  1. ISU after a long slog without a break? Cold night in Ames at Jack Trice? Matt fucking Campbell in his 4th season looking for a breakout? /applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

    The Boys

First three episodes were clunky to the point I was wondering if I was wasting my time. Shit got real.
  3. Because they Equifux you in the drive-through.
  4. Only the usual - certain posters have to piss on everything in sight
  5. Scalzi - Old Man's War series. Or - if you really want to go crazy, look at the Bobiverse series.
  6. He wrote some wonderful stand-alone books in the same universe such as Best Served Cold, The Heroes, Red Country etc.
  7. Is entitlement now classified as a mental issue? Because, shit, it's an epidemic in the US (/no CR).
  8. Dip-netting on the Copper River. Best connection with the fish and the river in my life.
  9. I got a little smashed last night and thought of this divine thread. I have to admit I'm a bit of a heathen as I love a grilled cheese with homemade ramen as an au jus. The sammich is butter grilled homemade sourdough bread (dagwood, of course) with olive oil mayo, Murican cheese and ham slices. The ramen is beef consomme with rice noodles.
  10. That depends upon what you enjoyed about WoT - was it the coming of age or the epic scale of the storyline? If coming of age fantasy is what you enjoy there are a ton of authors out there which fit the bill: Eddings, Williams, Hobb, Sullivan and so on. If epic fantasy is more of your boat try: GRRM, Lynch, Abercrombie, Lawrence, Rothfuss, Sanderson, etc. Want to take a ride on sci-fi? Scalzi, Corey, Brown, Card and others.
  11. For some reason I'm suffering from CRS these days - did you go up on any missions?
  12. Apollo and other NASA rockets. (WVB)
  13. Been working my way through it, not really addicted to it but find myself enjoying it.
  14. They, in fact, do - USMAPS. My dad used the prep school to get into West Point back in the 1950's, when it was then located at Fort Belvoir, VA.
  15. Yes, you can - the fact that my personal IRA was with Fidelity made it easy (in-company transfer of assets). As to why - for early retirement, the penalty for borrowing/withdrawing was significantly less on the 401k than the IRA. The numbers aren't astronomical (below 7 figures) but the timing (wanting to retire before 60 which is coming up fast) helped it make sense.
  16. I'm close to this - I used to use a local Credit Union for Savings/CD but their security was hacked twice so I moved my savings to USAA in addition to checking. I rolled my personal IRA into my company managed Fidelity 401k but also keep a separate TSP fund that outpaces everything else I have experienced (prolly because there's no corporate margin to grow). On a hunch, I'm going to open an international account in China (under one of the big four there, most likely BoC or ICBC), it won't be much but it will be a start.
  17. You should try a spiced rum and ginger ale, especially in the summertime.
  18. In the last year PH has died to me. It used to be (old here, mebbe even AB old) I could always count on PH being a stalwart to 'holding on' to the old ways. Not anyfuckingmore. Get yer piehole ready fer gov'ment cheese ye bitches!
  19. This is the best show on TV right now, period. Sandra Oh is the best actress (fuck me, thespian) of this period, period - prove me wrong bitches. I seriously want to see some scissoring, is that wrong?
  20. Not sure how I feel about that - RP has a very calming and demure aspect to her but isn't one of the key challenges that Moiraine has to overcome is that many of the Sister don't give her credit because she's young and petite?
