    Christmas loot

Got covid, no in laws allowed over for Christmas or NYE. Best gift I could've asked for.
  3. What do you guys think about the Ryobi table saws?
  4. The discussion of expansion comes up every year in shaggy and workplaces across the country. Do you go the way of txhsfb and have a separate bracket/champion for p5 and g5 teams? Make the season be 10 games, throw in a few out of conference games that don't affect your standings so we can still have marquee match ups? Maybe have 8 "districts" spread out across the country, the so called district champ and runner up make the playoffs?
  5. Remember watching this a lot for some reason.
  6. Bought one a few years ago after reading the thread on TOS. Came out looking like a genius while all the idiots have been stockpiling toilet paper.
  7. Crazy sister in law (middle child, far right extremist, never wrong, etc) hosted a huge Halloween party a few weeks ago. Told my wife we wouldn't be attending which caused a huge argument between the sisters. Fast forward to last week and at least 6 of the people (including their brother and two of his kids) in attendance have tested positive for Covid. Hopefully this will keep my interactions with the in laws to a minimum this holiday season...
  8. So I've been trying to focus on the good and giving myself "pep talks" when I start to feel overloaded, I've made a point to take my wife out on dates once a week, just the two of us, and I've put my phone down a lot more when I get home. Not to bring religion into it, but I was driving to work the other day and stopped on KLove for some reason. The caller was talking about some of the same issues I've had and brought up Philippians 4:8. One of those moments that just stuck with me.
  9. Watched the Naked Gun series. Been a while since I've seen them. My 9 year old even enjoyed them.
  10. Mesh was wide open underneath. Trying to do too much.
  11. We are asynchronous as well but there is an actual online attendance button for each class period that needs to be checked before 11:59pm that day. Teachers then have to go back the next day and do attendance. All zoom or hangouts meetings are done at a certain time each day but they are also recorded and posted in the Google classroom. We have been doing as much homework is posted each evening and it's generally cleared up our Thursday and Fridays. The frustrating part comes from my 3rd graders teachers. They post assignments randomly (two were posted Saturday with a Sunday due date) and they seem to be the only ones doing that.
  12. This is my first time posting in this thread and I don't know if it's even the right place to post. I have always worried about small things and made mountains out of mole hills. Recently I find myself constantly thinking about "what ifs" at my job to the point where I build up a huge amount of stress. I'm a teacher and deal with a lot of parents and issues. I'm notoriously bad for visualizing a scenario in my head, gradually making it much bigger than it needs to be, and eventually letting it consume me. I'll completely zone out at home, can't take my mind off of what may happen the next day, and end up stressing out. I know that I need to learn to grow thicker skin and stop sweating the small stuff but over the last year or so I've noticed that it's gotten worse.
  13. San Antonio ISD pushing athletics back to October. Hopefully this doesn't have a waterfall effect on the rest of the state.
  14. K-2 will go back full time on September 7th. Sept 14th 3-12 will go back on alternating days (A-L on Monday and Wednesday, M-Z on Tuesday and Thursday) and Friday will be at home learning. Sports and other extra curricular activities are still going on full time.
  15. Relatively new to this as I've always just gotten the new Galaxy every time I've upgraded. Is it something as easy as buying an unlocked phone on Amazon or through the carriers website and getting it activated?
  16. Any recommendations on sprinkler heads? Currently using K2 rotors and need to replace a few of them.
  17. Very ballsy considering we are in the midst of a economy crippling national coin shortage.
  18. I've been teaching for a while and teachers don't get to teach anymore. We teach towards a test and the school is graded heavily on those tests. Elective classes have students pulled to attend remediation and extra tutorials for their core subjects. We've tried to get every kid to pass a test and into a college. Trade schools are going away. At the school I'm at (Title I, low socio economic kids, etc) there's 30% of kids that will go to college and make it. There's 50% that might get a certificate, an associates, military, or just jump right in the work force. That 50% would perform much better if they were allowed to take classes they were interested in. The bottom 20% don't want to be there and their parents don't care about education yet we spend most of our time dealing with them and not the other 80%.
  19. I bought several of "the" Bo Jackson card (black and white, wearing shoulder pads and holding a bat) for $6 a piece and remember checking Beckett magazines and watching it raise and raise and raise. Being 9 years old, when it hit $12i thought I would be rich. Then he got hurt and it plummeted. I had thousands of cards, sorted by team and alphabetical order in 3 ring binders. Now I think all I have left are a few of my favorites that are stuffed in a shoe box stuffed in the top of my closet. Haven't look at the in years.
  20. My district is going 4 weeks of online and will then reevaluate. The thought at this time seems to be extending that an additional 4 weeks or going to a hybrid model (A-L come Mon/Wed, M-Z come Tues/Thurs) with Friday being online only. Last spring I think that the majority of teachers in my district did the best they could with online learning. As with any profession, some teachers just flat out suck and did very little. The hardest part was reaching kids and parents. The GT/PRE AP students and those with parents at home did their work. The average students struggled a bit but got the hang of it towards the end and were able to complete assognments and get caught up. However there was a good 25% that couldn't/wouldn't be contacted, refused to do work, wouldn't pick up Chromebooks or Hotspots that the district handed out, and basically just went into shutdown mode. This fall will be the same. I believe most teachers will do as much as they can to contact parents and reach kids. But there are some kids that will excel no matter what is going on and there are others that won't give any effort. One thing about this entire situation for teachers is that no matter what administration decides, somebody will be pissed and throw a fit about the decision. On a side note, we've had sports camps (all sports, 7-12 grade) all summer and had zero issues, no shutdowns, and no cases. Coaches are being overly cautious with cleaning equipment before, during, and after workouts. Temperature checks are required daily, masks are mandatory, social distancing is maintained to a point. We've gradually gone from weights and individual skills (no offense vs defense, 3 on 3, etc) to more group activities. It's been successful for us.
