  1. They genuinely believe (or refuse to correct) that tariffs can replace the revenue from income taxes.
  2. Yes and it’s 25% - cartoon idiocy. EU retaliation already levied
  3. So we all have GOP Congress to thank to taping our feet to the bicycle and forcing us to endure whatever tariffs fuckery comes next with no legal off ramp. Just fantastic work
  4. I have to believe this is mostly because of poor cap management. It’s not like there’s a ton of room in the budget unspent- it’s that they don’t prioritize putting money aside for free agency. Any signings they do make I seem to remember also news of key players restructuring their contracts to make the cap space available
  5. Some of our OL draft picks have actually been a bright spot for a unit otherwise completely neglected by Jerry. If they don’t score TDs he won’t pay. See also why the defense sucks
  6. Using the fucking White House as a backdrop to benefit a billionaire donor who also is destroying the government’s ability to regulate business or innovate. And the media has given up on reporting corruption or illegality of any of these actions. “The President looked at Teslas on the White House lawn and went ‘Vroom vroom.’ Today is the day Trump became the people’s President”
  7. Notice how it’s only words with Russia but actual consequences for Ukraine?
  8. It’s depressing how this is probably the correct answer- that combined with a healthy “Jews control the banks, so let’s screw them while making money on manipulating crypto”. Otherwise I can’t make much sense of him railing against (((globalists)))
  9. No, man - it’s bad faith attempts to create facts to beat the many lawsuits challenging Elon’s authority. Particularly litigation based on the Appointments clause. This was only a little later:
  10. Well I guess instead of creating an asylum policy to remedy the wrongs of turning away a ship full of refugees running from Hitler and sending them home to war, torture, and death - we decided we wanted to embrace that tradition and repeat it on a larger scale
  11. they never wanted a mineral rights deal. They wanted to lure Zelensky to a meeting and they coordinated with the Russians before. I’d be outraged but this administration is clearly pushing for Ukrainian surrender and doing everything in its power to aid Russia in those efforts
  12. So to recap- we’re preventing delivery of weapons and aid we already approved and paid for. We stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine. The Secretary of Defense ordered a stand down on fights against Russian cybersecurity threats. Can the press stop repeating the administration’s lies about peace and just admit that we are using all of our leverage to force a Ukrainian surrender?
  13. So can anyone articulate an end game or policy goal for tariffs? Because it sure seems like Trump really intends to make them permanent under the sincere belief that he’ll be able to balance the budget. And no one is left with courage to tell him why that’s so fucking dumb
  14. But what is the end game? In the last administration tariffs were a stick to force new trade deals in place of NAFTA and agreements on IP with China. Here, what’s the actual purpose?
  15. A self imposed worldwide great depression by a country that was leading the Western world in growth and stability. Has history ever seen such a thing on this scale?
  16. Well it’s 20% on imports from China as of today. Markets are collapsing, GDP contracting instead of growing, inflation rising, and every day consumer prices just shot through the roof. Can’t wait for all the manufacturing jobs to start up, right guys? That’s definitely what companies will spend their capital on in this economic environment, right?
  17. The President is illegally impounding all military spending to Ukraine and lifting sanctions on Russia. Oh and we’re crashing the economy by Presidential fiat. Putin runs this country
  18. So I guess the President can now simply choose not to enforce any laws he doesn’t like. Let’s call it the TikTok principle. Democracy was nice, it’s such a shame to see it gone
  19. Don’t worry! Their future is actually measured by potential to sell personal service robots and will have nothing to do with cars so that surely will explain why the stock doesn’t crater
  20. See, while you are rightly embarrassed by this ambush, the Joe Rogan crowd are only too excited to support it: No word yet if Theo Vonn is receiving cash for these takes like other right wing podcasters or if he’s just an idiot
  21. It means Ukraine has no leverage without American weapons or aid. It’s just written by some idiot like Dan Scovino so it doesn’t make any fucking sense
  22. Counterpoint: He was injured for parts of the last two seasons. If it happened next season maybe he doesn’t get drafted at all.
  23. Where is the statutory authority to offer this? Can we all step back and remember we have to pass laws in this country? They might not even be able to pass a budget with their own votes through reconciliation- they surely won’t be able to pass anything that needs to beat a filibuster
  24. Prove the fraud! “Fraud” is just now code for “spending I don’t like”. The actual inspector generals had offices and budgets and their jobs were- get this- to root out waste, fraud and abuse. And they all got fired without new replacements. Those people had to hold actual investigations and then make public findings. Now Elon posts lies and then impounds funds appropriated by Congress. What a great system that is definitely about fraud and not just showy bullshit to distract from firing all the regulators trying to hold his companies accountable
