  1. So as some of you may remember, I assisted (minimally) in designing a watch for Vapaus. Basically I suggested some colors, which they ended up changing and I ended up winning the voting so they are making my model. In any event, they actually changed it from the winning design to something darker and brooding - originally the Sunset and now the Atomic.. Still great looking with an orange degrade dial. The Kickstarter is today. To my disappointment it will be a MechaQuartz option which they chose in order to maintain the relatively thin height and overall aesthetics. Other options were either somewhat unreliable or extremely expensive. If anyone is interested the KS will open at 10AM CST today. While I am somewhat disappointed with the movement, I own several of Vapaus' original watches, the Veli, and they have a very fine attention to detail and they are high quality watches. I know the Vorcut will be the same. I'll try to post some pictures as well.
  2. Sounds like a good avenue to pursue.
  3. I assumed he was a Sommelier.
  4. You realize gunner is a typical 45 y.o. ag living the dream in [suburban], Houston, right? He has a house with a yard and a fence and eats at Chili's and Olive Garden.
  5. Go with your gut. If there is no way to get in touch with the family through known channels your attempts will likely be rejected - parents don't want to be told anything bad about their kids and the immediate reaction will be negative unless they have some reason to believe you and/or your daughter. Giving them the evidence pretty much ensures the kid will know who gave it to them and put your daughter and family in a more dangerous situation. While going to the police is pretty much always my option of last resort, I think this is a case that warrants it unless you feel moving it up the chain to another agency is a better idea. Regardless, for your families safety, I think it best to judge the actual personnel involved before providing anything which could be used to implicate your daughter in turning him in.
  6. Very difficult situation. If you know the parents directly or indirectly through other friends, you may want to reach out to them. However, I think it is also a good idea to notify authorities with the public information and after you meet with them and get a feel for their level of competence, decide whether they can be trusted to keep the personal information shared with your daughter confidential to avoid retaliation. Seems like it may be a cry for help in some respects if he's sharing that he wants to harm himself and the parents should be made aware. The threats against others should be taken seriously, even if the methods laid out are ludicrous. I think in some cases, kids reach out on things like this to see if anyone is actually paying attention to them and taking them seriously. If so, hopefully help can be provided. But if not, it just reinforces that nobody (in their mind) cares about them and makes it easier to kill themselves and/or others. My $0.02. Good luck, not an enviable position for your daughter or family.
  7. Tough news and I'm very sorry to hear it. Thoughts and prayers for your friends, their families, and your family.
  8. Without getting into definitions of mental health issues, there is a 13 year old girl who doesn't have a father anymore. That's sad and she has a tougher road ahead as a result.
  9. My least favorite major because it routinely turns golf into putt putt courses. There is an official putt putt tour if you are interested in clown courses. This should be setup to determine the best golfer in our nation's championship. Today was very on the edge but became clear on the last 6 holes that it was over the top because the USGA failed to consider actual projections of the conditions and created an unfair advantage for people playing earlier in the day.
  10. That wasn't tough considering he got it like me on the front.
  11. Tomorrow could be bad because the greens dried up. Most of the day things were ok but on the edge. Later in the day it was pretty clear on the last few holes the greens were lost in the last several groups. I've seen much more egregious conditions for the US Open, but the last 6-8 holes were unfair to the later groups compared to the earlier groups. That sucks. It's unfortunate that the USGA decides it wants to protect par so badly that it compromises the greatness of the courses it selects. These courses are great tests because they are great courses, not because the greens are on the edge of unplayable. Good to see everyone going HAM on the USGA. They pretty much suck.
  12. Definitely getting dicey these last several holes.
  13. I said the back nine could get bad earlier. Looks like it's getting there quickly. If you've read my thoughts in the past US Opens you know I'm no fan of the setup. I wouldn't say Koepka hot a great shot. 20 ft short right from 130, but it shouldn't finish up in the bunker. I will say that Zach Johnson said they lost the course which could mean the last few holes on the back nine are near unplayable.
  14. Definitely a different course, but some of the shots these guys are hitting are garbage. Stenson just left an iron 30 yards short. Good shots are being rewarded and landing soft and staying near the holes for the most part. Hoffman's shot there notwithstanding (alright it was still 25-30 ft long).
  15. Most everyone in the later groups is simply playing like shit. DJ has hit some horrendous shots and his putting is worse than any of the leaders. Rose is hitting it like shit. Nobody looks particularly sharp. They haven't lost the course. It's close and the greens are on the edge, especially the shitty Poa just bouncing all over the place. But other than Phil hammering that putt that led to the 10, I haven't seen short putts running 25' off the green. They are definitely trickling of a few feet. That said, the US Open is probably my least favorite major because they do trick up the course so much that it's not a true judge of the best players and his shots are penalized. Today there are just a bunch of bad shots by the leaders and the greens are sick enough to make part difficult. Back none could change though.
  16. Good list. Would be interesting to see a composite for the top 3 sports. I imagine Texas would be pretty high.
  17. The Trieste Sent from my LG-H931 using Tapatalk
  18. Actually wanted the Retrospect more but they didn't have any of the combinations I wanted let. Figure I'll pick one up on WUS. Love the inward sloping bezel. Sent from my LG-H931 using Tapatalk
  19. Just got a Nodus Trieste. Not really an homage, but a nice looking diver for pretty cheap. Will post pics once I figure out why Tapatalk sucks.
  20. That's definitely a nice looking grill and has good reviews. Probably in my top two with the Hestan.
