  1. I don't think my wife is going to be deported. But I'm not sure what the fuck is going to happen, and it's absurd that it's even a question. Also, I'm sure there are foreign adoptees whose citizenship status is less clear. Just an angle of this thing that I haven't seen or heard discussed anywhere.
  2. I guess if your knee is 100% fucked, you can't fuck it up anymore.
  3. Currently a citizen herself, obviously. But is there any way in this fucked up country that they would attempt to revoke citizenship?
  4. Question: My wife was born in the US to a non-citizen, although I believe she was here legally. She was adopted right after birth. How much should we be personally worried about this birthright citizenship bullshit?
  5. I would say that Oregon has been nationally relevant for a couple of decades, long before NIL.
  6. Is there a school with money that hasn't historically been a major player that has the ability and interest to take advantage of the changing landscape and become somewhat of a regular contender?
  7. Seems like a dangerous game for Duke to be playing.
  8. Yea, that was apparent live on my cell phone.
  9. We inherited one of those from a friend for our 2nd child. They're great, but I probably looked like a kidnapper when I tried to fold it up the first time. Because why figure it out before being in public?
  10. Terry Christmas, to those who celebrate!
  11. What are people's experiences renting a car and driving inland? I'm looking at Black Rock Lodge and Lamanai for a possible trip with friends in a year or so.
  12. South Korea has a lot of problems, but they don't go crying "Lawfare!" when their current/former presidents are criminally charged for corruption.
  13. 2030ish is when we hope to get out of here too, before the kids are too entrenched in school. We're still very early on in figuring out where we might be headed. Sounds like you've done more research. What drew you to FC?
  14. I was aware that this was a problem in Korea, but hadn't read much about it. I'm sure our resident incels are taking notes from their eastern counterparts. Or maybe we can just trade some of our men for their women? Everyone wins! https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/07/01/south-korea-gender-divide-feminism-00155207
  15. I've read Blood & Thunder and On Frozen Ground, so I definitely like the author. Newborn and toddler have my brain feeling like mush at the moment, but one day soon I'll be ready to put down my phone and read a real book again. Back to Moana II discussion...
  16. Best song from original Moana for sure. All those YouTube views of that video on my phone are definitely because my 2 year-old wanted to hear it all the time, and not because I want to imagine I'm exploring the remote Pacific hundreds of years ago for 2 minutes instead of being trapped in a concrete hellscape.
  17. I forget if Fort Collins has been mentioned on this thread. I don't know much about it, but it appears to have solid schools, is affordable-ish, and close to RMNP and ski areas. I'm sure wildfires and future water supply could be a concern. Raising a family and getting outdoors being my primary requirements, as mentioned upthread. Anybody spent time there?
  18. Is Clemson recruiting truly imploding or am I missing something? 14 commits and they suck at the portal. God's name, image and likeness not the recruiting pitch Dabo expected it to be?
  19. We wanted to remain in the Austin area for my wife's work and to be near family, so we bought a house in Round Rock 2 years ago. While it will be nice to have my parents around while the kids are young (currently 2.5 and newborn), we can't wait to ditch the state. This isn't financially feasible at the moment, but it is likely that our financial outlook becomes much more positive before the kids are out of elementary school. We're a mixed-race family (Asian-White), so diversity would be great, want good public grade schools and decent options for college, easy access to nature, hospitals for wife's job, cooler temps and obviously a better political climate (as much as can be expected for the next 4 years). Initial thoughts have been NC, Oregon, Washington state, Colorado (wife grew up in the Springs, doesn't want to return there) and possibly Minneapolis. Thoughts?
  20. Do we have a moving out of Texas thread? It's going to take some time to be in a financial situation for us to do so, but we will have much more flexibility in a few years and are interested in options. Would like a good place to raise kids, outdoor activities nearby and decent diversity. Where would you send us?
  21. Broughton and Wisner were the obvious D/O MVPs, but I forgot Banks went out. Obviously we want him back, but Goosby didn't stick out as far as I could tell, which is pretty impressive
  22. Also holds on to the goddamn football
  23. Had Thanksgiving with the wife and young kids, sister + BIL and parents on Saturday. In a shocking moment of clarity, the parents purposely showed up an hour after my sister and BIL, so election venting could be performed in their absence. The 2 year-old finally interacted significantly with my sister, who I know was feeling insecure about him previously being anywhere from indifferent to fearful of her. The newborn slept basically the entire time. We cooked most of the appetizers and deserts ahead of time, leaving my dad to do the bird while we supervised children. Pretty uneventful, other than the turkey setting the fire alarm off twice while my wife struggled to get the toddler down for a nap. Just the immediate family today. I'm about to go pick up some Peking duck, but currently watching the toddler walk laps around the house using his fake Dyson while working on potty training.
  24. Can't wait to see who, if anyone, cracks first at Thanksgiving. I don't plan on initiating things, but I'll damn sure finish them if someone knocks over the first domino. I thought about not providing booze, but that would be impolite and boring.
  25. This was actually one of the first things that pushed me away from religion as a kid. I began to grasp the concept of eternity in elementary school and had regular existential crises thinking about spending it with the people at church who discussed the "gift" of eternal life. Uh, no thanks.
