  1. It's also evident that Russia is not able to produce the weapons in the same volumes as before. The noose tightened, a handful of folks slipped through it, but they're being identified and presumably dealt with. I hope those dealings are swift and harsh.
  2. We got bubkus in NW Travis. We're 0 for 4 on rain events from last Saturday evening though present.
  3. Saw this from an F1 group on Facebook.
  4. Allegedly OU administration didn't push very hard for it, but the conference really should have recognized its value and preserved it anyway.
  5. Not sure why they'd bother to protect Georgia from ol' 5-7, but other than that, I completely agree.
  6. OU/Florida are being paired up in the same way that early B12 prognosticators wanted to match up Texas and Colorado as x-div perma-rivals, if the B12 had chosen to go that route in order to preserve the NU-OU rivalry (which, in hindsight, the B12 probably should have. Losing that marquee rivalry as an annual game was one of the original and irreparable foundational cracks in the B12 itself). Anyway, it seems they're just lumped together because they offer similar competitiveness for the sake of balance, in the absence of any real history between the two.
  7. Yeah nothing at my house in NW Travis since the really big storms a couple of weeks ago. Totally missed out on any and all Saturday evening, Sunday, and Monday evening rain. This isolated stuff isn't doing diddly for the overall drought. Bring on El Nino.
  8. Pole Position always had tones along with the lights, so I'm cool with it.
  9. Not a drop today at my house in NW Travis either. You can check on Hydromet to see that today's rain has fallen more over Austin proper and a little further east, but not much out west. Which is still good for the city, but doesn't help the lakes at all.
  10. I personally only want F1 to be popular enough in the states to maintain the race that occurs in my backyard at COTA. Otherwise I don't care at all whether or not Americans are into the sport.
  11. I'm not disputing that Europe is the most important audience for Formula1. And the Dutch are among the nicest people I've ever met when spending time in Europe. But lowbrow asshole motorsport fans are the same, the world around.
  12. You could probably save that bottom corner of the flat by putting a mini-foil-wrap around it after a couple of hours.
  13. I always find it amusing when people think that European motorsport fans are somehow more sophisticated than American motorsport fans. We're talking about cars, not polo. You see all those assholes that set off orange flares when Max passes their seats? Yeah, that's your European motorsport fan.
  14. There was some interesting racing from #2 on. Maybe Max will retire soon.
  15. Rained pretty good at the Austin FC game at Q2, the game was delayed by over an hour as thunderstorms passed through.

A few years later, and there is a new Mr. Gatti's off Far West. Same strip center as the old one, just a few doors down (technically, up). Haven't tried it yet but the kids will be spending some summer days at their grandparents' house off Hart Lane so I'm sure I'll get several reports back in the near future.
  17. It'll be 1 year if Disney decides to cough up the cash for a 9-game schedule after 1 year. It'll be more, if not. But I disagree with the idea that they'll switch to the "other" 7 teams in 2025 if the conference schedule remains 8 games, with some plan to round out the rotation. The SEC doesn't give a crap about rounding out the rotation. The ags have only played Georgia once in the 11 years they've been in the SEC. The SEC doesn't care at all about that. And assuming they use the 2024 no-division schedule to maintain all of the key rivalries, then there's no way they could flip to the "opposite 7" in 2025 because it would immediately break all of those rivalries they managed to preserve in 2024. Having one perma-rival isn't enough for most teams in the SEC. If it does remain an 8-game schedule in 2025, then I expect they'll maintain all of the key rivalries they protected in 2024, and only rotate the remaining games.
  18. Yeah I'm not sure why people are assuming that the "one rival" for a 2024 one-off bridge season schedule, means "one and only one rival." If there are no divisions, then they can slot absolutely anyone into those other 7 games. For Texas I'd be very surprised if our 8-game conference schedule for 2024 doesn't include all 3 of OU, Arkansas, and Texas A&M. I mean, it's not like any of the traditional SEC powers are going to be clamoring to play the ags or pigs.
  19. Counterpoint: It belongs on covers better than original thread.
  20. Yeah I really love it when she analyzes hard rock and heavy metal vocalists. She understands that what they do, is different than what an opera singer does, and she shows a lot of respect for it. Her reaction/analysis video for the Disturbed version of Sound of Silence is really great.
  21. We were there over Spring Break and got to deal with this. It was pretty, but a pain in the ass, and rooked us out of some of our hiking. After doing the Window Trail at 34 degrees and drizzling, there's no way the kids were going out the next day when it was actually snowing down at our RV park in Terlingua. So then after that the next day we hit Santa Elena and it was a little warmer at ~40, but also drizzling. Still had a great time with the family, but hoping for better weather the next time.
