1. I think the first time I got my now wife’s attention was at a backyard pizza party she was hosting - I showed up with two bottles of wine. One was whatever, the other a solid Bordeaux. I told her the first one was for everyone else, the Bordeaux was for the host and whomever she might want to share it with.  She kept that to the side, brought me a glass and we drank it together while others drank … whatever. She had her eyes on me the whole night.
PSA: french wine works.

You inspired me this afternoon!

2. And if I could only have one wine for the rest of my life it’s a high quality French burgundy. Makes me feel content and satisfied. Truly a deep and lasting romance for me.

France is always the answer! There is no higher high than Burgundy!

3. Partner on my King Air bought a helicopter and is trying to get us to go in on it. He’s been flying it everywhere and it sounds like it might be worth it for the short hop trips we were considering getting a Cirrus for. The fuel burn on it is basically nothing especially compared with the King Air. He is also flying it from his house/shop straight to job sites, so it is no better than driving for him. I’m not sure how interested I am in a helicopter but it is intriguing. May need to up my life insurance first I suppose.

Prepare yourself for the insurance bill!
4. milkman I’d suggest asking a few friends who play if their wife or girlfriend ever tried to pick up the game. I know several people who have lightly used lady’s equipment sitting around unused. I’m sure it wouldn’t take much time to find someone willing to loan it out while your daughter decides if she likes the game.  If it sticks she might have enough experience and a swing baseline to buy something more dialed in than the starter set.

Put a post on facebook and our next door neighbor texted that she had a set of clubs we could borrow. Great idea!

5. Same.  Mostly Italian then French.  I do like Austrian wine and Swiss is just too hard to find but they make some nice whites.  Occasionally a German wine or some rando location like Slovenia but that's rare.
For domestic it is Oregon or Texas.  We do stop here any time we drive past Dixon to pick up some wines... https://vivacwinery.com/about-us/
New world?  Sometimes but rarely Argentina or Chile.

France is the answer to anything pertaining to wine!

Domestically speaking Oregon is by far the best QPR and stylistically there are some old world producers that have their hands in the wine making process.

Cali cab has gotten to a price point that makes it hard to stomach. Not too mention the flabby fruit centric over oaked high octane crap that is produced and coveted by many! lol

There are a few chards from New Zealand and Australia that are really good and punch way above their weight class. German reislings with some age are fantastic! And Chacra is the only wine from Argentina that I find drinkable!
6. you two nut jobs are the only people i would ask this based on posting history...
grabbing a bottle of salon for a gift.  have either of you compared the 2012 to the 2013 and have any opinions on the superior vintage?

I would lean towards 2013 but have not had either vintage of Salon yet...Let me know when you are dropping off my gift!
7. Dimensional shingle. Measurement is somewhere around 35 squares including extra. $35 a bundle at Home Depot. So about $4K in shingles (~105 bundles). Then there is underlayment, any replaced decking, nails, flashing, etc. I came up around $5K, put it at $6K just to add some leeway.

Labor, I'm assuming 8 guys making $30 an hour. Don't know what the going rate is, but that seemed fair. Just trying to do some back of the envelope math. I couldn't figure how they got anywhere near $16K without some really high margins. I'm all for people making money on what is a hard fucking job, but the numbers leave me scratching my head.

So let me get this straight. You are bitchin about how much this is going to cost when all you are out is the deductible?
