginal). To @Codaxx point, he's also not negotiating from the starting salary of five stars for retention. I'd guess guys like Ponds, the LBs and DL from 2024 were not cheap to retain. I guess my overall point is that they're signing the type of portal players you'd expect to compete for championships, so the logical conclusion is they have about as much money as anyone.
  3. I don't know why people think that Indiana is getting a discount on players. That's a massive university with a huge donor base. I'm obviously not privy to their contracts, but my assumption is they're spending about as much as anyone. Other top programs were after Mendoza and some others that they landed last cycle.
  4. RB1 at Texas should be a $1M back and also someone other than Tre Wisner. There are dozens of backs in the nation who could replicate what Tre Wisner did and many who could do it better. Not crazy for Wisner to ask for that to be RB1 and even more reasonable for Texas to say no thanks, you're not going to be RB1.
  5. Yeah great point, just make the money unlimited and get Jeremiah Smith and Cam Coleman or we’re not all in! Let’s get Sam Leavitt in to back up Arch too. In any case, if this is the all in year, we probably don’t want to rely on a 155 lb true freshman. We were missing a burner with agility and quick twitch. That’s just an archetype we don’t have outside of Bishop.
  6. Our existing WR room is adequate and I don’t think we need to go after a Cam Coleman type given we have finite resources. The problem is our best guys have overlapping skill sets. What we need is a Sategna/Craver type that will be wide the fuck open down the field if their speed isn’t respected. I’m sure those guys weren’t cheap but they also weren’t marquee players in last year’s portal.
  7. You should be compensated for having to skim six whole pages on a football message board in December and only receiving two pieces of news. Really sorry this happened to you.
  8. I remember being impressed by this guy. Seems like we'll have plenty of options at LB, which is nice.
  9. I'd take Alan Jagson over DeAndre Moore, which makes him the third best high school WR recruit of the Steve Sarkisian era.
  10. Oh no, DeAndre Moore was so CLASSY and he was the FIRST GUY AT PRACTICE!! Easily replaceable player.
  11. Obviously want to keep all these guys, that number better be 1 rather than 2. We can lose Zina and maybe Filsaime, but the others would be pretty big losses.
  12. Tyanthony Smith + Brady Sarkisian. Forget about a transfer.
  13. I haven't seen any real outrage about what he said (more outrage that he apologized), but it really doesn't hurt to say sorry if what you said was hurtful to someone. I think this just continues Bijan's streak of being a kind, classy guy. One of the best representatives of the university that we've ever had. And anyone who views apologizing as a sign of weakness probably has a whole lot of people in their personal life who detest them.
  14. That's kind of what I meant by I want other guys to stay for depth and continuity. There are probably 20 or so guys whose departure would upset me. Then there's another 20 or so that I'd prefer to stick around, but none of those guys individually would give me too much heartache. I'm thinking of players like Derek Williams, Christian Clark, FFFFfrench and Kibble.
  15. There's probably only about 20 players on this year's roster that I care about staying. Obviously, you want other guys to stay for depth and continuity, but have to imagine there are dozens of Deandre Moores that provide mediocre production and could be replaced for a lower price. I also feel like we're in a great spot for this upcoming portal window. If Goosby comes back, we're set at the positions I'd expect to be the most expensive: QB, OTs, edge rushers and debatably CB. No playoffs to worry about so Sark can take his month long bender and still have time for portal evals.
  16. ESPN SP+ power ratings had UNT as ~3 pt favorite over Texas on a neutral field. This whole sport is a fucking joke.
  17. You would think that between Barnes and Atkinson, both guys who were considered by some to be the top LBs in their class, you have at least one guy who can credibly spell the starters. If Brad Spence is coming back, he could give you snaps in a pinch. Based on what I saw from him this year, he may be an improvement on the Trey Moore LB snaps. Tend to agree with you that we'd ideally bring in one guy with proven ability in a year where we need to make noise.
  18. I’m trying to relay your thoughts to the staff but I’m afraid it might be too late.
  19. That QB was really good at the "fuck it Kohen down there somewhere" throw. He's not DK Moore by any stretch, but he looks like a guy who could produce for us a few years down the line.
  20. This is flat out wrong. He's had some terrible moments, but he is at worst the 2nd best receiver on the team. Moore and Livingstone are fine players, but not difference makers. There's not another receiver on the team that could do what Wingo did in back to back weeks against MSU and Vandy.
  21. My bad, I read too quickly and thought you were talking about Cam Coleman. You're absolutely right.
  22. He's currently a sophomore, so he's a lock to not enter the draft.
  23. Interestingly, from The Athletic's draft guys today: "Another of the standout performers for the Longhorns came from senior defensive end Ethan Burke, who made plays on defense and special teams. Though not a high-level athlete, the Austin, Texas, native plays physical at the point of attack and isn’t shy about sticking his nose into the fire. Considered a borderline draft pick entering the season, Burke has built a strong case to hear his name on Day 3, thanks to tapes like the Texas A&M and Vanderbilt games."
  24. What about those two guys makes you say this?
