  1. The Zips have lost 19 consecutive games, by wide margins. And Akron U. is my alma mater.
  2. I think the B1G wants Nebraska to leave the league. After being kicked out of the AAU, football was the only thing the cornhuskers had for the Big 10, and now they don't even have much of that going for them.
  3. Henry Deutschendorf Jr. (aka John Denver) attended Texas Tech. I had to search that out as I was trying to figure what he had to do with TT.
  4. That was just a lackluster game, boring. They didn't try hard at attacking, and City wasn't much better. Tough 1-0 loss. Leno needs to catch the ball and not just bat it away.
  5. I posted this on my Facebook page in response to my son-in-law visiting this weekend with my daughter and grandkids. You don't know what having to be a Browns fan is like unless you lived all your life in N.E. Ohio. Read it and you might begin to understand"
  6. 992 pages (and counting)??? That stuff is just...weird...crazy....
  7. It is clear that Ozil will never play another minute for Arsenal. Which leaves two questions to be answered. What did Ozil ever say/do to Arteta to be put in this doghouse? And why won't he agree to go to another team and actually play the sport he lives for? I actually really like the guy and think he is still one of the premier players in England, but I have gotten tired of all the stories on a player we never see play anymore.
  8. Most fans fault Kroenke for being an absentee owner, not wanting or willing to put any of his money into the club. But I suspect he wanted to see if the club, and Arteta could fix the club, make the right decisions, and the hard ones to turn the club around. Well, they got the job done as well as possible. This article strongly suggests Kroenke saw they did, and he came up with the money for Partey's release clause. The club didn't have the $59 million for this, so I strongly agree with the article. Did Kroenke sanction the Party deal to keep Arteta at Arsenal?
  9. Great win at Anfield finally. Leno is the MOTM, he shut Liverpool down and we won it on penalties. Too many wanted Martinez but Leno is our starter in the net. Love that confident smile.
  10. Auba signs a new long-term contract! They've been teasing us all summer, finally did it. I am starting to get a really good feeling about this year.
  11. You need to really visualize this to comprehend how much goes into landfills. In the 1980's I worked for one of the largest Coca Cola production plants in the US. There were two can lines, each filling 1800 cans per minute, 24 hours a day, 6 days a week. It was a blur watching them fly by. I used to do the math and knew how many the shipped. Probably 99% of them wound up in landfills. This was just one plant serving a small part of the US.
  12. Mikel Arteta has really turned this team around since his first game. Serious hope for a top four this year.
  13. Just make it Washington F.C. like all the other football teams in England.
  14. Just two weeks away from restarting the season, June 17 with Man City. Hope they can kick the rust off of nearly 3 months since their last match. An empty stadium will seem weird. And the news every day is about Aubameyang and his future. This is the one player they Cannot lose.
  15. The only way for any of this to work is for the PAC12 big schools to join the B1G and/or Big 12 in football only; Oregon St. Washington St, and Utah join a lesser western league in football. Then retain the PAC12 for all their other sports. I know this would entail a lot of work, but it is the only way for this to work.
  16. Per Mikel Arteta: "In a lot of pain and is in a brace at the moment, don't know if it's the bone or ligaments, we don't know yet" Sounds like it's pretty serious. But it is great to have a win today.
  17. I thought I heard the last of his name. Why does it continue to pop up? Be done with him, because he is sure done. even if he doesn't believe it.
  18. Getting tired of these draws, better than a loss but let's start winning these matches. Martinelli is an exciting young player and had another great goal. Hector Bellerin saved the game with his late score. What did Luiz do for a red card?
  19. "On November 30, 2014, after the conclusion of the regular season, Pelini was fired by Nebraska Director of Athletics Shawn Eichorst, effective immediately. The University is contracted to pay Pelini $7.65 million in salary following his termination in the form of $150,000 monthly payments for the next 51 months. The total liquidation to be paid to Pelini is roughly $7.9 million." (wikipedia) So Nebraska's payments ended March 1, 2019. Still not a bad payday.
  20. Bo Pelini considering a return to the SEC Youngstown State Head Football Coach Bo Pelini is under consideration for the defensive coordinator job at LSU. In five seasons at YSU, Pelini has led the Penguins to a record of 33-28. He led the program to an appearance in the 2016 FCS National Championship game. Pelini is no stranger to the LSU program. He was the Tigers’ defensive coordinator from 2005 to 2007. His multi million dollar contract with Nebraska must be finished and he needs a big time contract. Youngstown State was paying him $200,000 per year while NU was paying his contract with them.
  21. Another game we should have won, let's play a full 90 minutes! But it wasn't just us today... Tottenham and Watford 0-0 Manchester City and Crystal Palace 2-2 Chelsea lost to Newcastle 1-0 in extra time at the end! Loved it.
  22. If I am looking at it right, the ACC has Clemson at #2 and the conference runner up Virginia at....#29. And no one else? Clemson would have a more difficult schedule if they had an FCS league schedule. The AAC had more ranked teams. I must be missing something.
  23. Reiss Nelson scored at the 55 mark. The youngster is looking good. And that was all they needed.for the win over Leeds.
  24. one of the saddest things you can say. WE ARE ARSENAL! "we didn't lose" is never good enough.
  25. Last year when I was looking for an Premier League to support, I choose Arsenal. Maybe I just liked the name? I'm still on board despite their problems. They have the players to compete for the top four, just hope Mikel Arteta is the leader that can turn them around.
