  1. I have been unable to get my wife on board so far, but she's starting to show interest. I have no problem watching a 2nd (probably 3rd) time with someone experiencing it fresh.
  2. It was definitely Helly at the beginning, when Jame Eagan came to see her. I wondered at the end though if she hadn't been switched back somehow. I hope we don't have to wait 3 years for the next season.
  3. On the one hand, I will not be eating another one. On the other, do I want to know if burrito-induced cancer is growing inside my body?
  4. Imagine a world where this clown is viewed as the joke of a human being he is, and not someone who can win an election for anything with more import than a neighborhood HOA.
  5. https://www.tpr.org/government-politics/2025-03-20/a-texas-gop-lawmaker-wants-a-state-takeover-of-austin-but-cant-offer-specifics-on-how-it-would-work
  6. Sadly, we were all white boys and lacked this cultural expertise.
  7. You can keep your fancy I-talian food. I believe these were a full pound of delicious, microwavable mush for $1.99 in the late 2000s.
  8. Damn, us millenials swept every drinking category? Also, as others have noted, rural America may be great if you're a rich, white, retired person. I love being outdoors but I'm not bringing my mixed-race family out there to live.
  9. This is all so pointlessly stupid, yet incredibly harmful. https://www.npr.org/2025/03/20/nx-s1-5333655/interior-department-budget-cuts-doge
  10. I was a pretty well-behaved kid for the most part, but did the typical stupid stuff in college. I am not looking forward to when my boys are that age. It's amazing most of us make it.
  11. I was a physician assistant in the OR for 8 years. Fortunately, foot/ankle and thyroid surgery do not lend themselves much to death on the table. We had one 80-something year-old die in recovery after an above-knee amputation, and I witnessed unsuccessful attempts to bring him back. My wife certainly has countless stories both as a nurse in the liver icu in the Houston Med Center, and as a CRNA, primarily with very sick pediatric patients. I don't know if I remember any well enough to share, but I know organ procurement cases on young people are a very negatively surreal experience.
  12. Watching this country decline is what I imagine it's like to see any addict circling the drain before they hit rock bottom. Alienating friends and replacing them with new ones that are only feeding the habit, and the only hope of salvation is losing everything. **queue Brisket reminding us that rock bottom does not exist**
  13. "I want to believe there's a heaven. But I can't not believe there's a hell," I'm starting to share Vince Gilligan's sentiment more and more, and I'm not religious. More people than I could have ever imagined deserve it.

  15. I fully believe this, but given your history with Twitter uploads, can you provide a link?
  16. I'm still laughing at #2.
  17. Goddamn, #2🤣
  18. We were not expecting a storm last night, right? Hit us here in 78665 around 3 AM, and rain has either continued or resumed this morning.
  19. I've really been pumping this thread up recently. Perhaps it's because spring migration is right around the corner. I do have some somber news from the birding world to report. Houston/Austin birding legend Victor Emmanuel passed away. I met him once at Bolivar Flats, completely unaware of his legendary status among Texas birders at the time. He was incredibly eager to share his knowledge with anyone he came across. RIP https://www.statesman.com/story/news/local/2025/03/12/victor-emanuel-obit-austin-texas-birding-nature-guide-dies-age-84-illness/82306479007/
  20. Trudeau 2028!
  21. The Republican base and Democratic lawmakers share the similarity of living in an alternate reality. Republicans reality being one where facts don't matter, while Democratic politicians live in a world where rules and norms still exist.
  22. https://ebird.org/checklist/S217689804 Epic find by David Sarkozi in Anahuac, or whatever the fuck it's called these days. Amur stonechat, as you may guess from the name, is native to East Asia. It is considered very rare when one shows up in Alaska or the UK. This would be waaaay down the list of birds expected to show up in Texas.
  23. Did anyone else watch Dark Matter? What I'd give to jump into that box with the fam and find myself in the alternate reality McPoyle's character ended up in. I honestly wonder if such an alternate reality would even exist, or if we (humankind) were always destined to end this way within a couple centuries of the industrial revolution? The shitty part is I don't think we were. Conscious decisions by a few powerful individuals fucked us all.
  24. Do we know this?
